The first time he rolled it over, kind of funny although it screamed setup. The 10th time? A bit crap.

Beyond crap more like.

Top Gear still suffers from what it's always done, it's still far too scripted, far too rehearsed and you get the feeling that the only thing more forced than the laughter is the banter between the presenters.

And in the latter respect alone it pales in comparison to the banter you get between Tiff and Plato on 5th Gear for example.

But not only that… there's almost no F**k**g cars in it anymore… 10 minutes of a Bentley and then 20 odd minutes of 'A Star In A Reasonably Priced Car'.

It's like Fizzoid says, "It was like they'd run out of ideas at the end of the series and used it to fill up a slot, yet it was the first episode!"

The format's dead.

F**k me do I feel like Mr Agreeable today.  :D

I liked the Reliant part (yes, it was repetitive, but they at least put it at the end of the show). I also liked James' volcano segment.

They actually had car news during The News, which itself was a pleasant surprise.

My main beef with the Bentley Continental GT Supersport review was that it recycled the tire-shredding from the Bentley Brooklands review (which was all around much better) and they recycled the "weighs as much as a house" joke - RH used it to describe the Escalade in an earlier series.

They introduced the Lacetti the same way they did the KIA, however they used a higher grade of guests so the cocking about didn't grate so much that time.

I'm surprised you ever watch Top Gear, when was your last favourite episode?

I found it funny, wasn't the best, but rather have this than none at all.

I think the extended SIARPC segment was because it was a new car and they needed to get some lap times up, they did that when they got the Lacetti too. Hopefully everything will return to normal next week.

And I was still hoping for the Dacia as the RPC. Maybe next time.

I wish they did more actual car stuff, rather than trying to appeal to people who couldn't give two hoots about cars. The endless supercar features are kinda annoying as well. I find them boring after a while - there's only so many drag races you can do.

I find the magazine a lot better - loads more car stuff in there, with gadgets and columns too. It's brilliant but it's expensive - £5 :(

I thought this was an okay episode.

Bently - meh
SIRPC - Better than the last 'new car' segment, but still dull. The montage of the previous car was pretty good.
News - Some good bits. I liked the 'new' Dacia joke.
Burial - Very blah
Robin - The first few minutes were funny, but all of the repetative roll overs and "Oh, look! - a famous person to help me." got old fast. I did like the A-Team montage since that's a running joke. Training wheels were a bonus too.

Hopefully the Porsche Boxter Spyder segment next week should be good! I recon they'll have the Ferrari 458 on as well at some point?

The whole format is getting very stale. Clarkeson's comments on pretty well every car are predictable, the 'foreign challenge' segment is always the same sort of thing, the Stig's introduction is a joke that's pretty much run out.

That said, it's still one of the more entertaining things on TV. Shows how bad the rest of TV is.

Predictable? Yes.
Still funny? Yes.

That absurd 3 wheeled car thing tipping over and over and over just cracked me up.

Top Gear always has such nice camera work as well, even if they do overuse the vignetting a bit.

Without the sense of it being scripted it wouldnt be as funny because you would actually be sat there thinking, no worrying, about how many times that Reliant flips. Knowing its part scripted takes away the uncertainess of it all and makes it easier to digest and enjoy. It's been a huge hit for years now. It's can't be wrong!

What about James May driving up a volcano. Liked it but thought it was a bit short.

A better episode tonight. Really enjoyed the track day cars/branded clothing. If only as it's oh-too-close to what I see on track days :D

All the Dacia jokes give me the feeling they're building up to something later on in the series, kinda like in the Romania special where they kept spotting it everywhere they went.

I like the Dacia jokes, they seem completely pointless and it's a gag, much like Captain Slow and Hamster.

Good season so far, I hope there's a big episode in this one, I love those (American road trip, Africa and so forth).

You are SO right. They become their own tired parody, they are repeating themselves and the show is more predictable than an episode of that horrible Little Britain. Well, maybe not...

Yet, there is nothing worth watching on UK TV that is home-made. I realised that apart from a few boring panel shows and This Week with Andrew Neil, I only watch US shows.

Wow, I thought the episode this week was great! One of my favorites in a long long time.

Track Day Challenge - Good stuff, but you know they had to cut some for time. Plus it's always great to see another relative of the Stig.

Porsche/Porsche - I know last week James said he was going to test the new Spyder, but that special edition 911 was a nice added bonus. I thought it was a nice change of pace to see James genuinely enjoy testing a car review as well.

SIRPC - I guess it was okay. The interview seemed heavily edited and somewhat akward though.

Got to agree. Could've been a really nice interview. The editing on Sunday's show was the thing that let it down for me - many things were cut out because of time limits.

The Stig has a very large and diverse family, but I was expecting to see the Stig's German cousin dressed in Lederhosen or a brown shirt. :D
