There have been a few lower league clubs who have progressed quite far in the cups in recent years, so it can be done – mind, I'll qualify that by saying none of them have actually gone on to win the competition in question. And while Wigan might not exactly be Manchester United or Chelsea, fret not – we'll do one of them at the KC in the next round. It would be nice if smaller clubs could really truly compete for the FA cup and Carling cup, but it is nice to see them get their 15 minutes of fame with the occasional giant-killing, if I can call Wigan a giant.![]()
Well, it's just two in the past week (at least, those are the only two I'm aware of) which out of the huge number of people who play football professionally each week is a tiny, tiny number. I'd wait and see exactly what's wrong with Clarke first too before drawing any conclusions...BTW, just as speculation, is anyone else starting to find this sudden mass of collapsing and seriously ill footballers suspicious?
Indeed let's hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
On a lighter note, in another of this evening's League Cup ties...

Premier League? You're having a laugh!![]()
Indeed. I've spent the past week formulating excuses that'll allow me to attend a potentially interesting cup-tie...I remember you calling this result a few weeks ago when the draw was made. Seems you have a prior commitment on the date of the next round which means you should draw one of the big boys.

Indeed it is, the remaining Premier League teams go into the hat in the next round. Arsenal at home would be a good one – I'd look forward to welcoming the glove-wearing softies to the KC.So is the next round the top clubs round? I hope we get Hull..![]()

*shakes hands* well played... well played.
Though I had a discussion about this with my bro on Sunday morning, I can't help but think we'd have been better off maybe fielding a reserve side, I don't think we have the depth in the squad to sustain both a cup run and operation premiership, and out of those two... the latter is by far and away the more important of the two.
We've poor home support too...![]()
Third in the Premier League at the moment, by all accounts – that's a place in the Champions League qualifiers come the end of the season. By a very twisted and convoluted tarin of thought it could be claimed that the Tigers are almost on a par with Real Madrid following last night's result. Ace.Granted... but still, they're pretty f**kin' handy.![]()
Meanwhile, it looks as if Arsenal fans' 'Chelski' digs could come back to bite them on the Arsene, as news breaks that David Dein has sold his share of the club to a firm co-owned by a Russian billionaire.
Alisher Usmanov's firm Red and White Holdings doesn't have control of the club but is apparently looking to up its stake in the future.
Sevilla or AEK Athens, is it not?
So far we've gotttttt Roma.![]()
They've just said on Five Live that Dein is becoming Chairman of this company so as I understand it he gets to sell his shares, make £75m and still have some degree of involvement with the club. That might have sweetened the deal for him.****ing wierd really.. said they want to invest not takeover.. Dein can't have been short of offers so I don't know why he has chosen them.

It'll be Sevilla.
