Sorry for the mundane question but...

I'm out of contract with o2 but intend to upgrade. When it's up on their website, I assume I can do the whole transaction online? I'm fortunate to get a 30% monthly discount as one of my mates works at o2, so going to another provider is out of the question. Besides, I've never had any real probes with o2 coverage.

I queued up for the 3G launch but Im not that fussed this time about getting it immediately, so long as it arrives within a couple of weeks I'll be happy - partly to do with getting an iPad I think, that's totally satiated my gadget lust....for now :)
You should be able to, though you might not be able to do the 30% off bit, why don't you just give your information to your friend and he can do it for you as soon as he goes to work?, no doubt he would of been told that he has to work that day.

Same here. Let's hope they send out pre orders (if o2 actually do it) for delivery on the 24th. I'm still hopeful that all the muppets at o2 that said there will be no pre orders were just clueless.

Someone over at AV posted this:
'Jus off the phone with my best mate, assistant manager @ orange store Hull. The prices are on his system now.

Payg 32gb £570
payg 16gb £480

contract prices are £30 more than existing 3GS contract prices. Orders open in the morning. You must chose contract or payg as you order. Orange cannot provide any other micro sim at the moment other than the iPhone contract or payg, so no sim only shennanigans with them.'

Really? Ouch..

£570 for the 32gb?... hmm.. could be about right considering the extra VAT and conversion... i paid about £540 for my 32gb 3G S payg from apple at launch last year so....

just a thought... IF o2 are not doing pre-orders tomorrow, do you guys think they will still show prices?

Maybe they want to leave to the 23rd? I don't see why they would, but just a thought.....

I work for O2 marketing. You are hopefully aware of the daily iPhone 4 "countdown" emails that we have been sending out and I'm sure you'll be excited to hear that the topic of next Wednesday's email will be the definition of the term "douche" (we're really been struggling to find things to talk about by then).

P.S. Some, all or none of the above might be made up.

You could always bring up the topic of lack of 3G in my area if your that bored :)

It's okay, they can do it retroactively, they did that last time. My mate cant do it, he's an engineer, he even worked on the infrastructure for o2 originally and had to sign an NDA!

If they are true then they could certainly be worse - not bad considering that the £ has weakened by about 10% against the $ since the 3GS prices were set last year.
I highly doubt the contracts have gone up another £30, noone would pay a min of £55 a month for a crap price plan for an iPhone, surely the min contract plan has gone upto £30. As for those prices of the phones, well for hanset only prices they are within expectations.

i dont think he means the contract per month prices have gone up, i think he means the iphone price to buy has gone up £30, so like now the 16gb 3GS costs £190 on £35 per month so now it will cost £220 for the iphone 4

Lol as in the prices of the phones have gone up by £30 from the 3gs.. on contract..

Oh I know, they do seem realistic. Doesn't stop it being serious money for a phone. £600 can get a decent laptop nowadays..

It's serious money, but it's also quite a long way from what we used to think of as a phone... it's more a little computer that also has a phone in it. I'm sure many of us have paid much more for much less powerful computers before!

(That's how I'm looking at it, and it sort of helps...)

O2 pricing too much however you look at it!

Ok .. so are we forgetting that the new iPhone will not have the 12 months 'free' data/wi-fi bolt on (worth £120) .. so even if the prices 'look' more or less the same as for the 3GS they are at least £120 more .. grrr ..

I don't 'want' to stay with O2 but unless Orange do some kind of data 'add-on' I may have to!

And (last gripe) .. I want to see pricing!! now!!! grrrrrrrr!!

Exactly what 007dav91 said. PAYG prices will be £30 higher than the 3GS (so £479/£579 on O2 and £470/£570 on Orange), and Contract prices will just be £30 higher for the handset cost (for each given contract amount and length).
