Still no prices out ?

you really would have thought they would have the prices up a few hours after the keynote speech instead of all this messing about.

Really? Just a quick check of ebay completed items and most seem to be 400-500

Not a big fan of Ebay for selling phones...What's the shipping cost to Nigeria these days :D

Might have to go down the Ebay route though

Last I heard from snippets elsewhere (people chatting to Apple reps/Twitter), was that prices would be announced on June 15th. Next Tuesday.

Ebay will get you a sale, I had over 6 different buyers e-mailing me to buy mine after only 10 minutes of it being listed.

From the email they sent out I get the impression that they are releasing something each day, as it says "16 Days to Go, Today’s update from O2 Guru James". So maybe tomorrow will be Contract Prices, Friday PAYG prices, skip the weekend and then a pre-order reminder (for Tuesday) on Monday.

Lets hope so because people will want to know the prices so they know ahead and can make plans for the expensive purchase, its like the networks think we all just have money to throw around.

Hi all.

Never posted here before, but just wanted to say a few things.

First of all thank you so much to the people posting snips of info. I'm checking this thread almost every hour just to make sure I haven't missed anything. I've gotten great advice on recycling my current iPhone and read some interesting insight into other users approaches to purchasing the new phone.

I must also say how horrified I am reading through some of these posts. No offense but some of you people sound completely up your own arse. We're here to help each other. Not gloat.

That is quite an old fashioned view of ebay may I say. I have sold phones on ebay regularly for the past 3-4 years and have yet to have a real problem.

The one kind of problem I had was where I sold an iPhone 3G last year, the buyer paid up, received the iphone as described, and then decided they did not like iPhones. Because I had stated I did not accept returns (which is the default understanding for private sellers), and that the item arrived to the buyer in an undamaged condition, I was always going to be on the right side of Paypal claims and the buyer could do nothing about it. That was not evil I don't think by me. The fact was that I was not in a position to take back the phone, the phone was not damaged in transit and I had already been charged for the transaction by ebay. The phone was 'as described' etc.

As long as you state in the listing you will only post to the UK, you wait until payment to post and you post with insurance - you should be fine.

P.S - just to reiterate an unrelated matter, the non-committal US iPhone 4 prices (equivalent to PAYG) are the same as the 3GS price structure, suggesting a strong likelihood the UK will follow suit - pending Apple not altering their current dollar/pound conversion, which seems unlikely IMO. iPhone 4 will almost certainly start from £440 PAYG over here.

I've sold everything and bought out my contract before the new iPhone was released...leaving me with around £100 in cash to go towards the iPhone 4 that I'll have to add to.

Plan of action: call O2 tomorrow, try to sign up for a simplicity £20 iPhone tariff on a micro sim and get my number ported over in time for the 24th when I hopefully receive my shiny new PAYG iPhone.

ditto

Personally I decided to:

- sell my current 3GS 32G on ebay
- buy an iphone4 32G on PAYG
- cut my current sim to make it micro sim (http://www.cutmysim.com/)
- wait until the end of my contract then switch to simplicity (http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/simplicity/iphone/1_month? or http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/simplicity/iphone/12_months?)

I did the same except i got a cashback deal as a new customer thru topcashback at the end of march, always a good deal on then. Got £200 plus the money for my 3GS which will cover the phone nicely

Hang on, so if I pay the £340 (17 months of £20) then I don't get the new handset for free? I don't mind being tied into the contract still (parents pay it, always had same price contract), but will I have to cough up another £90 pushing the upgrade price to £430?!?

You followed up your post above with something like "what the hell, this is a complete joke!"

Can I ask why you think so? You should, contractually, have, what, 17x£35 (£595) left of your contract, plus an inability to buy a subsidised IP4 even if you wanted to (unless you wanted to run two contracts simultaneously, which is unlikely). O2 are letting you buy yourself out of the contract for a discounted £340, and you were expecting to get the phone free also?

Oh, and you'll probably need to cough up around £170, rather than £90, realistically. For those who waited until the end of the contract, the upgrade price will be circa £170 for the 16gb, as opposed to £510+ for those just starting a 3GS contract.

Doing almost the same (and in a slightly different order):

- buy an iPhone 4 32G on PAYG
- get a micro-sim for my contract from O2
- give my current 3GS 32GB to my girlfriend
- sell her 3G 16GB to my brother (or failing that elsewhere)
- get O2 to unlock the iPhone 4
- wait until the end of my contract then switch to simplicity

Thanks everyone for all the great info here, been following this thread all week.

Dont think phonerecyclebank has been mentioned though, they still have a good price for the 16gb 3G. £204 and as far as i can tell they dont do that -5% thing that o2 do for cosmetic damages.

Cheers,

Nice, although they state 'case must not be badly damaged'... although I have a small crack by my dock connector. So I guess, once they receive it, they can update the price for any damage and reduce what they give you.

Just spoke to o2 today, the nice lady said there wasnt a pre-order & o2 has never done a pre-order for any iphone. Guess it'll be trying to get one on the day of release.. good luck
