The "Should I get the 6 or 6 Plus?" struggle thread (stay positive)

Yeah you don't think packing the plus around in your pocket won't get annoying after awhile? Even if it fits into your pocket it's still massive in there and us guys have something else that needs room in that area. Ohh the iPad will be the 10" no matter what iPhone I get :)

Yeah but i want to experience the better screen and the bigger screen real estate. If it gets annoying, there is nothing stopping me from switching to a 4.7" later. I thought I liked the mini iPad at first but now I would never go back to it after having given it more than a fair shot. Since I have an iPad it would be nice to have a phone with a different UI than the iPad but ... Hmmm id be happy with either honestly.

This article is what I'm referencing. They didn't notice any blurriness but it's not like they had a lot of time with it.

The iPad Air does not create an image larger than the display and then downscale it. The above Ars article did say this about the 6+:

I'm less concerned about performance because I think that will improve with OS updates. I'm more concerned about the sharpness of the 6+ display. My tech OCD would keep me constantly looking for blurriness ;)

IMO the 6+ 1920x1080 display is a temporary bridge to a 2208×1242 one when it becomes financially viable for Apple. I wouldn't be surprised to see a higher density display on an iPhone 7+ so it can display everything at 'native' 3x.
Im the same way.

Aside from the camera (yea... I can't argue against that and have no idea why they did this... perhaps to better justify a $100 price change?), there really aren;t an added features. I am discounting the "iPad interface" because, let's face it, that lends itself to a very large screen. I think that interface would be rather silly on the 4.7" phone. Fewer pixels, lower resolution, and obviously less screen real-estate.

I agree. The biggest issue for me was the OIS in the camera. I assume they could have done it in the 4.7" but like you said, they need to justify the price.

Still the OIS and battery don't outweigh the unwieldy size and sampling. I'll be happy going from 3.5" to 4.7".

What are the chances of me getting the iPhone 6 on release day if I have to wait until 6AM EST (3 hours after presale starts) to order?

Tought to say... I would say slim. This is the biggest launch yet (as they all are). But I think they are capturing folks from a lot of the competing markets with this one.

I was pretty set on the regular 6 as I don't care about the larger size or camera differences, but I've read some rumors that say the plus may have 2 GB RAM - that would make a huge performance difference and would be worth it for me to get the plus. Wish there was a way to know for sure before midnight!

What are the features really? Image stabelization... What else? The iPad like UI...

I don't care about OIS. Had it before in android phones, and really does not matter that much. The iPad UI I guess is what I am most concerned about. I am afraid 3rd party app makers are going to be able to have a really cool interface that the 6 will miss out on. Well I guess if that were the case we would see it in the iPad right? I am keeping my iPad Rmini, so everything should be good. The screen also worries me. I have been wanting a 1080p on the iPhone since i was using my Nexus 5. When I got the iPhone 5s I could tell certain things just were not as sharp as the Nexus 5. Now the iPhone has way better colors, but still sharpness.

I guess I need to make my decision based on function rather than features. I prefer the 4.7 screen, and can still use it one handed. I love that about my 5s. While the 6+ has some great features. I just think I would grow tired of it's size.

Yeah, I feel like I'll probably be waiting a few days after release day for delivery. I guess I'll find out in the A.M. Thank you.

I think ill just buy both test them then make my choice and get a refund on the one i don't like.. i can't take it anymore!!!!!

Now if I could just put my government issued ID and passport on my iPhone I'd be all set...and there would be no need for a wallet.

People keep posting stuff like this.

You go to the store and hold it, great. It doesn't have a case on it and you aren't carrying around all day. There is a big difference. If all you are going to do is use it at home then by all means get the bigger one. But if you are carrying it around all day the plus is going to be a burden to many. It's big and to me a brick because I'm on the go most days.

Contrast is better on the 6. The camera, out here in the real world and not a stat on a piece of paper, for 95% of people, isn't going to be any different.
Battery life will not be 25% better.......not pushing light to that 5.5" screen.
Better, maybe, 25% better I'm going to respectfully disagree.
Display? If you fire up the same video content between both you are going to be hard pressed to see the difference between the two on such small screens (compared to a monitor, tv, etc).

The only real difference I see is screen size. The other stuff is some clever marketing and product differentiation to get another $100 out of you.
I think the 6 form factor is going to be the sweet spot for portability and hopefully next all new version they can increase the size to 5", reduce bevels and give you a 5" in the same size.

I played with S5's and Notes at work this week and the S5 is the right size for a mobile phone. The Note is a brick and the plus is even longer. If you lift weights, run, bike, whatever, that brick is going to wear on you quick. It will be great surfing, watching, playing, toting it is going to suck.

I know, you want the best, top of the line, etc. This is new territory for Apple. But I think some are going to have buyers remorse after toting that plus around for a few weeks.

Good luck in your decisions.

This exactly is what the logical side of my brain is telling me. The reckless side is saying to take the plunge, even though I've never had a desire for such a large phone.

In the end, I think logic will win.

I'm going to take full advantage of that return policy. I think the 6+ may end up being obnoxious, but hey, won't know unless I try.

The thought of sitting somewhere with the 6+ in my pocket isn't adding up though.

Those are all people who have used phablets in the real world. And they've all said to use it for more than a few weeks. Like you I am constantly mobile as well which is why I require a juice pack air (makes the 5 bigger and heavier).

It all comes down to what you want. I agree that the only hindrance of the 6+ is for working out. But with that said, I use a 5+mophie juice pack air and it's only an inch shorter than the 6+ and it's doable when working out. The bigger issue for me is the weight and thickness of the 5+jpa. I have friends that workout with Notes and have no issues though.

You can't knock what the 6+ has to offer. That's just trying to justify the 6 in your mind over the 6+ for your own sanity. Both the 6 and 6+ have their benefits over the each other, hence why this thread even exists. The 4.7 is definitely designed with portability in mind. That's just what it comes down to. But instead of making both of the phones only be a size difference they added a few features to the 6+ to differentiate it just enough to make the decision difficult for us all.

In a month we're going to see a lot of threads about people being happy about having the 6+ and rave about never wanting to go back to a smaller screen. And then we'll see threads about people who just couldn't deal with the size for what they do on a daily basis and had to return it. I think 5" would've been the sweet spot... but Apple was smart about this.

6+ compare to 5s and Galaxy S5

So I made some models out of cardboard and the 6plus fits in my jeans pocket fine...now my only concern is if it will bend. Does anyone have any night into iPhone bending? When I sit down with the phone in my jeans pocket it will definitely be under a little pressure as I tend to wear levi 513 slim straight jeans. WHAT DO I DO???? I WANT THE 6 PLUS!

It won't bend. It may peek out of the top of the pocket though those do have deep pockets so maybe not.

Why would the plus use 2gb of ram and them short change the 6 with 1? Doesn't make sense.

Because of the screen.

Why have they already chosen to short change 6 users with a lower PPI screen, no optical stabilization, and worse battery?

Wouldn't surprise me if the 6+ had 2GB of RAM and the 6 had 1GB of RAM.
