Earlier this week, we noted that an image had been posted to our forums purportedly showing Best Buy's internal inventory system listing three unknown Apple products described only as "Dummy SKUs" and serving as placeholders for expected future products. While screenshots from Best Buy's systems have generally been unreliable, one such posting last year did turn out to presage the release of an updated MacBook, so we do tend to make note of these occurrences.

AppleInsider today publishes a detail picture for one of the entries shown in our previously-published screenshot, showing an "In Stock Date" of March 14th for the unknown product. No other significant information beyond that already visible in the earlier screenshot can be seen on the new image.

For comparison purposes, last year's screenshot showed a valid UPC code and model number for the unreleased MacBook, data not included on the new screenshot and therefore resulting in significantly less confidence that Best Buy possess specific knowledge of a new Apple release. Also notable is that last year's screenshot listed an "In Stock Date" of May 31st, 2009 when the update was actually released on May 27th. Whether Best Buy had simply been guessing at a release date or if it was simply scheduled to receive its first shipments a few days after Apple's release is unknown.

Gizmodo today also publishes a screenshot from the inventory system at a Canadian Best Buy showing a slew of dummy SKUs for unidentified Apple products. The source also notes that he saw "fully-speced high end iMacs in inventory that were not in stores yet," but it is unclear exactly what the source might be referring to.

Regardless of whether the screenshots reflect actual knowledge on the part of Best Buy of Apple's product release plans, an update to Apple's MacBook Pro line is widely expected in the near future. Apple is expected to adopt Intel's new mobile processors for its next refresh, and apparent benchmarking data for one such model appeared online in recent weeks, further stoking anticipation of a revision.

It would be nice if they ditched the low end core 2 duo processor and low end graphics chip, and essentially moved the current middle iMac down to the 1599 price slot from 1899 ( student pricing)

The new MBP line will be here when they get here. These waiting threads are nothing but a bunch of people blowing smoke and threatening to go back to a PC which is s threat they will never carry out. They act like they've invested in absolutely no Mac software and they couldn't care one way or the other if they use OS X or Windows. I call BS on this one. If you are true Mac user you will have Mac software that invested in and some that's not on Windows. So to all the people who are dropping these idol threats about getting pissed waiting for Apple and threatening to move on to PC, I say, do it now, why wait? There are a few Core i models right now on the market. 😛

Why can't a rep from Apple come on here and give us some good "UPDATED" news! All this speculation is getting overwhelming!
Getting excited, then I'm not...Getting excited, then I'm not....

When will it all end?....haha

Apple doesn't comment on release dates for unannounced products. Simple as that. Especially on rumor sites.

I'm not sure why we're even discussing 'rumors' based on "Bad Buys" I mean Best Buys, stock system..

Now if you tell me Apple's site says "delayed" or
"out of stock" fine.. but I'm not basing anything off of Best Buy..

Seriously, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to read these threads.

And this thread isn't this. This is a speculation about new SKUs at BB. So you're actually the one blowing smoke about switching to PCs here.

The rest of us are interested for signs of the refresh and want to read these threads.

Welcome to MacRumors. Pace yourself.

March 14th? Uggh were ready for a refresh but it has to be delivered prior to new fiscal due to budgets 🙁
Oh well, I guess I can spend it on more RAID space 😛

Well I got desperate and have resorted to getting psychic readings and numerology to find out the date. So far all I got was a bunch of crap 😡

You entered: macbook pro two thousand ten release date
There are 35 letters in your name.
Those 35 letters total to 142
There are 15 vowels and 20 consonants in your name.

Your number is: 7

The characteristics of #7 are: Analysis, understanding, knowledge, awareness, studious, meditating.

The expression or destiny for #7:
Thought, analysis, introspection, and seclusiveness are all characteristics of the expression number 7. The hallmark of the number 7 is a good mind, and especially good at searching out and finding the truth. You are so very capable of analyzing, judging and discriminating, that very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding. You are the type of person that can really get involved in a search for wisdom or hidden truths, often becoming an authority on whatever it is your are focusing on. This can easily be of a technical or scientific nature, or it may be religious or occult, it matters very little, you pursue knowledge with the same sort of vigor. You can make a very fine teacher, or because of a natural inclination toward the spiritual, you may become deeply emerged in religious affairs or even psychic explorations. You tend to operate on a rather different wavelength, and many of your friends may not really know you very well. The positive aspects of the 7 expression are that you can be a true perfectionist in a very positive sense of the word. You are very logical, and usually employ a quite rational approach to most things you do. You can be so rational at times that you almost seem to lack emotion, and when you are faced with an emotional situation, you may have a bit of a problem coping with it. You have excellent capabilities to study and learn really deep and difficult subjects, and to search for hidden fundamentals. At full maturity you are likely to be a very peaceful and poised individual.

If there is an over supply of the number 7 in your makeup, the negative aspects of the number may be apparent. The chief negative of 7 relates to the limited degree of trust that you may have in people. A tendency to be highly introverted can make you a bit on the self-centered side, certainly very much self-contained . Because of this, you are not very adaptable, and you may tend to be overly critical and intolerant. You really like to work alone, at your own pace and in your own way. You neither show or understand emotions very well.

Your Soul Urge number is: 8

A Soul Urge number of 8 means:
With an 8 soul urge, you have a natural flair for big business and the challenges imposed by the commercial world. Power, status and success are very important to you. You have strong urges to supervise, organize and lead. Material desires are also very pronounced. You have good executive abilities, and with these, confidence, energy and ambition.

Your mind is analytical and judgment sound; you're a good judge of material values and also human character. Self-controlled, you rarely let emotions cloud judgment. You are somewhat of an organizer at heart, and you like to keep those beneath you organized and on a proper track. This is a personality that wants to lead, not follow. You want to be known for your planning ability and solid judgment.

The negative aspects of the 8 soul urge are the often dominating and exacting attitude. You may have a tendency to be very rigid, sometimes stubborn.

Your Inner Dream number is: 8

An Inner Dream number of 8 means:
You dream of success in the business or political world, of power and control of large material endeavors. You crave authority and recognition of executive skills. Your secret self may have very strong desire to become an entrepreneur.

My company purchased a few new i7 PC notebooks last week, as the waiting game is getting ridiculous. I'm sure they'll purchase some of these new MBPs once they're here as well, mainly because 75% of our computers are macs. Not sure if i would count these as "lost sales," but some users are having to look elsewhere. OSX isn't everything to everyone - and while legality might be an issue for some, hackintosh is a perfectly viable option.

Why oh Why did they post this NOW???
I was about to give up, and hit the apple store on my lunch break.
Now I will be waiting.. Again..

Isn't this a fun game?
