Well it just goes to show how greedy UK networks are. I mean in Australia all 4 networks have the iPhone and so it is sold unlocked by the networks themselves. Only UK networks still try to hold onto consumers. Apple should just force UK networks to used unlocked ones too. If you could walk into any network shop and pick up an officially unlocked iPhone, then it wouldn't put so much of a strain on Apple stores. There are probably 1000's of network locked iPhone 4's sitting behind counters right now. We should adopt the Australian system.

Yes that was the same as mine, but got an email earlier saying it has been dispatched. Hopefully yours will too!

Hmm, still waiting for mine to ship. We ordered on the same day and mine is still showing the shipping date as August 2nd.

Is there a reservation list in the apple stores there in UK?

Or we have to call them everyday for stock updates?

As above: yep! I put my name down in the Newcastle Apple store on Friday. They do not do walk-ins and they would not give any indication as to how many people were left on the list.

There are loads of phones available if you want contract. My cousin walked into an Orange shop and picked up his 32GB one and signed a 2yr contract. Last week another cousin got his O2 one as well. Both had been informed that they had many more phones. Contracts ones don't seem to be in that much of a short supply, but i am sure in certain places and on certain networks - yeah, they are probably hard to come by.

Its the SIM unlocked ones sold by Apple directly that nobody can get a hold of.

Is that right? I've been faffing around since the announcement yesterday trying to decide whether to give in and go black and I didn't even bother going into the vodafone store today because I didn't think they'd have any. Wish I'd tried now.

Looks like I've gotta wait till the end of August. Rang Orange today and asked them if I could upgrade 1 month earlier than the 90 days, told me I had to pay off the whole 4 months if I wanted to for £100. Sucks! No iPhone for me for another 4-5 weeks.

I know my local carphone warehouse had a sign up saying theres stock of both!

Also when i was in o2 they had some in stock, unsure of sizes but saw them setting someone up with one.

I was also surprised at how many people were getting a 3GS, there were some in voda and about 3 in the o2 shop!!!!!

Surprising given that it's an old handset

Thanks to waiting for the White phone debacle to sort itself I have only just decided to get a black phone. I put my name on the Lakeside Apple list yesterday, they said they were expecting a big delivery at the end of next week ? I also ordered online as a fallback shipping date given as the 23rd August !

As an aside O2 said that they will only start selling the handsets only (with no contract) when they release pay as you go which will not happen for a while yet, which is a pain as they had plenty of 32GB stock in yesterday at Lakeside.

My wife and I both got an 8Gb model yesterday from Dunstable o2. Really impressed with the speed and design of them. Not quite so impressed with the signal dropout when holding them though. Four bars to no signal in seconds :(

Well, tried to ring Vodafone just now to see if there is stock in my local but it's like trying to nail jelly to a raindrop  They apparently don't have that information and couldn't see a way of speaking to the store directly.

So am about to try CPW. It was easier when I was waiting for the white!

Edit: Have just ordered online from CPW who say they have them in stock. We shall see...

If you got an 8GB model you have the 3GS not iPhone 4. The 3GS is not supposed to have the same death hold as the 4.

Were you on a list? I rang yesterday and they said they had none..
Did they offer to put you on the priority list? I'm already on it, but I'm wondering if (like in the US) they intend to start walk-ins any time soon.

Sorry if I've missed this somewhere but does anyone know if there is a web page showing the full range of free cases available from Apple.

I've just had the email from them telling me to download the App (which I have) but I don't want to go straight into it until I know the choices available. :)

They did but I said no thanks, I want one on the 12 month £20 tesco deal, I was only going to buy one from apple that day if they had any in just because I was bored.

The app will give you the choices available. You don't have to order there and then.

Ordered my phone (32gb) online from Vodafone last Sunday with no idea how long delivery would take, so was amazed when phone arrived on Tuesday morning! As stated in the thread it looks if you are happy to sign up to a contract, wait times are significantly shorter.
