We're waiting to find out whether Liverpool have decided to take on two from our Youth Academy. If they do, it's £400k in the kitty which down in League Two is an enormous amount of cash.

Might even be able to buy a goalkeeper before our pre-season friendlies start
Ker-ching indeed. Hopefully too County can wrangle a few extra clauses to up the cash should either or both of the lads eventually break into the Liverpool first team.

If your interest in Matt Duke is true, I expect that you can probably get a bit of change from that £400,000. ;)

Oh the irony of not being able to type S****horpe without it being censored!

Game of the round: I like the look of the Preston v Morecambe game. Bit of a local derby, plus I think Preston could be strong this season if they invest the Nugent money wisely (supposedly off to Sunderland for around £6 million)

Good call that man!!

Even more pressure to get our new signings in place as soon as possible. Tranmere at home I'm quite happy with :)

Signings coming in thick and fast as well, 4th of the close season so far today with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson signing. Good times.
Not a single signing for us yet, though. We'll just have to wait and see.

Crewe away? A decent enough tie I suppose, although with the cup matches I'm always hoping that I'll get the opportunity to see a team I've not seen play before. A home tie against Accrington Stanley or Dagenham & Redbridge would have been good draws from that point of view. ;)

The Stockport Express is reporting today that we've agreed terms with a new centre-forward and a goalkeeper, that a deal with the agent of a defender is looking good, and that we look to have acquired a second goalkeeper on a season-long loan :)

All just awaiting Roger Wylde (our top Physio) to get back off his holiday and sign all the paperwork. So that would be five signings and a loan, money in the bank courtesy of Liverpool and only Tes Bramble and James Spencer having left. It's great to see County coming back to life after going through the doldrums. Players actually want to sign for us again :)

(And just as good that Citeh's takeover is on the rocks :D)

Crewe isn't a bad draw. They almost did Man Utd over last year. Hopefully we will have a strong and united squad by then. Saying that I remember when we put 7 past Crewe at Boothferry Park (7-1) I think. Great days. I must have only been about 12 at the time! How time flies!

Well, the forward is Matty McNeil, previously of Hyde United and Macclesfield Town. Getting on a bit for a forward at 29, but we'll see.

If you go back a page or two you will see that I mentioned starting up a website with football fixture lists for iCal.

Well I have started it today. So far I have managed to upload the home nations international fixtures and you can find them here. Hopefully I will start to get some more things up soon. If someone could just have a quick play to make sure they are working. Thanks.

I've just taken a look at the England fixture list, and it seems to work fine. One suggestion is that you could maybe put in the type of match it is – ie, friendly or European Championship Qualifier? The same could be true of domestic fixtures too, showing whether it's a league or cup match. Just a small point but I think it would be a useful addition.

One other point is that where the teams are listed, a couple are a little hard to read due to the colour – it's a problem with the teams in yellow ( Norwich and Watford for example) and to a lesser extent the teams in the light cyan (such as Coventry and Manchester City). You mention that you're going to update the graphics so this might be something you've already considered, so apologies if this is the case. ;)

Good start, though – it's looking promising.

I have been thinking about the colours and I may just set they to grey. It looks a bit 'amateurish' with the multi-colour setup. Just an idea, what does everyone think?

I don't think the colours are necessarily a bad thing, just that some of them are a little garish at the moment or don't read well against the background. Club colours are a key part of football and they'd be useful to help people spot the team they're looking for, so it might be good to keep them in some form or other.

One simple approach to the problem would maybe be something like this – the page of English clubs used to be treated the same way but for some reason it doesn't seem to be now. It's quite an interesting site by the way, and invaluable for research purposes when I'm dressing my Jaffatar™ up in a new kit for a special occasion. ;)

The fixtures are out! :)

We start at home to Plymouth – how we finished last season, strangely enough – and we have a home fixture on Boxing Day against Wolves. Plus, the big Humber derby against Sc*nthorpe is the Saturday before my birthday. Ace!

I'm quite happy, and looking forward to the next big exciting event for the summer, when the squad numbers are released. :D

We start away at newly promoted Walsall. Can't decide if thats a bad thing or a good thing. Local Derby on New Years Day with Hartlepool coming to visit. Who'd have guessed it, eh.

On a side note, that kit site is ace.

I see your kit, and raise you this one...

:D

It always manages to score highly in all those 'worst kit ever' articles and polls. I've actually been toying with the idea of changing my Jaffatar™'s kit to that one, his 1950s effort is starting to get a bit threadbare after two years of use.

Yep, the first thing you always do with the fixtures is look to see the big derbies. I always want to see when we’re playing the other Yorkshire clubs – but looking through our fixtures I can’t see Leeds on there, as they have been the past few years?

Ah yes, that’s right – they got relegated didn’t they? :p

Ok, you win.

Yeah, we get Leeds sometime in November, bring 'em on.

Last fixture of the season is away at Bournemouth tho, and the second last away at Millwall. So we got a lot of traveling to do at the end of the season. Bit of a downer if things are decided by then.

Edit:

We also have quite a good entry for 'Best, Worst Kit ever' I am yet to meet anyone other than a Carlisle Fan who likes this. Shame about the Player Modeling, really.

We've got our opener at home against the mighty Dagenham and Redbridge. Talk about potential banana skin

August is looking really tough when you stick in the Coca-Cola game too.

D & R - Home
Tranmere - Home
Chesterfield - Away (they're my tip for League Two Champions '08)
Rotherham - Away

Ouch!! Best we get that goalkeeper signed then eh?
