I could see Mourinho being interested in taking over at Spurs, though. Not only could he stay put where he’s currently living (a consideration given his young family and his apparent love of the capital), but I can imagine him wanting to prove exactly how good he is to the doubters he has here.

One of my reasons for not giving up completely on Jol yet is that there haven't been any obviously better options available (as opposed to fans just being tired of him). But now? Hmmm. If Mourinho can get them Spurs to play decent defense, then I'm all for it. Actually they can hire a spider monkey if it will somehow mean allowing fewer goals. I'm easy that way.

I see the club have now come out and announced that Jose had to go because of the unrest between him and the club. They felt that it "only right that we explain the reasons behind Jose Mourinho leaving Chelsea". But everyone already knows that's why he left!

I have a feeling that 'The Special One' will go to Spurs. How much would that rub it in the noses of Chelsea if he can create a team to beat them. They have the foundations there, they just need that something extra. The only problem is that the Spurs board like to put their noses into 1st team affairs.

I'd like to see him stay in the Premier League myself.

I do actually feel for him, but it happens. I only watched the first 15 mins of the game (Was hoping to catch the first half, but kick off was delayed by 25mins) and it was shaping up to be a cracker. From what I've read it didn't disappoint.

You get some bad refs in European football, but he was a joke, not a clue about what he was doing. I thought the away goal was top draw, nice slick passing and a clinical finish.

I don't know if they hand out free bottles of milk to supporters or not, but it might be an interesting move.

Meanwhile, doubts have been cast on Avram Grant's credentials to manage Chelsea – he apparently lacks the required Uefa pro licence...

Yeah, read that in the paper today. Vaguely amusing. :p

Come on Arsenal. Lets keep this high going today. :)

Regardless of the UEFA pro licence, many people are casting doubts on his credentials anyway. I have a bad feeling about this and the reports that Abramovich wants to get more involved in team matters... but never a dull moment and all that.

Thought that Benitez has been extraordinarily churlish about the whole affair, though. Even Arsene Wenger had the good grace to give credit where it's due... but Jose Mourinho seems like the happiest party in this whole affair if his interviews are any sign. Probably freed from the constant hassle of all of this and will be fondly remembered by the fans...

Avram Grant is far more expendable than either Mourinho or Claudio Ranieri.

Well, he's certainly not got a fantastic managerial CV behind him, that's for sure. And it certainly does smack of the sort of appointment whereby the chairman is going to have a lot of influence over first team affairs.

I'll be able to give you a first hand report on Wednesday – if Abramovic keeps popping down to the dugout to make suggestions I'll let you know. ;)

You know I had a weird dream a few nights ago, where I was at Hull vs. Chelsea? :p You scored a last gasp winner to make it 2-1, and I remember running over to where the players were celebrating in the corner and going nuts..

Anywayy...
