That's Scarborough down that link isn't it? Awful news. Only eight years since they fell out the League and they never recovered. :(

On a happier front, County have a new shirt sponsor which the club are touting as involving a record amount of money, which is good, and we've signed Chris Adamson for the Owls. Not sure yet how I feel about that, but the rumour is we've also managed to nab Danny Coyne from Burnley so at least we have options :)

Indeed. Other clubs have suffered similar fates in the recent past but have reformed and worked their way up the Leagues – hopefully Scarborough can do the same. In this situation it's the fans that you really have to feel for... these folk may well have supported their club all their lives, and now it's gone – where do they turn their footballing affections now?

It's not that long ago either that we were padlocked out of our ground and were a matter of hours away from folding ourselves, so I have every sympathy for our neighbours.

Ooo... anyone we know? Hopefully you've got a better sponsor than the one our shirt is spoilt by.

Same here. If we hadn't formed the Trust County would have folded two years ago. I hope the Guppies are kicking themselves now though. We've turned it round completely, something that bunch of idiots couldn't do. Yet they think they're the business brains

Just Search (that's their name, not an instruction :p ). They do all sorts of Internet stuff for large corporates, mostly catering to the Wilmslow belt I think. Better than our previous Scandia, which was Parfett's Cash and Carry's own brand of lager :D

And don't forget the trucks!!!!:D

Some breaking news this evening... Thierry Henry? Him gorn, it seems.

The glove-favouring Frenchman is on his way to Barcalona, apparently on a four year deal for £16million according to a Spanish radio station. It's the same station which was the first to break the news of Beckham and Zidane's transfers to Real a few years back, so it seems a credible source.

He's on Real Madrid's managerial shortlist, apparently. The wind of change blows through the Emirates...

Why they need a change of manager I don't know. Football clubs and Managers work in strange ways tho I guess.

On a slightly related note, I can't see what City fans are worried about with Sven being their possible new manager. The man didn't do anything amazing with England, granted, but so far McLaren is making him look like a managerial god. TBH, I don't think the bloke is a bad manager.

Football is far to fickle sometimes you know, but I'm the worst so I can't talk *Shrugs*

Well, Iain Dowie is looking for a well-paid job at the moment so maybe he'll be favoured over Wenger by Real.

I don't think he is either – certainly at club level, where he had a great record managing in several countries. I think the step up to international management was perhaps a bit too much for him – he developed a habit for pandering to big name players, and seemed to become afraid of taking tactical gambles. But I think he'd do a good job back at club level.

Can't agree more. Nothing to add either. lol

As for McLaren, I kind of feel for the bloke (Or really, any England manager for that) in that he bowed to media pressure and dropped David Beckham, then when England were still ****, and Beckham was playing well for Real they were all calling for his head again because he didn't recall him, then he bowed again and did.

Isnt that the way International football works tho? If your **** for your country, they drop you. Then if you play well for your club you earn a recall. Best thing that ever happened to David Beckham, getting dropped by England. Maybe they should try it with a few more. Fat Frank being first in line.

Also, how I missed it in this thread I don't know. But I'm not bothered in the slightest about Scarborough. Infact, we could be partly to blame, but that was their own fault for celebrating on the pitch before they knew our result. ;) Jimmy Glass is a Carlisle HERO!!!

Short of winning the World Cup or European Championship, whoever is unfortunate enough to be England manager is going to get slated by the press at any opportunity. They might grudgingly settle for an heroic semi-final loss but anything less and they want your head.

I'd have liked McClaren to do well, but unfortunately he was too close to the previous regime to bring anything new or fresh to England. We should have got Scolari when we had the chance. Still, you do feel for McClaren – he had such a great and promising start to his career but it all went downhill after that... ;)

I've got that shirt. :p

Why do I have the sinking feeling that XIII has jumped off of a bridge?

Sorry to see Henry leaving Arsenal. Him being the reason I started following football and all. Now my allegiance-meter is all messed up.

So it looks like Henry is leaving. And what a bad bit of business from Wenger if the 16m£ figure is true. Wasn't he a 40m£ target a season or two ago? They have no one to replace him at all. No doubt Arsene has a 1.5m£ French speaker from Africa lined up to fill his boots. Not. Are there any Gonners here who feel Arsenal have no ambition anymore? Sorry Gooners! I've always liked the passion of the Premiership but now it's getting poorer by the season. I liked the blood and guts English soccer of yesteryear better when there was English spirit in Tony Adams and Ian Wright and a little bit of European magic from Bergkamp. When Arsenal sign players now I've no idea who they are.

Terrible news, terrible bit of business and worrying for what it could mean with Wenger. Bah. F***king Poaching Catalan t***ers.
