The FF16 demo came out yesterday. I already had a preorder down but I indulged myself.

I played 7-10 and it's great to come back to the series.
The "feel" of the gameplay seems a lot like DMC V from what I've seen so far, am I correct to think that? (Big fan of DMC V here, it's why I'm asking :) )

I am waiting for the Slim as well
I'm happy that I got the PS5 when I did. I've said this already where the Xbox collected dust, I'm using the PS5 all of the time. With that said, I absolutely hate the design of the PS5, its just so awkwardly large. A slim version would definitely be a plus. I've not followed up on any rumors but I suppose if its coming it will be done so for the holiday season which is around the corner.

Don’t use my PS5 enough to warrant replacing it. I will stick with what I have for the foreseeable. Haven’t even switched it on in 2 months or so - waiting for Assassins Creed Mirage So don’t want to start another game now…. Lol

And now: Salt

The Spider-Man PS5 console covers sold out instantly the moment preorders opened up. I cannot believe this crap is still happening. And how the hell did Sony run out of these? It's literally just plastic molds, not a whole console that has to go through a silicon dye process.

They're purposely manufacturing rarity to make it more valuable. What irks me is the same nonsense that's been happening for years. The general consumer is unable to buy these, and instead the scalpers swooped in and bought them. If Sony really cared for consumers thy would have enabled safeguards to limit or inhibit scalpers, but they don't care - they're still making money either way

They made a lot more Spider-Man Edition PS4 Slim/Pros than they did of the PS5 console covers. That's just sad

I'm just so happy that my PS5 is quiet! It no longer sounds like an airplane is gearing up to take off in my living room.

Hey, I am having the same kind of weird sounds in my PS5 lately . Can you tell me what can be the issue? Is it going to dead soon? lol...

In all honesty, its something I didn't even think about or consider. Maybe I'm lucky but my PS5 is very quiet, I don't even notice it on

I see people saying the PS5's size and design is what keeps them from buying one and that concept completely baffles me. I mean the size is mainly due to the massive size of the cooling system, that's why it is so quiet. As to the design, get some 3rd party side panels if you don't like the popped collar look, that's what I did (translucent purple Darkplates 2.0).

I honestly doubt, if there there is a slim, it probably be won't be that much smaller than the original. Sony's more likely to be worried more about making a Pro than a Slim this time.

I can only provide my opinion.
The PS5 does not have a uniform shape which makes placement that much harder. If you stand it up vertically the edges flair out and there's a hump for the optical drive. While you can have it horizontal, those flared edges impacts the room needed. There's no way I can have this console sit underneath my TV.

Gotcha, I guess I lucked out as it fit in my IKEA TV stand (Brimnes). I also still have my fat PS3, so the 5 doesn't really feel all that big.

Tho, I do recommend, if you want to kinda shrink the thickness a bit, getting 3rd party side panels. They either reduce, or completely remove the popped collar.

I just think it's really ugly even without the "popped collar". The worst looking PlayStation IMO. Size makes it hard to place too. Not all TV stands have room to have it horizontal with room to breathe I don't think.

The Series X is also really quiet while being smaller to boot.

That's the great parts about discussions, we don't have to agree.

I like my Series X too, and it also fits perfectly in my Brimnes unit.

I guess I just don't get the visceral hate over console designs, they's just electronics, you're supposed to be focused on what's on the screen. Hell, if you (in the general) hate it, get a hide away set up, or a wall mount and put something over it to obscure it.

Those look interesting, Many of them seem to have fan vents, and at face value, that should make the PS5 run cooler, but after watching a number of videos on this, that doesn't seem to the case. I think you save 5c degrees. With that said, those flared collars and vents are well designed in that its moving air the way Sony intended.

I have my PS5 set up in a managable way, though I really wished I could have had it lay flat under my TV like I did with my PS4.

I think the Xbox X looks better and doesn't stick out like the PS5 but the PS5 is more playable for me. I find I use the PS5 daily where as the Xbox was barely used. I'm not knocking the Xbox, it has a lot going for it, but the platform really didn't strike a chord with me

When I buy a PS5 I will buy faceplates for it so that it blends in better in lounge.

I keep coming about PS5 Pro rumours. Frankly, I’m not interested in hardware updates for it or the SXS. The upgrades will likely be meaningless as most games will continue to be frame rate capped for the lowest common denominator. Developers have shown that they are not keen on variable refresh rate or ray tracing. The latter has proven to be a buzz word. It’s barely noticeable in some games and more than often is not worth 600cal for.

Well, I’m another one of those who didn’t buy the PS5 day one because of its huge size. And 660GB of free SSD storage was clearly insufficient for a digital consumer like me (I don’t buy disks since the PS4 gen). And I know you can expand the storage, but I find it ridiculous to ship a console with less than 1TB of drive in 2023.

I also had a PS4Pro back then, so I didn’t need a new console; and now I am waiting for the PS5 Pro or the slim model. If the Pro is as big -or even more- as the regular PS5, I think I’ll just get the slim model.

By the way, with the recent revisions Sony has managed to reduce the heatsink and the overall weight of the console in a noticeable amount. If they finally switch to 5nm they will be able to build a smaller PS5 without much problem.
