Silver 16gb wifi.

I tend to tell everyone that if you buy a 16gb iDevice, a kitten dies. It gets their attention so that I can tell them that 16gb is just not enough room. It gets filled up fast. If not, there wouldn't be a 128gb version.

How about an iPhone, is that still too big?

Even out in the field with my Air, I have never thought it was too big. I have owned the mini but always return it due to it's size:)

Choice is good!

You asked me directly to try the Air. I said no thanks because I don't want a tablet that big. That has nothing to do with anyone else's choice.

The iPad mini has a 7.9in display, the iPhone 5s has a 4in display. So, you tell me if it's too big.

I was just trying to get you to see REALLY good hardware.:p

Be cool, you sound a little excited!

It is only a forum.

This generation I switched from a full size iPad to a rMini. I have to said it's taken me awhile to get use the transition but lately the rMini has really grown on me. It's more ergonomically friendly and my wrist never get sore holding it. I'm also more likely to carry it around with me. The best device you have is the one on you.

The display on the Air is substantially prettier than the display on the retina mini, sadly. Here's hoping this changes by the time the third generation is released.

I've been the owner of an iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad with Retina Display.

This time I elected for the rMini purely because I hardly ever carried my previous iPads around with me... I use it nearly every day now!

I looove mine!! Got a 32gb Lte on launch day and couldn't be happier! 2gb or ram would be the nail in the coffin...

do you mean color representation? because the mini has a higher pixel density.

The Air has a color gamut close to 100% while the iPad mini is somewhere around 65%. You know it's an enjoyable experience even by just looking at webpages and photos.

That being said, I still carry the mini with me most of the time since it's so light and easy to carry. My Air (LTE version) sits at home after I bought the rMini. :(

For the few days I owned my mini, I didi not even notice a difference in color gamut. To me it was all about size and already owning another iPad Air I could not get used to the mini and traded it in on another Air. One stays at the house and the other works with me in the field. Having cellular on both gives me all the options I need.

What colour, model did you get. Thinking of trading my Air for LTE mini. Did you compare the 2?

I have both in a manner of speaking. I prefer the rMini to my wife's Air simply because of its size. Because it is smaller, it is not a hassle to take with me anywhere. When using the Air or the rMini, performance is comparable, and I do not notice the heavily harped on color/density issue at all. Ever.
The color of my preferred device will always be the one with a black bezel. The white bezel surrounding the screen is distracting to me.
The data model with the integrated GPS chip is the only way to go in my opinion and since I don't store movies on my device, 32gb has worked out just fine for me.

Yes, color gamut. I can't spot individual pixels on either device and given the smaller size of the iPad mini, I'd probably hold it closer to my eyes than I would the iPad Air, so from a functional standpoint the pixel density difference between the two evens out.

it's so light and thin and the display is so bright and beautiful. it feels great to hold and just incredibly premium. loving it so far, obviously.

Do you feel the 16GB is enough using it with your phone? I'm also considering the iPad mini and I was going to get the 32gb. I also have a 16gb iphone and I'm out growing it. Part of me thinks just get the 16gb ipad but I have a feeling im going to want everything on my phone plus more on my ipad.

Well, it was a gift, so I can't complain -- but 32gb would be better. I'm getting by just fine with this since I don't put much, if any music or video on my phone or my iPad. I've got about 3gb free right now, with 5 GB of music on there that doesn't need to be since I've got google play music, but I said what the hell.

16gb has been more than enough for me on my iPhone. 2.6gb free on it, and I've got a ton of pics and videos in my camera roll.

it was a gift :p

Cool enough, I just think it's funny the look I get when I say it until I explain how quickly that 16gb disappears.. =)

My experience having had the iphone and the ipad both from the beginning, if you have any question, get the largest one you can afford. An iPad you will generally use longer than an iphone. The iphone gets handled more, damaged more, and generally needs to be replaced more often. The ipad, being more expensive and bigger (compared to an iphone on a contract), will tend to be used for a year or more longer than a comparable iphone. Just my experience and that of my clients, but the ipad gets filled pretty quickly with movies, music videos, TV, etc.

Something to chew on as you decide which ipad to get.

Love mine too!

I love mine too!

I remember thinking the iPad mini was dumb when it first came out cause it wasn't much smaller than the regular iPad. Then I played with it in the Apple store and immediately realized how wrong I was. Physically, its perfect. I loved the size and form factor MUCH better than my iPad 3. However, at the time, it wasn't retina and I didn't want scratched eyeballs from all the jaggys so I held off.

Then when the retina model came out I jumped on it and have been in heaven ever since. the device is just so perfect in every way. Looks great, feels great, nice and light, sick battery life, it goes on and on.

I have the 128gb black one and while I love it, I do regret not getting LTE. I'm currently moving and internet is sketchy while I'm between places and having LTE on the iPad would rule. Surfing on my ridiculously tiny iPhone sucks.
