Andy must have read this thread at halftime, because he managed to put away Arsenal in injury time.

I think he solidified his spot as a starter for internationals.

BTW, except for Wikipedia, does anybody else actually use "Andrew"...? 😕
I seem to remember (Everton's) Andy Johnson being referred to as 'Andrew' for a spell – sometimes players drop a 'nickname' as they get a bit older and perhaps want to be seen as a bit more serious, an example linked to both our clubs being Nick(y) Barmby. The change to Andrew didn't last for long, though – I think it was round about the time he was just breaking into the England team?

The BBC seem to refer to him as 'Andrew' quite a bit too, although they are a bit stuffy and proper. 😉

What are the chances England steps up in this game against Israel?

And if they don't how fast will McClaren get the boot.

But if we win, we might be so impressed we'll be inspired to put up a statue of him. Hopefully, it will be as fantastic as the statue Southampton have erected in honour of their former great Ted Bates... 😀

But it's a must win game for us. I doubt McClaren would get the boot so early into his tenure, as it would be serious egg on the face of he FA for appointing him in the first place. But if we fail to qualify for the finals then I reckon he might need to start looking for new employment.

Hurrah for slow (Ish) internet at work. Managed to knock it off before it started. See, at home, all the music and whatnot starts while Safari is still trying to work out whey the **** you'd want to visit MySpace and forgets to load the page.
Imagine all the old-style England World Cup records mixed with the worst FA Cup songs, add in the annoyance that is Daz and you can imagine enough not to have to listen to it.

Saying that, I bet it shows up on all the football shows this weekend. And if you're in the BBC North West or Granada regions, you'll hear it sooner or later 🙂

I'm a Pop Side man myself, if that's any better 😛
Ah, but I always suspected you might be one of those. 😉

Unfortunately, we're hampered by the rather unimaginative North, East, South and West stands at the KC so we don't have such colourful monikers. Ah well. 😱

Just found this on YouTube. In a recent Ajax vs PSV game the ref (same guy who did Lille vs man utd) appeared to celebrate after Ajax scored the 5th goal! He said that he was just happy that the played a good advantage! Yeah right!

Ouch dynamicv, just ouch!
I saw that this morning. Ouch indeed!

Luckily, Hull managed to avoid defeat yesterday and didn't concede a goal either, which is excellent news. Of course, we didn't actually play because of the international break but you've got to take whatever positives you can... 😛

Finally something positive for England. But now that Gerrard scored does that mean that Lampard is out? Oh Steve all the questions you will have to answer.

And thank you Wayne Rooney for fracturing Lampard's wrist. At least he is not going to miss any games.

Did you actually see the match? It was a poor, poor performance. England looked disorganised and shambolic in the first half and although they did improve a bit after the break they didn't put on what anyone would call a convincing display – short of McClaren, perhaps, who has described last night's win as 'comfortable'. 🙄

Hopefully though last night should end the question of whether Gerrard should play on the right or in the centre. Lampard has failed time and time again to produce the goods for England, and while I think he's a useful squad player I don't think he's good enough at the moment to be a regular starter for the national side. It's a pity because he's great for Chelsea, but chokes whenever he turns out for England.

Did nobody explain to Gallas that just because your name is Willie, it doesn't mean you have to score with it?

Listened to the Tottenham-Reading game through the BBC news website (never tried it before, but it works for people in the USA apparently...). I can't believe the Spurs couldn't score with all the chances, and needed a dodgy handball call to decide things.

Glad to see Peter Crouch get a hat trick yesterday as well, maybe if he hadn't had a broken nose and played the England/Israel game instead of the invisible Rooney it would not have been a draw. 😛
