What's strange is that buying the same 18 month £30/month contract with Carphone Warehouse the phone is inline with the old O2 handset pricing of £209

Carphone Warehouse price

What's even stranger is that on Phones4U the same contract again, the handset price is only £119!

Phones4U price

I'm unsure of what to do here. I would much rather go direct with O2 than through CPW or Phones4U.

Why don't you ask O2 if they'll do a price match to an identical tarriff through Phones4U? If they don't then go through Phones4U if it works out nigh on £100 cheaper.

unhappy O2 Customer

Have O2 increased the handset price on all their Pay Monthly tariffs recently?

I'm sure they used to be about £15- £20 cheaper.

e.g. 18 month £30 contract, handset used to be £209, now it is £229??
Or am I missing something?!

Edit - discrepancy between here and the actual online shop prices. I wonder why they increased the price. http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/tariffs.html
They have indeed increased their prices, disgrace i think! First they charge more for tariffs than last year, now this. It changed from 1st September, i emailed them with my disapproval, and this is the response:

Hello Michael

Thanks for getting in touch about upgrading to an iPhone 4.

I'd like to inform you that since 01 September 2010, we've increases the
prices of iPhone 4. This is because we constantly review handset prices
to ensure that we remain both competitive and profitable across our
ranges.

Just so you know there is an increase of between £10 and £30 in the
handset cost on some of our tariffs from 1 September 2010.

We always aim to provide our customers with a great service, we don't
guarantee to always be the cheapest but we will always be open with our
customers about our prices. Our iPhone 4 customers will continue to
benefit from the best overall iPhone experience, including expert Gurus
in store, UK-based telephone customer service and benefits like Priority
Ticketing and O2 Priority List.

I understand that when you've visited the O2 store you were informed
that it will take 5 days fro an iPhone 4 stock to be available. Just so
you know we've limited amount of Phone 4 stock available. This is why
its available first come first serve basis. I'd request you to before
you visit to any store to purchase an iPhone 4, I'd request you to visit
the link given below to check where the stock is available.

I realise this isn't the answer you were looking for. I hope I've been
able to help you Michael.

So much wrong with that! For starters the link they provided is now a "closed" page, and i will let you judge the rest.

I've had the pleasure of using both the original iphone and more recently the 3gs with my company phones sim thrown in (o2 ).
Now, i'd be really interested in getting an iphone 4. But, the new v4 uses a slim sim and my companies is the standard model and needs to stay that wy for b/berry use.
Does anyone know if it's possible to mirror / clone a standard sim to a slim model so i could divert phones as and when required?

Essentially i need to use the b/berry thorough the day for the boring stuff but would love to be able to use the iphone4 in evenings and weekends for all the fun stuff whilst my company still pays for data use and phone calls.

Thanks for any response.

Simple - cut the SIM, then use a MicroSIM adapter (which most phoneshops will give free) when using the blackberry. I know the whole "cutting up SIM" thing brings some worries - but its not a big issue. Lots of YouTube videos showing how plus guides on both Engagdet and Gizmodo. Once you cut it up however, you'll be able to use any phone either way.

Ordered on the 19th. Was scheduled to be shipped 9th Sept and delivered by the 13th so i reckon it'll be here next Tues/Weds which is about 5 days earlier than it says so not too bad! :)

My other half's iPhone 4 arrived yesterday, after originally being slated for a 7th September delivery - so 4 days early. Ran into the snag of Orange not giving out microSIMs in store, so she's stuck without one until it comes in the post.

Did you manage to get one for free or did you have to pay the extra £10 a month on top of the contract for the MicroSIM? Or is it PAYG?

I've tried to get one off them but they insist on charging me an extra £10 per month to go on an iPhone tarriff even though i've been on an iPhone for 14 months! Robbing gits.

She's currently on an existing iPhone contract, but we had an insurance claim on the 3GS which eventually turned into an iPhone 4 replacement. As such, Orange are treating it as a replacement SIM, and not charging.

I guess Apple is getting stocks arriving earlier to UK. Does it depend on locations as well? Mine is to Slough, Berkshire.

I'm waiting for a refund as well, I made a mistake on my billing address on the first order, so canceled it and made an order again. I used a debit card, so no news of a refund yet.

Ahh i see nice! Glad you managed to avoid the charge. It's silly as i already hard 500MB of data per month and never touch the sides of it the reasoning they give is you get unlimited data (750MB) with the plan! Strange though O2 offer a free sim replacement but Orange won't. Seems like i'll be chopping my SIM down to size :(

Just cut it down. Its easy, and you don't have to try to understand someone who can't speak proper english on the phone.

I cut mine down a couple of weeks ago when I got my iPhone. Did a practice on an old o2 sim I have, then did my Orange sim card first time with no problems at all :).

Very true! :) Yep think i will i was planning to but am a little hesitant in cocking it up and being left high and dry without a sim card for a while. I'll buy a PAYG Orange SIM to practise on first though i think then go at the real deal once i know it's ok.

Oh boy, you're damn lucky. I've the same shipping date, no updates yet :( What could be the reason guys? When did you order buddy ?

I got my order confirmation on the 2nd and was fully expecting it to not get here for 3 weeks so its awesome its gonna be here in a few days! So random cause thats a lot less than 3 weeks! Estimated delivery on the 7th!

Ordered 32gb handset on 30/08/10 with expected Delivery 22/08/10.

Received email today stating it was shipped on 04/09/10 and expected delivery 07/09/10.

Much quicker than anticipated. Only thing is I ordered my SGP screen protector/shield from eBay (US) today and don't want to use the phone until the glass is covered.

On a side note, anyone know how long unitedsgpcorp (eBay) take to deliver to the UK?
