To justify that kind of money, there will need to be a much bigger performance boost than with previous new gens.
It is going from custom RDNA1/2/4 to RNDA5 so it should be a big jump. CPU uplift should be pretty big (Zen2 to Zen5/6) as well.To justify that kind of money, there will need to be a much bigger performance boost than with previous new gens.
Bye bye physical games. This will save sony R&D and production costs for PS6.
Might be true for older ps4 games. However many recent titles including on xbox, have discs ther don't contain the full game. But I understand that this will not work for everyone, especially with varying quality of internet connections.
Yeah PS3/Vita people should get larger storage units and download everything they bought. Though I don' even know if magicgate sticks (vita) are still being sold these days.Earlier this week Sony announced that it will be taking some "purchased" movies away from people who paid for them. There's no reason to believe that they won't do the same with games. Once this change occurs, you won't be able to buy games, only lease them for an indeterminate period of time. I certainly won't be buying a PS6 when it comes out.
I see that they're shutting down the PS3 online store next year too. If you're a "game shuffler" where you find yourself deleting game X to free up enough space to redownload game Y, then you're going to be stuck with the game collection that you had at the time of the shutdown.
What a mess.
That wasn't the first time they did that. Basically the gaming and entertainment industry has largely forced us to accept that we don't own our games or movies.Earlier this week Sony announced that it will be taking some "purchased" movies away from people who paid for them.
This is why I started buying bluray movies again last eeek. Used ones form charity shops for $1-3. Cheaper than on iTunes or streaming and with far superior sound quality. That wasn't the first time they did that. Amazon has made similar moves with their kindle, in that they've deleted books from people's kindles
Me too, in all honesty. This is why I started buying bluray movies again last
If you use CFW (custom firmware) on the Vita, you can use microSD Card adapters that cost around 5 bucks. Although SD cards themselves are more expensive (we all know why)Yeah PS3/Vita people should get larger storage units and download everything they bought. Plus they can just decide to make movies not available. 28 Days Later wasn't on streaming services for the longest time. When you buy a digital movie. The publisher can throttle bitrate up and down as they wish in order to cost optimise. As a result, a movie that you buy today could sound or look worse in 1 year without you having been informed.
And it seems that Sony is pushing through, even with all the online backlash. The only factory in the world were they still made games, in Austria (for those in doubt: country in Europe, not the same as Australia ;-) ), people already got briefed that the manufacturing lines for games will be closing and that they'll be educated to work on other assembly lines.
