It's true that Sheffield were relegated partly because they didn't win enough games - but West Ham avoided relegation in a large part because Tevez - a player they never really owned - picked up the club and carried it on his back for enough games to dodge the relegation cutoff.

Personally I think they were just bitter, and the problem we have is as the fans we'll never know the finer points of the Tevez transfer/contract.

I was sick of hearing about it, and tbh it's typical of Sheffield United (Or more typical of Neil Warnock?) to not do good enough and blame someone or something else.

Good riddance, lets hope they don't get back up next year.

I have heard there is an article in the Daily Mail that Jamie Carragher is planning on quitting the England team after being left out of the Euro qualifier against Estonia.

Not sure how correct this is, it being talked about on the Liverpool boards, but hasn't made it onto Soccernet or the BBC.

Edit: It appears on the BBC Sunday Gossip Column

Fabregas says he's staying with Arsenal:

Soccernet link

He said in The Sun: 'I'm very grateful to Real and it is an honour that such a great club is interested in me.
'But after the departure of Thierry Henry to Barcelona I couldn't leave Arsenal in the lurch.
'I spoke to Real's president Ramon Calderon and sport director Predrag Mijatovic and they are spectacular people.
'It was very satisfying to listen to them as Real Madrid is a great club but I have decided to stay at Arsenal.

I didn't even know he was considering a move, but this is a relief even so.

Perhaps, but I remember Henry pledging his future to Arsenal and playing down a move to Barcelona on more than one occasion...

Hopefully Fabregas will be true to his word.

Fair enough. He did mention that Arsene convinced him he'll be managing in the future with Arsenal, which was a big reason Henry gave for leaving (the potential for Wenger to leave next season, that is).

So hopefully we'll keep both of them for a nice while yet.

Cesc also said he'd like to have Eto'o come fill in Henry's slot up front. Seconded.

I'm not sure if anyone saw the Chelsea game today, but thank God it we are not in season yet, no one except Shev wants to take a shot, and Shev is only taking shots when a defender is right next to him ready to block his shot.

Chelsea needs to start shooting within the box. Everyone just keeps passing.

And where was Arjen Robben today? Did they not play him on purpose, in case the deal with Real Madrid does go through?

Has anyone heard if Alex if going to get his work permit?

I see the Premier League have given the Football League £90 million over the next 3 years. That will be one less ivory back-scratcher for some of the chairmen of Premier League clubs.

Granted, it's better than nothing and a step in he right direction. But they better not be buttering the Football League up about that ridiculous idea of the top flight entering their reserve sides into the league... ;)

EDIT: By the way, 925AS – Robben didn't play in LA because he apparently has a knee injury. Read into that what you will.

OK so only a few weeks to go until the new season starts so lets have a few predictions:

Premierleague Champions:

Anyone of Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea

Relegation:

Wigan, Derby and Fulham

Brighton & Hove Albion have just been given the go-ahead for a new stadium. Great news for them. It should be a great little stadium and a great day-out for visiting fans. Far better than playing on a local municipal park (cough Leeds cough).

Relegation:

Wigan, Derby and Fulham

Me and a friend we're talking about this the other day, only the bottom half tho (I'm a United fan, and he's a Chelsea fan, so title talk is strictly off limits :D)

We had Derby going down like Watford, forgettable but tried.

Wigan going down like Charlton, just not good enough this season.

Then we didn't have Fulham (We actually thought with the money they were spending they could be top half), we had Boro. They are going to be poor this season, I can see it happening. We thought this because teams around them are going to do better, Man City were down there with them last season and should be ok. Fulham, as I said we thought will do ok, and I can't see West Ham being anywhere near down there, not with Curbs at the helm for a full season.

Also thought Sunderland would be the 'new Reading' and will do well this season. Although, we also thought Reading could struggle.
