TBO I thought that was known for sometime tnx to that TV interview.
But, it seems confirmed now.

Well, the current Stig might care as in the next series of Top Gear he may find himself killed off
Must be really difficult keeping your job a secret when it's as high-profile as this.
Some secret - his name was posted in this very forum about a year ago.
I guess the newspapers had an informal agreement to keep it under their hats? I note The Times wasn't reporting on The Stig's identity, but rather reporting on a story in a Bristol paper about The Stig's identity!
Also, Black Stig voluntarily revealed his identity hence he was killed off (although I suspect there were already cracks appearing in the relationship before this happened.)

Black Stig basically tried to sell his autobiography on the fact he was the stig. I think that was the main reason for Perry Mcarthy getting the boot.

Or is it to kill this one off, and introduce a new Stig as his true identity has already been compromised...
