Myhill for England.

The Hull City custodian has represented England at various levels up to Under-20s so he has a little experience in representing his country, and as a bonus he was actually born in America – so if he's rubbish for England we can blame them. Perfect. :)

Chelsea beat 10-man Liverpool 2-0 and we're out of the Carling Cup.

Bah, I don't care if it was "just" a Carling Cup match...Despite all the money, I'm coming to think that Liverpool under Benitez will never be anything other than an also-ran. Chelsea, Arsenal and United chase actually chase the Carling Cup, FA cup and Champions League every season, while Rafa can see only one cup at a time (and fail anyways..). If he fails to bring home any silverware this season what else can a fan be expected to think?

Chelski under Grant look like they could still threaten for the title, but Liverpool do not.

Off topic, but does anybody know why "The Sun" has taken to calling Football "Soccer" nowadays?
It's petty, but it really, really, really irritates me.
It's FOOTBALL.
Sorry.

Sorry.

Why does anyone care what "The Scum" thinks.

Didn't get to see the match but from reports it wasn't the greatest show on earth.

...Chelsea, Arsenal and United chase actually chase the Carling Cup...

I wouldn't say that Arsenal chase it given that Wenger uses it to field his youngsters. I think the team that played Blackburn this week had an average age of 21.

And Markleshark has already pointed out Sir Alex's view of the cup...

Don't know why they don't just say that the 4 teams who finish in the top don't play in the Carling cup the next season.

I think that while Man U and Arsenal aren't fussed about the competition I don't think you can say that Chelsea or Liverpool don't want to win the trophy.

which is why I didn't mention any teams, just those who finish in the top 4 (who ever they may be)

That's where I'd disagree because for example if Man City finished 4th this season you can't tell me they wouldn't want to still win the Carling Cup next year.

And even when Chelsea and Liverpool do finish in the top 4 they still want to win it.

Hang on, being a denizen of Hampshire shouldn't you be supporting your top local side? They're going for glory in the cup too, you know. ;)

Aha, well I'm not from Portsmouth, and try as I may Southampton never really excited me, I went to the Bridge in the (dark old) days with Stanic, Gronkjaer and Petit, next thing I knew I'd become hooked.
How cliché :)

Anyway, I was of the impression that a denizen was a foreigner?
In which case, I wholeheartedly contest your statement.

Much in the same way when playing FIFA 08 the Swiss team 'BSC Young Boys' always gets a childish giggle out of me. Wrong I know... But hey...
I'll see your childish and raise you downright immature by getting you to giggle at the name of their old ground...

Blues finally tell Carson Yeung to sod off BBC News
So what's the general feeling among Birmingham fans about the whole takeover business? Yeung didn't inspire a lot of confidence in me from what I saw of him, although obviously that's as an outsider looking in on all this takeover talk.
