I am gutted for Plymouth. Of all the league grounds I have been to that has to have been the best experience. Great set of loyal fans who really make you feel welcome. Ian Holloway is a great manager and that is one time I really don't mind when they beat Hull (well OK maybe I do, but they are a great club so it isn't too bad!).

I...that is one time I really don't mind when they beat Hull
Woah, woah, woah! Steady on there!

I know what you mean though, I've a lot of time for Plymouth and their supporters are generally a pretty good bunch. It goes without saying too that Ian Holloway is quite fantastic. It's just a pity we've let Parkin go out on loan when our potentially crucial final match of the season is against Argyle – I'm certain the sight of eleven men with 'Ginsters' emblazoned on their shirts would have got the pie-loving forward running around the park like a demon. :D

Is Stuart Pearce still the coach at Man City this time next week?

Chances are he will lose tomorrow against my boys in blue, and it will be a tough fixture against middlesbrough on Saturday.

Gotta love Joey getting arrested.

Can Peter Kenyon please offer JT and Lamps 130 a week, just like Ballack and Shev get. I really do not want to see them leave.

Essien is a Blue for at least 5 more years.

At least Peter is doing something productive.

I liked how yesterday he did exactly the same thing that the Prime Minister does when he's got a tricky press conference – potter in holding a mug of tea to look like the ordinary, honest type of bloke you can trust. :D

Dead man walking, though. I fear it's a case of not if but when for Psycho.

"..or where a player would have eight seconds to try and score after receiving the ball on the half-way line."

Hahah! This is the stupidest idea ever. :D

How about 4 points if you win a game by 3 goals or more? That would be actually vaguely useful. Or 4 points for a win even.. although I don't like that so much.

Got a scrappy win today.. they all count. It was an injury torn side.. pretty pleased really.

This is interesting too. I would LOVE safe standing. What I most want in football at the moment.

No, I'd say that playing music after a goal is scored is the stupidest idea ever. But I'd happily concede that the Football League Board have come up with the second most stupidest idea ever with this suggestion. And I'm not just saying that because we're not very good at penalty shootouts.

As for standing, personally I quite like my seat (Don't forget I'm older than you XIII, I can't stand for that long ;)) but I think it would be good for people to have a choice. This issue seems to crop up every few years though, there's a bit of a debate about it and then the idea's quietly dropped...

Thats what I'm worried about. :( Safe standing is better for those who want to sit and those who want to stand - people who want to sit won't have their view interrupted by people standing up at various points, and people who want to stand can stand all game.

Indeed. There's been a bit of talk over the past few days about some of the newer stadia in Germany, where sections of seating can be converted into standing areas quickly and efficiently. Mind, it seems we can't even build normal stadia properly here – given how overdue and over budget the completion of the new Wembley Stadium has been – so something like convertible seating areas would baffle our builders totally. :D

Anyway, on the subject of the penalties-to-decide-matches thing – managers and chairmen have rather predictably 'laughed off' the idea. I mention it again because of Neil Warnock's splendid use of the word 'titivate'.

Meanwhile, away from the hotbed of quality and skill that is the Football League, did anyone catch the Chelsea-Spurs FA Cup tie earlier today? An absolutely cracking match, even for the neutral.

I finally watched it last night, as I missed the live broadcast on pay-per-view over the weekend. Somehow I knew that being up 3-1 wouldn't last. For a couple minutes I was raging over Defoe's shot that hit the crossbar. And we were fortunate that Drogba wasn't really on his game.

Of course, a replay at home is definitely better, and Spurs did beat Chelsea at home earlier in the season. And there's yet another Chelsea-Tottenham game coming up in a few weeks. I'll be sick of looking at Mourinho's face by then. And what's this "special one" crap?

Thing is, speaking as a steward, it's not practical. Not even in high-ish (8000-9000 a week we get at Carlisle) attendances, it's bad to police. If its full and there is a problem its harder than seating to get to people, if someone collapses in the middle they are near impossible to get too, and its easy to loose someone in the middle of that many standing people. I like it, as a fan, but as a steward id hate to see more of it.

Meanwhile, housewife's favourite Mike Newell has been sacked from his role as manger of struggling Luton Town.

I doubt his dismissal will make him sound any more miserable than he already does. :p

I'm quite surprised he lasted out that whole Woman Linesman thing, although some great chants have came out of that episode, for example 'Mike Newell's Sexist Army'... which I think, is comedy gold. :)

On another point, Nugent for England? Lets hope not. I don't like Andy Johnson, but I'd rather bring Emile Heskey out of the England basement... Maybe thats just because he's [Nugent] a Preston player though. Who knows?

Why is someone harder to get to if people are standing? Standing doesn't necessarily mean more people in a smaller area - you could keep numbers the same. There would still be as many sets of stairs and as many supporters in each row - they would just be standing as opposed to sitting. If anything, doesnt it make it easier? - if sitting everyone would have to stand up to let a steward through - standing they can just move back.

In blocks 5 and 6 at Arsenal REDaction stand all game, every game. So much better atmosphere in there.

That was great, I had to look it up. :D

If they're going to change rules, they should address something more pressing, like violent conduct or diving. For example - a straight red for violent conduct should also be accomapnied by a penalty...the dressing room would straighten offenders out real quick.

I'd rather see gamesmanship and cheating dealt with than the terrible scourge of the 0-0 draw. And cheaper tickets while we're at it as well please Mr Chairmen.

I'm quite surprised he lasted out that whole Woman Linesman thing...
I'm surprised that he's lasted as long as he did, too. Not just the lady official thing, he's seemed quite happy to take swipes at his board and chairman whenever the opportunity presented itself. It's almost like he was trying to get the chop... :p

Anything that stirs up bother at our relegation rivals is a good thing, in my opinion. :)

Where O Where was Bolton's back line today. Come on Sam get your boys ready to play.
Bad Luck for Man U, Neville is out, that ankle spain looked bad.

Thank god Chelsea played well and didn't have to scrap out a win. I got to breathe easy at the end of the match.

Everybody sing: "There's only ONE Andy Johnson!" Then repeat for as long as you need... :D :D :D

Couldn't see where our goals were gonna come from today with our top 3 strikers out.. a predictably scrappy goal sealed the loss. ****** football. This season just needs to end.

And still Aston Villa’s new signings fail to perform. I admit a point against Liverpool is one to cherish but until Pat Berger came on there was nothing to get up beat about. Things should be better next season……I hope.

After all the injuries to players in the England squad I hope Gareth Barry gets a start as well as 2 goals. :D :D :D
