7000th goal for Liverpool is Sissoko's!

I think its Sissokos first for Liverpool too (atleast in the PL)

Meanwhile in the Championship Burnley vs. QPR is off due to one of QPR's players, 18 year-old Ray Jones, being killed last night in a car accident :(

Good Lord, Liverpool's away jersey is ghastly - worse than the yellow one.

Not surprised we beat Sunderland, but didn't think Liverpool would keep a clean sheet.

It's a shame, but I don't think they should have postponed the game.

It's a scenario that is repeated all over the country everyday, just because it's a 'well known' football doesn't make it any more tragic.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for the family, but Carlisle would still play if it we're me. ;)

Good win from Arsenal, missed penalty by RVP notwithstanding. I was happy with how much pressure they were able to apply consistently.

Shame that we had two midfielders playing defense, though, since it looked at times that it might bite us.

It's good to see Clint Dempsey scoring after his missed sitter last week, but it was all for naught for Fulham. I'm sure they are missing McBride.

I saw Ray Jones play at the KC last season – he ended up with his head swathed in bandages. From what I remember he seemed to be a decent enough player.

While I agree that a death is no more tragic simply because the individual concerned is in the public eye, I think it's only right that the game was postponed today. Not only is it a mark of respect towards his family, but the guys who would have turned out for QPR today would have been good friends of his and I don't think it's fair to ask them to play just hours after one of their team mates has died.

I read that instead of taking part in the postponed match Burnley held an open training session today and invited attending fans to contribute to a collection that'll go to a charity of QPR's choice, which I thought was a nice gesture.

So who do you think is going to win today's 'relegation battle' between Man United and Spurs?

It's a classic 'six-pointer' in only the third week of the season. And it feels good!

:D

Tough luck for Spurs today on a couple of close penalty calls.

I see why XIII has Chimbonda's quote in his sig; he'd be great to have on defense with Arsenal, as I thought he played very well today.

I'm so made up with the start we've made, ok Chelsea robbed up last week... but that said, our new signings are performing well, Torres looks good, Voronin is bedding in well, I didn't think he'd make an immediate impact...

I can honestly see a much closer title race between Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool... can't write Arsenal off neither, still got a quality side

The Chimbonda quote is still being used mainly because what it implies about Tottenham I find hilarious.

Sometimes I'd rather be lucky than good.

At least I got to watch this one. The earlier Spurs games weren't on FSC here. At this rate Berbatov might have to carry the team on his back.

Jamie Carragher got really knocked around at Sunderland - a broken rib and collapsed lung!

I was pretty happy with the depth of the current Liverpool squad, but now we'll really need that depth with Stevie and Jamie out. I just want to see more goals - so far the revamped strikeforce been effective but not dazzling.

Sad but hardly surprising - though it couldn't come at a worse time for Fergie.

Is it just me, or does it seem that there is more parity in the league than there was last season? I've heard people saying that it will only take 80-odd points to win the league this year because the mid-table teams will drop fewer points.

Spanish midfielder dies, age 22

Not really EPL news, but a young midfielder for FC Sevilla died today, after a heart attack during the match Saturday.

Soccernet.

When I first saw the headline I thought it might have been Cesc, which thankfully it was not. Still a tragedy for someone that young to go like that.

Read about this earlier. So bad. :(
