Are you going to upgrade to the 3rd Gen Minimwhen it comes out?:apple:

Hmm, I don't think it's necessary for me to get another one so soon after I bought this one. I understand that it'll be a new piece of technology but I don't need the newest and latest every time something new comes out. I don't have that type of money, anyway. I'm happy with my rMini right now and I intend to stick with it for as long as I possibly can. What's the sense in buying something new if what I have is still working perfectly well and does what I need it to? That's just how I see it.

Thanks! I think I will not sell my Retina Mini just yet...gonna use my cays towards a FIFA 15 preorder.

Air is good, but retina mini is the best compromise to hold in your hand for extended periods.

Just got my retina mini few days ago, screen is no where as good as my Air, colours are washed out, specially blues and greens. I only bought it for book reading and a sonos controller so i am ok with it and it was $80 cheaper. I have photos on both taken with a Sony A6000 and they are brilliant on the air but colours are dull on the mini, even apps are not as colourful.

But i wouldn't have one for my only iPad especially for photos, I have photos on both taken with a Sony A6000 and they are brilliant on the air but colours are dull on the mini, even apps are not as colourful.

I know many who couldn't give a rat's behind about the color gamut differences and would be just fine using it as their only iPad. Guess it just depends on your preferences and sensitivities.

I love my rMini. I wouldn't want any other tablet. It's the perfect size for my liking. The Air is nice, but the screen is way too big for a tablet. If I wanted a bigger screen to look at, I'd just go on my rMBP. The rMini is perfect for what I use it for - reading, playing games, watching movies/Netflix/YouTube vids, etc. It's the perfect iPad for my tastes!

What he said. I love my rMini.

it's so light and thin and the display is so bright and beautiful. it feels great to hold and just incredibly premium. loving it so far, obviously.

I have both the retina mini and the Air. The screen on the Air is stunning, much, much better than the r mini. However, regardless of this fact I use the rMini all of the time now, so much so I have now given the missus the Air.

I notice the difference in the display every time I pick up the Air but the r mini is. Just more comfortable to use now. A few months ago I was of the total opposite opinion but that was due to the non retina mini looking crap compared to the retina iPads.

Most wouldn't know unless side by side.

Exactly.

At this level of screen beauty comparison between the two is practically useless since once the person buys either product and brings it home they will love it.

Only OCD types who try compare and nitpick everything would feel the need to make up flaws in their head about the Retina Mini.

Yeah i am finding the same, my Air has become a Tv on my office desk with eyetv, my new mini is much easier to hold and carry around the house. I had a non retina mini too but didn't like it.

I got my Air on a contract with 4gb a month which i only use when i travel for a few days once a month. Thinking seriously of selling it for what's owing and just tethering my mini to my iPhone on those trips. And see what the new air/mini brings. It's a expensive Tv at $60 a month:)

Wish you lot would be quite haha, it's making me want mine even more :( I placed my order through a work scheme to get a 32GB Black iPad Mini Retina and I am really looking forward to it. Should get it next month sometime hopefully.

I need to get a cheap case though, only want a cheap one as I'll be putting the lovely Noreve case on my Christmas list, had them before. Anyone got any suggestions for a half decent cheap case?

I have the zerochroma case + Smart Cover and I absolutely love it. It does add a bit of bulk to the mini, but IMHO the utility of the rotating stand is worth it and unmatched in any other case I've ever used.

i love my iPad Mini Retina as well but as many have stated the colors are significantly inferior to the regular sized iPad. going from the iPad 4 to the iPad Mini made everything on the mini look washed out and pastel-like. eventually i will have forgotten what my iPad 4 used to look like and the Mini will be normal.

until i get the next iPad....

You need jailbreak and color profiles with a dash of bold. Adds tasty saturation. Looks better to my eyes by quite a bit, even if specs can't be modified by means of software haha (in terms of contrast and such)

The Retina Mini does in fact have a higher pixel density but the Air has better color accuracy and the screen is brighter than the mini.

^^^This^^^

When I got the mini, I set it next to my air and displayed the same image on both. The difference in color was overwhelming. Back went the mini and I now am happy with two Air units. I am more than willing to sacrifice the size for a better screen.

I have both. I can see the difference in color but the portability factor is my main concern. When using the mini all day long I do not notice the difference in color. The air is not as portable therefore is not as useful to me. But it's great to use when I'm at home. I'm just not at home very much. If I had to have only one, it would most definitely be the rMini
But, that is my lifestyle. Each to his own!

I found a cheap case in my nearest Tesco, it's a Griffin Intellicase but it's for the iPad Mini 1, will the Retina fit in it alright? I see it's 0.3mm thicker or something like that.

Oh and the topic of screens, I compared the Air right next to the Mini Retina in the store the other day, fired up Ravensword Shadowland on them both and to my eyes the Mini looked slightly better, not worse.

It may fit, but won't have the hole on he back for the mike. The retina is bigger. I was given a music stand holder for Father's Day and the retina won't clip in, bit it is designed for the original mini.
