walk in to your networks mobile shop and say 'hey can you transfer my account from my sim to to microsim' they punch at the keyboard, ask you a couple of questions, like name address, stuff to make sure it's you, they scan a new sim card and hand it to you, it will work exactly the same as if you went in and you had lost your sim, in the process your old sim card will be canceled

Could always just cut it yourself.

O2 are giving away the Sim Adaptors as well, so you can turn your micro sim back into a mini sim.

Ive cut my Giffgaff sim card and it works perfectly in the adaptor. :)

Will this work if the current contract sim is non-iPhone? I would rather have a 'proper' micro SIM, rather than butcher a mini SIM

yes, we're not in america where they have to have an iphone tariff or be forced to have one, we have the choice to use whichever contract tariff we want whatever PAYG tariff you want

Orange v O2 signal

In realation to this topic I've been an Orange customer since '99 and have had excellent coverage in my area (North Wales), full bars in the house too. Now, when the 3Gs released I swapped over to O2, but signal strength was awful - hardly a bar of GPRS in the house, and when i went outdoors it couldn't pick up ANY signal. So it seems that the debate of which carrier is better is extremely subjective to locale!

I just noticed on the new tarrifs o2 set out, on the 18 month £65 per month, the minutes are down as " unlimited" is that accurate? i cant recall ever seeing an o2 tarrif with unlimited minutes before?

Anyone know if this is an O2 only thing? Maybe a little difficult to say at the moment as Orange and Vodafone havent released their pricing etc yet.

Popped into my local O2 to see whether they might do pre-orders...on a whim I guess and I got "If you register your details on the website we will let you know".

I got mildly annoyed at that point and told them that I've already done that and would just like to know whether I could get some additional info on my local store, not O2 as a whole and I got the same answer! My town is quite small so I wanted to also know how many people they get turn up early for the new iPhone but pretty much got shunned out of the door.

O2 are very close to losing my business. All the other networks (except T-Mobile) are open for me as they all have good coverage in my area.

O2 are seriously disappointing me. I just want the flipping handset prices now. If the £600+ estimate (mine) is accurate, part of me has been flattened by a roller.

if you go to this thread, https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/934746/, the guy says that because his AT&T contract isn't up for renewal any time soon to get iPhone 4 he has to pay $599. Thats around £420 so i guess thats the price for the 16gb but even if they decide to up it a bit i think that £600 can't be justified, not even for the 32gb version. Obviously he could be misinformed or VAT could screw us. I think that the prices will be similar to what they are now, for the 3Gs in the Apple Store, £449 and £499. Or what they were at launch, supposedly £449 and £549.

Edit: http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare-iphones/ in the bottom small print it talks about gifting the iPhone, 16gb $599, 32gb $699. So expect similar prices here (hopefully) :)

Oh dear. $599 for the 16GB? That's £411. Add VAT and you get £482. Then there always seems to be a £20 or £30 uplift.

So based on $599, expect the 16GB iPhone to be around £499.

What about American Sales Tax? If Apple factor that into their US costs the pre-tax handset cost could be cheaper which means the cost here could be lower too when VAT is added :D I have no idea how tax in America works so this could be wishful thinking but a guy can dream right?!?

American prices do not take into account state taxes which are added on top of that price at point of sale, sorry to disappoint you....

Judging by the conversion rates I expect like others here the 16gb will be £499 and the 32gb will be £599

I paid £630 ish for a factory unlocked 32gb 3GS from Italy a while ago so £599 aint a bad price but I would hate to think what a factory unlocked one will cost.
