Newcastle managed to scrape a point, which is a shame.

I got in this morning and I thought the last score I saw was 2-1 to Birmingham, but I must have dreamt that. :eek:

How I wish it was 2-1, you sure it wasn't the drink that confused you?

Looks like April 5th is going to be a huge day in the fight to avoid relegation.

Fulham v Sunderland
Newcastle v Reading
Wigan v Birmingham

There could/should be a much better picture of who's going and who's staying after that

In todays most depressing news it would seem as if free to watch football is dwindling, with Sky now having the rights to 'most' of the Champions League football from 2009. Full Story.

This is seriously starting to piss me off, actually.

no kidding. i guess we're all made of money and have nothing better to do with it than throw it away on a TV show/sporting event.

granted my family and i are more fortunate than a lot of folks and i feel i shouldn't complain. but still the fact that TV big wigs think that we should pay them is ludicrous. i bought an Imac because i saw a corporate sponsored commercial on the telly and was interested. the problem,imho, is that some folks do seem to have "disposable income". i've often wondered if that means they "dispose" of paying some other bill or meeting some other inherent need to satiate some frivolous desire.

anyway there are several ways to avoid sticking the tab on us but i'm sure it is much easier to make us pay. i've never seen a payper view footy match. and i've got to ask... are there still commercials during the halftime break? if there are that is a crime...:apple:

Don't get me wrong, I could get SkySports if I wanted to, but my Sky bill is over £50 a month already (Granted that includes SkyBroadband as well) and it's just getting over the top.

That, and quite simply, I like ITVs Champions League coverage.

I don't think it's in UEFA or football's interest to remove the majority of Champions League games from free-to-air TV. I'm all for Sky improving choice if you want to watch Italian Team A vs Spanish Team B as that wasn't previously available, but they shouldn't restrict terrestrial TV coverage of the home clubs.

And in my usual off-topic post,;
East Fife won promotion at the weekend, but some jobs worth of a policeman confiscated their bottles of champagne as you are not allowed glass containers in a sports arena. What are they going to do at Silverstone this year?

Got to say, Sky Sports coverage of the European Cup (I'm old and like the old name) is stunning, during the group stages you can pick from 8 different matches or try and watch all at the same time, they don't end the post game coverage for some crappy soap or the news and best of all, I can watch it in HD which is stunning for football.

Still there should be an equal share of the English games on both Sky and ITV.

Yeah, but you've got to pay extra again for HD. It's all money, money ****ing money. Why would I want 8 games? I can only watch one, and I don't really want to watch any others than United.

Also, I don't much care about whats on after it, I'm there for the football. Thats actually the only time I watch TV.

Hopefully ITV will have regained the rights when we embark on our 2013-2014 Champions League campaign, so the whole country can enjoy our heroics for free. :)

Out of interest Jaffa, with Hull 'flying' in the Championship do you want to get promoted? Looking at Derby and all...

Carlisle are doing well at the moment, but I'm a little scared of getting promoted. I couldn't take another season of loosing and relegation, which would of course be a large possibility.

That's the thing – there's a bit of a debate about it in these parts at the moment. A lot of people are being quite pessimistic about it (not unusual for City supporters, of course ;)), citing the example of Derby and saying that if we do go up we'd make the Rams look like Real Madrid. They argue that we're just not ready for the top flight yet. And, in all honesty, they're absolutely right. We're nowhere near ready for it.

Personally, I think if it does happen (and it's still quite a big if) we should grasp the opportunity with both hands. You can't pick and choose when you get promoted, and year on year it's getting harder and harder for clubs outside of a select few to gain promotion to the top flight. The Championship is very, very open this year and another chance like this might not come around for us for a long time.

The closest we've ever been to getting into the top flight was way back in 1910, when we lost out to Oldham who were better placed than us by a ridiculously small margin –*our goal average (the system used before goal difference) was inferior by just 0.29 of a goal. I'm sure the team and fans of the time looked forward to the next season as probably being 'the one', unaware that nearly ninety years later we still wouldn't have achieved that elusive promotion.

If we do go up, will we be the bookies' favourites to finish twentieth out of twenty? Almost certainly. Will it be a long, hard season? Absolutely. Come the end of it, will we be relegated? We most likely will be.

One thing we can be sure of – it'd be a hell of a scrap and we'd love every minute of it. Bring it on. :D

Being a Hull City fan certainly has had its up and downs over the last few years, just look at this:

2001-02 -> Play-offs
2002-03 -> New Manager / New Stadium
2003-04 -> Promotion
2004-05 -> Promotion
2005-06 -> Relegation Battle
2006-07 -> Relegation Battle
2007-08 -> Promotion?????

There are 3 key games that I see for Newcastle and a result in these will secure their place in the premiership for next season

Newcastle v Fulham
Newcastle v Reading
Newcastle v Sunderland

They are all at home and against weaker teams but then again Derby got 4 points of Newcastle this season so that means nothing.

Newcastle should be safe but if the worst happens then it has to be the managers fault.

Side note: Given out for 6 weeks so will have to rely of Harper who is good goalkeeper.

The way I see those draws going are highlighted in bold, I feel the best game will be Bayern v Getafe.
Leverkusen v Zenit
Rangers v Sporting Lisbon
Bayern v Getafe
Fiorentina v PSV

Most guys think that Leverkusen will pass Zenit.. I think Zenit will go through Bayer.. Because I remember Bayer - Spartak Moscow match at the group stage. Leverkusen was really weak.. I don't think there is much that has changed since then... :rolleyes:

By the way, is someone of you guys going to Moscow this May to watch Champions League Final? ;)

I heard that to get into Russia you need a visa, and you have to apply at least a month in advance to get said visa, whilst the semi-finals are only three weeks before the final. Therefore if you want to go you have to apply, and pay for, a visa before your team has even played the semi-final. Nice one UEFA!

BBC News front page reporting football corruption police officers searching Birmingham City :eek: It was all Steve Bruce I tell you, nothing to do with any one who is currently at the club... I hope...

Told you it was nothing to do with anyone at the club... I still hope

Tisk, tisk, tisk. :D

In other news, all you MLS fans are getting a treat, with Carlisle Winger/Striker Kevin Gall heading out to Toronto FC.

Look out for him. ;)

Mm, good isn't it! I've applied for tickets in the ballot, but it is always so oversubscribed..
