I would love for someone to shut us all up and post a video of you using this phone one handed. Hop in front of mirror, turn the video camera on, shoot some video, post something on macrumors one handed including the video. I don't believe you can. I am 6'3" and have good size hands and it's not even close to being usable as a one handed device. I have yet to see anyone post it being usuable as a one handed device. Yes, I believe you can hold the phone with one hand, yes you can answer the phone with one hand...but you can't text, browse, shoot video/photos, etc...with one hand.

Why must a phone be used one handed?

Its just handy apple thought not everyone might want 5.5 so they made two sizes. Best to just try for yourself.

I do wish they reduced the bezel size a little on the 5.5 but then i didn't see the prototypes to know why they didn't.

What boggles my mind is why OP posted this thread at all.

All I can assume:

A) He loves his phone choice (Awesome!)

B) He wants 6 Plus owners to not love their phone?? (Why??)

I've never gotten something that I love so much that I feel the need to run home and bash all the other variants of THE SAME THING.

Controversy for the sake of controversy.

The truth is that whichever phone size makes you happy is the right size. I personally have medium sized hands so I went with the 4.7" iPhone. Which made the person behind me happy because he wanted the plus..

It's a matter of opinion..

Why must a phone be used one handed?

Phones can be used two handed, however, having a phone that can't be used without two hands seems like what a tablet is for. A smartphone should at least be capable of being used in both ways, not just one. And like a user pointed out earlier, nobody has been able to show that they can effectively use their phone 1 handed.

The phone isnt that big. Im about 6ft normal size hands coming from the note 2 and 3 and have had zero problem with it. Even went to the apple store to make sure I didnt want a smaller phone and the 4.7 felt like it was the size of the iphone 4 after having a huge phone for 2 years. Also Unless you use swipe as a keyboard you are more than likely using 2 hands anyway

First, that's The Verge. Awfully biased.

Second, that's an opinion. Again, awfully biased.

Third, make up your own opinion. And again, that will be awfully biased too.

There is no truth about subjective matters. Except that it's awfully biased.

Fair enough, and guess what? You can use the 6 Plus with one hand.

Besides, their review of the 6 Plus really sucked anyway. Their piece on the 6 was much better.

When did it become a rule that all functions in a phone must be done with one hand? I love the big screen and could care less that it takes two hands to do some things. I want the bigger screen and am happy with the size.

If I get time I'll take you up on that offer. I'm a little taller than you but I'm doing it right now. It's just not as quick as two handed but it's def doable. I'm able to do all of the above and keep my left hand free for...other activities

I have a brilliant ideal here. If you don't like the 6+ then don't buy it! Who really cares what one reviewer thinks? Opinions are like butts, everyone has one. Some are just bigger than others. I don't see why everyone has to moan and groan about the 6+. I certianly don't see anyone holding a gun to anyone's head to buy it. If the plain 6 is good for you who am I or anyone else to judge? To say "the truth about the 6+" is just ignorant to me. It's so easy to pass judgement on stuff until someone passes judgement on you then you get offended. Just let people make their own decisions and let them make up their own mind. *steps off the soapbox*

Read this from The Verge.

While gaining screen size, you just loose ability to handle the phone. You gain very little extra screen size and loose a lot in usability. 5.5" is really small compared to even an iPad mini and it is simply not a very productive size (though you would wish it to be).

Not every user will think that way - or they make excuses to not think that way. Of course. If you just watch movies and write a lot on your phone (when sitting and not on the go), the 6+ is a good choice (though you should use handoff/continuity today and pretty much replace much of your phone use to be more productive).

This is not to justify my own purchase if iPhone 6. I have had Note 3 and know exactly what I want. I want ideally 5" screen and the exact design of iPhone 6. What I think is the best phone design ever built.

Just think about it. 4.7" is quite a big screen already. Do you really need a 5.5" phone? I would wait till they shrink the bezel and give it 2 GB ram. But it would need to be a much smaller bezel. Even then, consider it. I hear a lot of people who are returning the 6+ for the 6 - not as much the other way around.

I've been using my 6 Plus and I love. Went by the store and held a 6, the screen looked just like the 5. I guess I've already grown accustomed to the larger screen. I'm sure I'll never be able to go down, but you may eventually move up ;)

I wouldn't consider that to be the truth as much as it is a bias review. Everyone has different needs and to justify one over the other is just foolish.

Biased review lol...

Just by holding the phone in hand, you can understand where the review is coming from.

If you think that there are no compromises in one handed use, you must be a giant.

I am 6'3 and have bigger hands, and I love my plus, but the 6 is a much better phone for one handed use. I'm still keeping my plus.

There's no way the Verge wrote this.

I'm 5'4" with munchkin hands, and I fecking love my 6 Plus.

That's MY truth.

I purchased both a iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the intentions of trying each out and returning the one i didn't care for.

After a couple days with each here is what i found.

Where as the 5/5S was a one handed device the iPhone Plus is a two handed device (at least for me). The real problem was that the iPhone is a 1.5 handed device, meaning it is kinda awkward no mater what i do.

So i am trying to decide between the Plus or going back to my 5S. The 5S is the ergonomic fit but the awesome battery life of the Plus is probably gonna win me over, Ill just have to learn to use two hands :)

I'm very productive on this phone. I was not at all productive on the 4 inch 5s (I felt like I was just wasting time using it), with this device, I can actually write, read, and do effective tasks on the go. I really don't get the complaints with this device — it's absurd really. My only real complaint is that it's a tad heavy, but I'll take that if it comes with a better battery (it does).

There is no rule that says phones must be able to be used while one-handed.

It is the truth that for many people, it is not a good choice. Many go with it because it is the flagship phone and the new, hyped one.

As someone who bought the 6, I'd say that is what the return period is for. For the first couple days, I've considered returning my 6 for a 5s but I decided to keep the 6. For many women, the 6 is already a two handed device so some will go for the 6+. I'd stop worrying about what someone else bought though.
