The U.K. iPhone 4 Thread

There is probably no clear answer to this it will depend on what your O2 store is like. Although the website says you just need the pre-order email, the store may also want proof that you are an O2 customer or want to do the number transfer instore and not give you the sim otherwise.

We have already seen how inconstant the stores are with some giving them out already and others sticking to Monday or even later in the week.
 
Does anyone know if Orange are doing in-store pre-orders for June 24th for definate?

I've read posts from several users on this forum that they have a pre-order and others have been told 'no'. Is there no uniform response throughout the company or is it a store-by-store thing?

Also if I were to open an Orange contract does anyone know what documentation they require, such as a driving license?

what's this about iTunes and visual voicemail? all I had heard about three was that they were selling the iPhone 4, no details beyond that. please fill me in!

I would have thought it would be universal throughout UK branches. I'm sorry to add to the uncertainty but I was in the Orange Shop in Scotland today and the answer I received was YES. But you never know with these reps.
 
Both Orange stores where I live are taking preorders. One of them even let me sign the contract and do everything in advance, all I have to do is go in on the day and pay the handset cost. No waiting around to fill out contracts. :)

Edit: One of the guys I was speaking to did say that they were told not to, but they were doing preorders anyway.

I've been into my local Orange store a few times and I definitely have a tentative reservation for a possible pre-order. Does that clear it up? :)

Seriously though, what I was told is that they thought that official pre-orders were coming last week but they didn't happen and they may or may not be happening this week. My local shop is taking a list of names and phone numbers of interested people to call if/when official pre-orders are launched and this is the list that I am on. I wouldn't call that a pre-order, or even a proper reservation. To make matters more confusing the shop had been told earlier last week to process these "expressions of interest" through the till so the list they wrote my name on had a few till receipts stapled to it that related to the first few people that they had processed through the till (maybe they took a deposit, I'm not sure) but, apart from being closer to the head of the list, these people with till receipts were no different to the other people on the list. It's quite possible that the confusion is coming from some people getting on the "please call me" list via the till processing and thinking that they've somehow closed the deal.

Of course there could just be total anarchy and some shops might be processing pre-orders but all I can tell you is what I was told at my store. I plan to go in tomorrow to see if they have more news about proper official pre-orders.

ive had my 3g for over 18 months so i dont have any issues with buying out the rest of the contract etc.

Is that the full on contract cancellation?
Because I am staying with o2 (begrudgingly...) and paying the early upgrade offer (especially for the iPhone 4).. will that take a month because my mother is going to get me the new iPhone on Thursday for me, will she still be able to get it? The early upgrade thing I am on about is the one where you pay £20 per remaining months..

While I see your point, there are countless stores from all operators taking pre-orders named in this thread (Even 3, who havent even announced plans/prices yet), one of which is just two posts above mine. I think the cats out of the bag!

Nevertheless, have removed the mention.

I wasn't picking on you in particular......but I think you know that......your post was just the nearest one. I'd just hate to see people get unauthorised preorders cancelled because specific stores got a mention in here :)
 
Quick Question R.E SIM and Micro SIMs...I'm gonna go into the O2 shop tomorrow and ask for a Micro SIM, taking along my Reserved email. Can I then use the O2 'SIM Swap' website to swap my number etc onto the Micro SIM?

Or do I have to wait until I have the iPhone 4?

my mate has an O2 unlocked 3Gs with 3 sim in so I am only goin off what he's txt me but he's been sayin he got a official carrier file through iTunes yesterday (20/06/10) he has access to visual voicemail and was saying he noticed that tethering is using the same access point as data so three wouldn't know when you were tethering or not

i got the 3g when it first came out and had it on a an 18 month contract, so effectively it was up earlier this year but its just rolls on until i change it or cancel it.

nothing to do with the early upgrade fee etc

That sounds good!!

I'm torn between O2 and Orange I don't mind paying contract prices on either networks.

If Orange are more likely to offer me one on launch day then i'd go with them.
 
I Wish Apple Would Frickin Give Details About The White Iphone

Surely They Could Not Have Left It All This Time Then Not Sell It On Launch Day Allowing People To Build Up Hope, That Would Be Just Cruel And Damage Their Reputation

so, thinking the deal is closed, will people stop looking elsewhere for the phone and wait for the call? I hate these tactics.
 
First thing I do tomorrow is get myself a Micro-Sim from O2... seeing as I have the day off, perfect time me thinks to get one. Win-Win... ready for when my iPhone on hopefully Wednesday but most likely Thursday...

My guess is on the 22nd because I read ages ago a leak that VF will guarantee iPhone 4 on the 24th if pre ordered on the 22nd, then nothing have been confirmed and now again another leak with 22nd pre order. I will check tomorrow as well, who knows...
