The SS Apple Watch Leather Loop update thread

So now after reading the article about the Taptic from the one factory, how are people feeling and what are you thinking? I knew there had to be a reason. I wish they had said something from the start. I had someone at work tell me to cancel the Leather Loop and try a different combination. I don't think any other combinations are shipping faster.

I'm an Apple guy but I'm on the fence here. They screwed up big time on the supply, if there's a problem with the Taptic how come there's a bunch of Watches with Classic Buckles and sports bands that were shipped today? Maybe it's true, maybe it's just a PR thing/coverup considering how alot of people were getting mad at the delayed deliveries already.

The stories all more or less said that the issues were caught in production BEFORE they were released. I haven't seen to much about taptic failures with the watches out in the wild.

Delayed deliveries? Earliest group still has up until May 8th, after that they could call their order delayed...

My parents ordered the 42mm SS Stone LB as a graduation gift, now I'm eagerly waiting. It was ordered on the 19th, so I'm in the "June Delivery." However, after seeing that the LB's on the 10th haven't even shipped, it really makes me wonder how long it will be before mine arrives.

I'm just going to wait and hope that they're busy making a bunch of them, that way when they start to ship, we'll all get them quickly. (This is much easier said, than done.)

Has the announcement changed anyone's determination to wait it out? I know I am more determined to wait it out, just to see how it will look. Hope it will all be worth the wait.

If there's any truth to the taptic situation, I don't see how that would in any way have meant not a single leather loop SS watch would have shipped by now. This is some other reason.

What I don't get is why these bands weren't being produced months and months ago. And if they were, that doesn't look good in terms of production numbers...

Apple doesn't produce anything months in advance. They are a just-in-time operation.

I spent a number of years in supply chain management, manufacturing items (including leather goods) in China. It is not uncommon for a factory to produce an acceptable batch of product samples, and then when they go into full production they can't produce the same level of quality. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what happened with the leather loop bands.

For a company to produce hundreds of thousands of bands in advance would mean they would have to store them until they were needed. Also, given there are so many watch band options they would almost certainly have a surplus of some styles and still be under stocked with others. Storing the bands for this amount of time would be a waste of money. Wasting money drives up production costs and ultimately the consumer pays a higher price for the product.

Apple knows what they are doing. It has not even been a week since the official release. There are always people who have to wait for new products. Instant gratification is not a gaurentee. I am going to be excited to receive my watch whenever it comes and it looks like it will be one of the less common and more unique bands whenever it finally does arrive. I am frustrated, but waiting is the price of admission for some of us..

I actually just placed an order for a SS with blue leather loop and this has me worried now. Delivery date says June but hoping it is somehow moved to May.

Just saw one of the new commercials for the Apple watch, I paid attention to what bands were featured just to see if there was a leather loop band. There wasn't a single one. I found that interesting. It was a good commercial, spotlighting different features in different situations.

I just saw this commercial after your post and I paid close attention....when the man is raising the sail in the 1st part of the commercial he is wearing a blue leather loop...also when the man kneels with the old man there's my black leather loop!! Damn u Apple I want my watch

I just have two loops on order and have no clue why they can't start shipping them yet. A band like this can't be hard to manufacture.

Tomorrow is the day, I tell myself...

I'll wake up tomorrow and my 12:03am PT order will be in preparing for shipment status. I tell myself this ... so I can continue living.

Oh, and while we're dreaming, that modern buckle SS watch I ordered for my darling wife will also ship tomorrow. Oh yes.

Eh, it happens. Apple said they should have something by 5/27. I just hope that I have the sport band I ordered so that I can do a band swap for a smaller leather band.

Hey guys - just letting you know, you're not alone. None of those that ordered the link bracelets are shipping either. (and those of us that ordered the space black got June dates right out of the gate).

My guess - there were fewer orders for these than the sports or the SS with sport bands, so Apple's trying to keep the majority of customers happy by shipping the others first.

Not sure if we'll ever get the complete truth.

Hopefully May sees some shipping dates for people.

Does anyone know - when the order status changes do I get a notification on iPhone?

Also saw a few comments that people had placed additional orders on SS with sports band and they turned up within days?! I'm debating whether to do this and then order separate leather loop....

I believe that when it changes to "Preparing for Shipment" you should receive an email notification.

I also thought about changing my order to the SS WSB, but I found that most of the people who were receiving those were outside of the U.S...

Maybe you'll be lucky and receive it quickly. It's hard not to be impatient when reading all of these watch threads... It's hard not to read all of the threads when you're eagerly awaiting the arrival of your watch.
