I always liked this one from Manchester United. I wish they still played in it :D

IBut on quite the opposite note, how nice is this? Love it.
I do like that one, actually – quite elegant and understated. I'd like to hear XIII's views.

On a side note - just looking at your badge, and with the nickname ... its so American ...
Cheeky bugger! To be fair, we do play football like an American side but we don't have anywhere near as much money. :p

I think its a very nice kit, but its the wrong ****ing colour. How stupid can Nike and Arsenal be to make our away shirt the colour of our bitterest rivals?

Also, seen the third kit?

As ArseBlogger says: "I have to say I much prefer to the white one which, while a smart looking kit, is not an Arsenal kit because white kits are for ****s."

From AWIMB, thought those of us that take football seriously might find this interesting, I did. :)

Serious question... Why do we love football?

What would make grown men act like children when a goal is scored? Why is it that when a player scores, he goes crazy running around and the fans also go crazy!

Think of Henry's last minute goal against the Mancs, I was thinking about the feeling of joy and happiness you get when that happens. I tried to think of anything else in the world that would make someone feel like that, and couldn’t think of a single thing! There is nothing that can make people that happy in that short amount of time!

That sudden surge of happiness or joy is shortlived but very very powerful! If we compare that feeling to another happy feeling, lets say a wife telling her husband that she’s pregnant, the happiness we get from that is much more powerful than a goal obviously, but the husband will not raise his arms in the air and run around like crazy from joy!

Why is that? Why is it that something so insignificant in the long run such as a goal scored can make a grown man run around like crazy while something so important like having a child will not!

The happiness from the child is long lasting and makes that person happy everytime he thinks about it, while the happiness from the goal is like an overdose injection of happiness that is temporary!

That thrill that sports fans get is something that people who dont like sports will never understand! That surge of adrenalin and sudden joy is incomparable with anything else (except maybe winning the lottery), but us sports fans get that feeling over and over during the course of the season!

So basically, my conclusion to why I love watching football and why it means so much to me is that I’m addicted to those feelings you get just like a drug, you keep wanting more of it!

...
Ha! My philosophical discussion quota for the year is fulfilled!

Thoughts?

Different reasons for different folks, I suppose. For some it might be the adrenaline rush mentioned in the AWIMB piece that you posted, for others it's maybe the sense of belonging that they get from being part of a huge crowd. There's also perhaps something a bit tribal about wearing certain colours and following the representatives of your city or nation as they take on those strange folk from elsewhere. In the olden days you'd set out to pillage another settlement, now you go off to play them in the Johnstons Paint Trophy. ;)

Personally, I get caught up in the game and if we're losing (this happens quite often  ) I get quite agitated because I can't stomach the thought of us losing to whichever bunch of cheats/timewasters/ner' do wells/southerners (delete as applicable) happen to be playing at the time. It's a bit of a pride thing I suppose, like not wanting to grudgingly admit 'Yep, actually you're right – you're better than us'.

On occasions where you've been outplayed by a better team (this happens quite often, too  ) you can hold your hands up and say fair enough, they earned that, but when you've gone behind to a dodgy goal or are experiencing extreme gamesmanship from an opponent, when the goal goes in to equalise – or, even better, to snatch the lead from them – it's a fantastic feeling, you feel totally vindicated and that right has prevailed.

That, and because I look fantastic in amber. :p

The "new" Arsenal cannon is horrible. I liked the old one. A classic like Norton or Triumph motorbikes. Their logos are really old but don't date. This cannon looks craps yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Any Arsenal fans miss having an English player by the way? I'm just wondering. I'd lose interest if we were invaded like Arsenal has. By reports Wenger's habits aren't shifting re new signings either. I thought this year teams had to have a small number of home-grown players in the team or is it the squad? If it's the team and with Hoyte and Walcot being "foreign" ie English and therefore to be avoided, they wont get much of a look in. So who's so good an English player that even Wenger will play him and not just field him to fill the UEFA imposed quota? Nugent would be my choice. Inexperienced and gifted but no track record of succeeding. Sounds perfect for AW.

So he's real! I thought Shittu and Butt was bad. I suppose a reunion with Becks in the MLS is closed to Butt as his life would be unbearable there.
