Does anyone know if you can buy a phone from the Apple store in Regent Street with cash, or is it only credit/debit card? I know there isn't any stock, but when there is - would you be able to? Anybody got theirs with cash?

What about a gift voucher?

Picked up my iPhone 4 from Regent Street this morning. Paid cash. No problems. By the way, I was on the reservation list. I am not sure when they will be able to attend to walk-ins.

Got my free bumper yesterday, nice quick delivery. Don't like how tight the vibrate switch opening is though. But it is a nice case. Incidentally, I had a look at the T-Mobile plans and I'm glad I didn't wait, they look pretty rubbish.

When did you order your bumper? Just ordered mine today. The email Apple sent says to expect the bumper in Sept. Do you think it may come much earlier?

Ordered mine on the first day they were available, so the 23rd. Took a week to get here from date of order to delivery. Mine did orignally say delivery in september, so I'd say it's a dead cert it'll come earlier.

I bought my iPhone today in Eldon Square. I put the cash onto a gift card and used it right away for the phone. As far as I am aware, cash cannot be refused. I'm fine jumping through the gift card hoop if it means I can use cash. It is the first Apple product that I've had to go through this hoop for though.

Oh and I needed to show my photo ID. Don't know how people manage to pawn off reservations.

Cash as it is legal tender cannot be refused, though Scottish and Northern Irish notes can be as they are not legal tender.

Also it's nice to know that there is another Geordie, or atleast someone from the North East on here.

Isn't that only in the case of a debt?

Seeing as you don't owe Apple anything they don't have to accept cash... right?

Hi
I have the exspect flip case and have been very happy with it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Exspect-Lea...3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280506443&sr=1-3
just ordered one from noreve tho which I loved for my e-reader

Found this noreve one which is pretty nice to be honest. A bit on the pricey side though. Let me know what yours is like when it comes.

On the Exspect case, how do you find the holes for the camera and flash, because I know a few people have had trouble with it?

I am a geordie too, I have rang eldon square up a few times but kept getting told to go on a priority list which im not going to bother with... I have asked another person on here who said they got theres from eldon if they had to do this but they never replied...

could be old news but..

For anyone still waiting in northern Ireland, just spoke to a guy at the apple store who told me that the Waiting list for the iPhone 4 is no more, they're not taking any more names. From now on it's a case of taking your chances and walking in or calling the store in the morning.

when you buy the phone from an apple store do you leave with it sealed?

with my 3GS they had to set it up there and then but i dont fancy them opening my iPhone up and setting it up - i want to do it myself.

I'll be getting my from elsewhere, as it's a contract and there is phone shops closer to me so I don't have to go all the in to Toon.

No, it's for all item that are for sale, if they are priced and you offer them legal tender then they have to take it from you.

Yes you do! :) Picked up two SIM-free phones yesterday (different stores) and in both instances I left with the phones still sealed.

when i got my iPhone 4 on launch day, it was left sealed :D

all he did was, fill some details in, took payment and i left with an iphone 4 untouched :)

Not that it should make any difference, but this was at the Apple Southgate (Bath) store

Okay so I am posting this in the UK thread for 2 reasons -

1) I live in the Uk
2) This post may contain some criticism of the iPhone 4 so I want to avoid the automated "fanboi" response of "apple can do no wrong" which seems to be pretty standard on other threads.

Okay, so I got my iPhone 4 on contract to Orange with a Gear4 case which covers the antenna and I LOVE the phone. The problem is that whilst the case solves the issue with bridging the gap between the antennas, when I hold the phone I still lose signal with the case on. Obviously (as apple pointed out at press conference), all phones do this to a greater or lesser extent but the problem seems to be that Apple have the antenna all around the phone which makes this issue difficult to avoid (ie if the antenna was at the top of the phone, this would only really happen if you gripped the top of the phone)

This problem only really happens in low signal areas (my house being one!) but it means when I hold the phone (with the case) I lose signal unlike all the other phones I have owned, including a 3GS. Has anybody experienced these problems in the UK when they have been using a case?

Finally, can anybody tell me what the Orange policy of returning a phone which was bought through a retail shop? -

cheers

Tim

That's interesting/disturbing.

I have a gear4 case on my 3g (that's the one with the gear tread pattern right?)and really like it. Out of the IP4's I have played with in Apple/O2 shops I only see the signal drop when my finger bridges the seam gap thus bridging the two antenna.

But you seem to indicate the phone drops signal just when you pick it up with the rubber jacket on?

When I held a naked phone without bridging the gap nothing happened.

Have you thought about taking the phone back to the shop and demoing this?

Help me out here please guys.

I've pre-ordered a SIM-FREE iPhone 4 from the Apple Store.

I'm on an O2 Contract - How do I go about getting a microSIM to fit the iPhone?

Thanks.

How long to port from o2 to Vodafone?

Set up new contract Thursday morning, was told 48 hours to port number but Monday morning now and nothing. Please please don't make me ring customer services again!!!

Anyone else done this and how long did it take?

Porting can take up until the end of the day in question.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and was told September, it was delivered on Saturday morning.

So i would expect it to get to you a bit earlier.
