Just had someone prank call me trying to interest me in buying the new iPhone 4. Thought it was rather hilarious so I'll share it with you seeing as it's an iPhone 4 related forum
I had someone call me this afternoon as well and now I'm worried it might be a scam. Only the person told me that he was calling concerning a recent failed online order which was true. I asked for proof that he was an O2 CS and he said he would send me two messages that should read 02-alert in the inbox and within seconds I got the messages, exactly as he said. Also in the background I could hear other voices of CS talking to people about various problems, I even heard the iphone 4 come up alot.
Was it a scam? I'm thinking I should get my credit card cancelled.
Could be a magnitude of reasons we are still waiting for ours to ship. I'm just a bit impatient at the moment.

Oh, no, it was definitely just a prank call against me. If you've had messages to prove their identity that say "O2 alert" then that's obviously from O2. Mine was definitely a hoax seeing as it's someone that sounds like he's from round here, calling up obviously NOT from a call centre, on a withheld number, AT 1AM(!!!), and then saying he'll prove he's from O2....by hanging up and calling back a few minutes later STILL WITHHELD and it's the same bloody guy. Don't worry mate, yours deffo is legit. I just thought I'd share mine cos it was funny.

Might have spoken too soon! The 'order shipped' email states: "We expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 24.06.2010."
Maybe at your doorstep tomorrow morning!

Mine finally went to Prepared for Shipment after midnight (on US site), but Not yet shipped on UK site. But the delivery date is strangely 25th June - 28th June. What's going on there!!!!! I pre-ordered 15th June at 11am!
