You can buy a pint at the ground, but you have to drink it on the concourse – you're not allowed alcohol within sight of the pitch.

Bovril and pie consumption can continue unhindered in your seat, however. :)

Oooh don't tell the health & safety gurus, they'll immediately ban hot burny stuff from the seating areas!

Genuinely amazed you can buy a pint at a football ground in England. I've never been to a game down south and had just assumed the law was the same. Do some people actually see the game or spend the whole time drinking?

The law itself is an ass because although the wording is 'sports ground', when is a sports ground not a sports ground? When it's a rock concert!
I think you can also buy alcohol at rugby and cricket games up here (yes, we do have cricket) and also the theater, but not footie or the cinema. Hmmmm, posh people pursuits vs normals. I wonder if that's a coincidence....

Some people slope off ten minutes before half-time to get a drink, personally I do my supping in the pub beforehand so I don't go missing any of the match. ;)

Indeed – when the KC is used for concerts you can have a drink sat on your seat on the pitch itself, no problem. We share our ground with Hull FC (one of the city's two rugby league teams) and I think I'm right in saying that you can take alcoholic drinks (in plastic glasses, of course) to your seat when they're playing. Of course, that might be because you need as much alcohol in you as possible to enable you to get through 80 minutes of egg-chasing. :p

I think it's more to do with hooliganism problems in the past, and how football matches are policed as opposed to other sports. In terms of the 'posh', I know that there are rules that have to be observed about drinking in corporate boxes, with regards to having a 'view' of the pitch. In Scotland I believe curtains or blinds have to be used on boxes if the chairmen and other well-heeled types fancy a tipple, I don't know if things are quite as extreme south of the border but there are some rules in place for sure.

I think a certain stallion would like to see Bovril banned:

The big four are facing off this weekend...predictions?

Benitez will go for a low-scoring draw, choking the midfield against Man United, and it will backfire. :( United have scored so many late goals this season the only sure way to beat them is to score two or more goals an maintain a cushion so the late goal won't matter.

Man United 1-0 Liverpool
with a late goal on a set piece.

I can see Chelsea upsetting Arsenal, but Chelsea have also shown weakness in defense, so it could be a higher scoring game, and I think Arsenal are more dangerous offensively.

Chelsea 2-3 Arsenal.

Once again, Sky are breathlessly promoting 'Grand Slam Sunday', with the promise of classic encounters between the four star-laden giants of English football.

With that in mind, I'm again going to predict a tepid pair of goal-less draws. :p

Have a real feeling we can do it and break Chelsea's home unbeaten run. Liverpool win, we win - all square at the top again. Still not 100% sure I have my ticket for the game, but hopefully.. :)

By this time next week Hull City could be top of the championship!

Another fantastic win by the Tigers today and we are almost in touching distance of the Premiership. This really is the most amazing season.

we'll wave to you when we are on our way down :(

Its close down there isn't it. I really wouldn't like to say who will go down with Derby, I think Fulham will go too now, but Birmingham, Bolton and Wigan are all in a dangerous position.

to tight for my liking.

Bolton's last 7 games look tough, but they have the advantage of playing Sunderland in those 7 games and Chelsea on the last day :D

We've got Fulham and Wigan in the last 7 games

but I'll agree on Fulham joining Derby then it's pick one from 5 (up to Wigan) think Newcastle and above are pretty safe now.

Derby, Fulham, Bolton :)

Got my ticket for tomorrow!

I agree about Newcastle, now they have 1 win I think more will come.

I think that Reading and Middlesbrough are safe now too.

I'd be happy with that.

And hope you beat Chelsea tomorrow and Ashley Cole gets sent off, that tackle on Hutton was disgusting and he should have been sent off and banned for at least 3 games.

Middlesbrough are more than safe. Reading do have an easy run-in so they should be OK but you never know.

Sheff Wed 2 - 2 Crystal Palace
18' Ben Sahar 1
40' 1 Ben Watson
68' Wade Small 2
90' 2 Matthew Lawrence

last minute equalizer, feh!

Still guess JC is in a happy mood, just two point off automatic promotion.
Bugger that, we're three points off the top!

You know R., this can't be right. It just can't. I'm starting to think that we may be the unwitting victims of an elaborate but cruel hoax.

If anyone here is in on it, please tell us because it's not fair getting our hopes up like this.

I told you teh shirt was magic.
The stats prove it – here's our won-drawn-lost tally* since I donned the polyester marvel. :)

teh-shirt.jpg
*Includes only games attended by Jaffa wearing teh shirt.

Won 9, drawn 5 and lost only 1 – compare this to the 15 games I was at immediately before I got teh shirt – won 6, drawn 1, lost 8. That's 32 points from a possible 45, as opposed to just 19 previously.

You can't argue with cold, hard maths, as Doctor Q would no doubt tell you.

Another massive win for Hull, but just as large a win for Carlisle. 3 points into the automatic promotion places with a game in hand over Doncaster. Looking good so far.

The prolific Wes Brown opens the scoring at Old Trafford. :D 1-0 to United. It's on like Donkey Kong. ;)

Ohhhhh, Bye Bye Mascherano. :D

Ronaldooooooo!!! 2-0! Can you hear the Scousers sing? Noooo! Noooo!

Wait, wait, 3-0!! Nani! Can you hear the Scousers sing? I can't hear a ****ING THING!
