I really want to give BBC America credit for bringing these over to the States, but the program is so hacked up it's unwatchable if you've seen the originals. I don't want the show to be edited or Americanized.

I can't stand the BBCA versions either. Terrible. I understand they can't use the same music for contractual reasons, but they can change that and leave the rest alone, but instead they hack the entire thing up. Torrenting is the only way to go.

Ugh! That Insignia OPC VXR review was horrible! Why didn't they give it to Clarkson that hates all that is Vauxhall with the exception of the Aussie sourced ones? It would be entertaining to watch Clarkson squirm as he has to admit that he likes a mainstream Vauxhall. :p

Well iGav, I was a total newbie to Clarkson and TG in 2005, and for a while I was sucked in and enjoyed it. But I can see now why you thought the shinyness had worn off...after a few seasons it gets a little repetitive and they are trying too hard to appeal to a broad audience.

There are still good bits in there but I think the show may have jumped the shark. When you watch the Russian Top Gear and see how cheesy it is, you realize that the original TG is really not vastly different, just better produced and with a bigger budget (nowadays it seems like they have a Hollywood movie budget!).

Literally several people are probably very excited about the upcoming US-version of Top Gear, which will be called Gear.

The hosting lineup: proffessional racing driver Tanner Foust, comedian/actor Adam Ferrara, and NASCAR (yuck) "racing analyst" Rutledge Wood.

I strongly suspect it will be a farce, but I'll probably watch it anyway, at least the first couple episodes. Just to sneer.

Do you think there will be a constant barrage of UK users asking for copies of it to be 'made available'? No?

It will be a cold day in hell when people from the UK admit that they enjoy anything American aside from Hollywood and Apple. ;)

(Well chavs seem to like our fast food...)

South Park, Futurama, Simpsons, Flight of the Conchords (although really that's British), KFC. We love them all.

That already sounds terrible - you cannot replicate the chemistry between the presenters and the British humour present throughout.

My roommate's a Kiwi and he would surely dispute the nationality of FotC. ;)

But I put TV/Movies/Entertainment all under the "Hollywood" heading...It's America's last great export.

I don't want to reject it out of hand, but I'm afraid they will try too hard to Americanize the show, and of course the interactions between the hosts will be nothing like the original. It will be about hot rods, trucks and NASCAR I'm sure. Although, to be frank, the original TG is jumping the shark anyways...the presenters are still funny but very self-indulgent.

New series starts next week

8pm on Sunday 27 June, BBC 2 and BBC HD

BBC said:
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig return for a brand new series.

In this first programme Jeremy asks why there aren't more three-wheeled cars in the world and investigates further with a closer look at the 1980s comedians' favourite, the Reliant Robin.

Meanwhile, James gives Top Gear's favourite warhorse, the Toyota Hilux pick up, one final assignment as he attempts to drive one up an active volcano in Iceland; and The Stig rips up the track in the new Bentley Continental Supersports.

Plus, Richard gives the old Chevrolet Lacetti a dignified send-off before he and Clarkson host a star-studded tea party to welcome in a shiny new Reasonably Priced Car.

About time! :D

Top Gear back this Sunday! Anyone see the advert during portugal match today? Hilarious!

Some people in a car happened to see some crazy cars on the road so started filming. When they realised it was JC and crew they go mental. They must of sent it in and it got used for an ad. Brilliant!

Another hillarious advert campaign is Hyundai's "Top Deer" collection, available on YouTube.

S14 was a bit of a dissappointment, but based on the sightings and spoilers for S15, I have much higher hopes.

Okay guys....

Forget the Argentina - Mexico game tonight...

Because, from 8 pm (BST) or 9 pm (CET) it's the BBC's finest hour: Top Gear!!!

I wonder if the Top Gear Trio has done a "in case England get wacked out of the WC by Germany" bit... :D

EDIT:
Was fun! The Reliant Robin "epic adventure" was particularly funny.

Oh come on... it was dreadful.
I must say, I had a bit of a chuckle but it went on far too long and what was the point? It was like they'd run out of ideas at the end of the series and used it to fill up a slot, yet it was the first epoisode!
