Okay so I am posting this in the UK thread for 2 reasons -
1) I live in the Uk
2) This post may contain some criticism of the iPhone 4 so I want to avoid the automated "fanboi" response of "apple can do no wrong" which seems to be pretty standard on other threads.
Okay, so I got my iPhone 4 on contract to Orange with a Gear4 case which covers the antenna and I LOVE the phone. The problem is that whilst the case solves the issue with bridging the gap between the antennas, when I hold the phone I still lose signal with the case on. Obviously (as apple pointed out at press conference), all phones do this to a greater or lesser extent but the problem seems to be that Apple have the antenna all around the phone which makes this issue difficult to avoid (ie if the antenna was at the top of the phone, this would only really happen if you gripped the top of the phone)
This problem only really happens in low signal areas (my house being one!) but it means when I hold the phone (with the case) I lose signal unlike all the other phones I have owned, including a 3GS. Has anybody experienced these problems in the UK when they have been using a case?
Finally, can anybody tell me what the Orange policy of returning a phone which was bought through a retail shop? -
cheers
Tim
