Waiting lists are getting rattled through (about a week of waiting time), but I've not heard of walk-ins anywhere in the UK yet.

Waiting lists are getting rattled through (about a week of waiting time), but I've not heard of walk-ins anywhere in the UK yet.
Apple will be opening a new store in Covent Garden soon, might be lucky there. I'm not sure when its opening though. Failing that you could phone up the regent street store now and make a reservation, it may be ready for when your in London next week.
If not I'm also selling a 16GB if your interested.

Does any one know what is the situation in the Bham store?, I am currently in Germany but I am going back to Bham in about a month to finish off some apartment stuff, but I am only staying for 3 days. It would be great if I could get an iPhone 4 and bring it back with me to Germany. Is apple store the only way to get an unlocked phone? or the pay as you go on other companies also unlocked?. Is there any way to reserve an iPhone 1 month in advanced at the store? Thanks.

I have another question if I were to order the iPhone tomorrow, do you guys think it would arrive before 1 month?, on the apple store says 3 weeks shipping but I don't know how accurate that is. So technically if I ordered the iPhone, say, tomorrow, it would arrive before I even go to Bham, and can just go pick it up after a few days when I get there. Do you guys think this would be safe? Because if it arrives after 1 month then I would no longer live at that address (I'm breaking my apartment lease), that would be a huge problem. Any idea on shipping times?

I ordered my 32GB iPhone 4 on July 13th, and it shipped on August 2nd, when it was due to ship on August 3rd. So 20 days... pretty much 3 weeks exactly. I live in the Isle of Man so it will take a day longer to get here, but if I lived in the UK I'd imagine I would have received it by tomorrow. Hope this helps
I understood Tesco wouldn't be taking orders over the phone due to low stock levels. Been on the phone to all my 'local' phone shops today trying to find some stock - no luck at all.

Thats the number to call, keep ringing every morning at around 9am thats what I did, they sell out fast though so you have to be quick.
This morning i was on hold for 45mins until i finally gave up.... I rang eldon square apple store... they had some in stock then i thought... il give tesco one more chance... rang them up again... 5 mins on hold a great women picked up and done the deal, should be arriving in the morning
(i previously rang tesco a week or so ago but lloyds blocked my fecking transaction and apparantly its been happening a boat load.. the women mentioned)

Tried calling Tesco twice this morning, first at 8am (held for 30-40mins but had to leave for work). Then again at 9am, didn't get through - same story.
Just finally got through to be told they had them in stock this morning but they are now sold out

By that time you should be able to just walk into an Apple store and pick one up. The Apple store is the only place to get the phone SIM unlocked. If you buy the phone in shop for a particular network, eg Orange, O2, Vodafone etc they will be locked to that network. You could buy a PAYG model from one of the networks and then jailbreak it and unlock it if you have to leave and you still couldn't get one through the Apple store.
