Why is the i5/i7 so much faster than the C2D line?

More efficient, and faster.

I've seen reports of up to 20% quicker, while leaving the same battery footprint as a C2D. Win win, right?

I'm waiting til this Tuesday then I'm pulling the trigger on the best 13" that's available, arrandale or not. I need the machine now and the c2d will suffice for my needs. Even if it only last til next years model that'll be fine with me, I'll just give it to my kid. Frankly, I may go with the c2d 2.53 no matter the case as they can be had for around 1300 these days.
