Not to bad, "we" can take one point home from Emirates stadium. In itself a nice result, but when you're in the lead for an hour a draw feels like a loss, even away...

<-- The 'tar only helped a bit...

A draw was generous for an Everton side who had one attempt on goal, from what I remember.. that being the goal. I understand its simply the way teams come to the Emirates to play, but it really really frustrates and pisses me off when the only way they get at us is with cheating, and incredibly defensive play.

Ok, we concede the goal from some shocking defending. Fine. We're at fault. Then he have Everton completely under pressure for the entire first half (bar one quick free kick), and the entire second. The problems with Everton's... attitude.. happen in the second half. Tim Howard wasting so much time on goal kick, meticulously placing the ball on the opposite corner of the penalty area to where it occurred, and walking very very slowly back. I think its disgusting, and cheating - but yeah, it happens. It just happened a lot today because the referee allowed it to, and didn't punish them.

One particular example is someone going down in the Everton penalty area, feigning injury. Now Arsenal have the ball (Rosicky) on the edge of the penalty area. Referee dutifully stops the game.. takes the player off (after a long period of time writhing on the floor), the player immediately comes back on, and then Everton get awarded the ball, to kick all the way back to Lehmann. Again, thats just cheating, and taking advantage of the referee.. I guess I can't have a go at Everton too much, as the referee allowed it to happen.

On another day Arsenal playing football like we did could have scored 3, or 4. Rosicky was particularly impressive, and the spirit and desire of Arsenal I thought was very impressive. So yeah, we drop the points, and I'm ****ing annoyed and aggrevated about the manner in which we did, and the fact that we did slip up - we can't afford to - but I am not really concerned about the team spirit or quality.. apart from perhaps the defence.

Great goal by van Persie, and I was pretty ecstatic when that went in..

Wenger on Everton's negative tactics...

I have nothing against negative football if it is played with the right spirit. But I think when every time you have a goal kick you have to expect to wait for the keeper to take on the right then he goes on the other side. You know the scenario. It is something you have seen 10 times and it is less enjoyable.

Another quote...

It was very frustrating, but we shouldn't have conceded the goal in the way we did.

Everton deserve the credit for the way the defended. They were very intelligent and once they went 1-0 up they never came out. But I was not pleased with the way the gained time from goal kicks and free kicks.

When you play like we play we have the ability to open up teams and punish them, but unfortunately we weren't able to do that today.

Pretty frustrated really overall - but Everton should be more than happy with their point...

I actually agree... up to a point, at least... :)

4-5-1 can be a match killing formation, but then when you're playing away the main thing is to try and steal a point or three... defensive organisation and hard work may actually help with that, but it's not the most fun to watch, but on the other hand the entertainment should be up to the home team...

Same thing with using time on all stops in the play, highly annoying, but very efficient as long as the referee allows it. Now, the ref should just have given a warning, and begun booking any stalling, and I bet the problem would be gone. As long as the ref thinks it's good... well, let's just say cynicism wins again... ;)

Fair enough. I think the referee didn't deal with it at all well.

Well, mr. Riley might get a break from premiership refereeing soon enough... wasn't it he who told Cech to get over the sideline to receive treatment, after Stephen Hunt had fractured Cech's skull...?!? Doesn't sound like he's quite up to refereeing matches at the highest level at the moment...

Have Arsenal been taking shooting lessons from the Mighty Tigers?

:D

Arsenal is in a very strange home form at the moment... they must have had, without exaggerating, 50 chances in the last two games, and still just getting one goal against Everton and now nil against CSKA, getting a total of two points in a cople of matches they easily should have won 4-0, 5-0 or even 6-0, with normal converting of all their chances... oh, well... too bad for them... ;)

Maybe they're using the time they've saved playing those matches to practice their shooting? ;)

They are playing tomorrow though, so that'll bring them back up to 10 matches played. That will, by my reckoning, leave both Arsenal and Wigan on 10 matches played while the others have all played 11 – the match between these two teams has probably been shifted a little due to it being too close to a European tie or to allow it to be televised, or something like that.

EDIT: Here we go – it was supposed to be played on 22 August but was shifted due to Arsenal's participation in the Champion's League qualifying rounds.

Thats the idea. :D
Indeed it is, and here's another idea – the old chestnut of limiting the number of foreigners each time is able to field is rearing its head again following comments from loveable FIFA President Sepp Blatter. He proposes a system whereby a team's starting eleven must include at least six 'homegrown' players and no more than five foreigners.

Arse Wenger has already spoken out against the proposal which would obviously hit a lot of Premier League clubs – but what do you guys think about the idea? Personally, I can't see it finding favour among the big clubs and ultimately that's where the power lies. I don't reckon it'll happen.

My not one of the big boys club, Bolton, would be struggling. Yesterday our starting lineup had only one English player. The academy has a fair number of youngsters from overseas too.

The thing is though – given that you can't have 'English' citizenship, only British – would Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish players count as foreigners under this ruling? And if so, how would that affect clubs like Swansea and Cardiff, who play in the English leagues but are of course Welsh – would they have to field at least six English players, or six Welsh ones?

One team this ruling might benefit is Chester City, whose ground famously straddles the English/Welsh border – they might be forced to play six Welsh players and six English, giving them an extra player on the park. :p ;)

I'd assume the 'Grandparent Rule' would come into play for British players.

Great result and performance today! Now it's important that Arsenal carry on winning the next couple of games, with the Man Utd v Chelsea game is fast approaching, there's no room for dropped points.

On another topic: Neil Warnock. I bet he was chuffed to bits with his point against Liverpool on the first day of the season. But he must now be gutted that's it's mid-November and his one point at home against Liverpool is the worst result that a home team has had against them so far!

Football: a funny old game :D

Sweeeeet! :)

I was so disappointed with the game at West Ham, and our "how the **** didn't we score in the CL", that I was dying for a good result.... and it couldn't have been better :D
