Not complaining, but I don't understand the people that are basing their estimations for a MBP refresh on the iPad... Seems to me like a completely different market.

"Guys, guys!! SHH... we can't release the new steaks until everyones calms down about the bananas!"

I wouldn't buy an iPad even if one was offered to me for production cost... seems like most people are interested in one or the other and anyone that wants both would eventually get both anyways. *confused* Set me straight, please.

Argh more Mac rumors, I can't take it anymore!
Oh wait, its the name of this website.

Yes, I find it quite hilarious that some get upset with others posting rumors about Macs on Macrumors.com. Maybe they should start a Macfacts.com website? That way their precious time is not wasted. No need to thank me, I'm just here to help folks.

Apple I would think has to know that if they wait till June to release the MBP's, they are literally going to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars.

People are going to go PC that can't decide just on performance and price.

They have already lost money for sure.
Every day there isn't a refresh is another day of lost sales.

I hope this is true but I can't decide... I suppose thats true in industry, but as far as personal use goes.. most of the mac users that I know are just like me... and I'd rather wait another year for the update to come than buy a PC.

Dear Apple,

The MBP refresh wait has gone from annoying to absurd to downright embarrassing. Being last to market with something as no-brainer as processor updates does you no favors as a premium computer brand. Shouldn't premium products lead the way? Remember the days when you were the first ones on the market to feature a new cutting-edge processor? We do.

Please bring those days back.

Love,

Us

P.S. Oh, and while most of us will gladly pay a premium for beautifully-built-and-designed hardware (and integrated software), the least you can do is slip in the same size hard drives and RAM as your crummy, cheapo competitors that sell for half the price.

True there are the die hards, but I have used windows 7, and it is a great OS no question.

Its easy to use, pretty, and quick.

And when Molly Sue goes to Best Buy and goes oh i really want a mac, but its so expensive and this PC has an i5 thingy, well there you go.

For all those that are on the fence about mac PC, this isn't helping Apple one bit. (Im one of those on the fence guys as well.) \\ ordered my HP Envy 15 and cancelled the order, thinking of reordering it at this point.

Note, Apple seems to be doing fine without your insight into the "right" timing to release its products.

Also "hundreds of thousands of dollars" represents almost nothing to Apple. If you make $6000/month, that would be like you losing between 0.12 and 1.20 dollars.

Okay, now you have convinced me!:D

I fall under the category of "mac addict" so it's easy for me to forget that there are lots of comsumers out there that are more rational in their purchases than "OOO it's shiney with a lil' apple on it!!" I suspect Apple feeds off people like me that will buy whatever they're offering just because it's Apple. Yeah, that's probably new news to absolutely no one here.

Sucks big time for me...I have an ADC asset with 40% discount on a high end MacBook Pro and it expires 02/23/2010. Which means that I need to purchase a MacBook Pro by next tuesday. The worst part of all is that if I purchase it next tuesday or now and nothing is released, I can't return it because its automatically considered a CTO. I don't know whether to say I am disappointed or not but it truly sucks. I have a feeling Apple doesn't even have new MacBook Pros ready, the rumors are so vague and no images nor actual references to the actual improvements have been posted. I have a feeling implementing Arrandale and other features are affecting the functionality; either battery, heat, who knows? i just hope Apple doesn't abandon their professional market, which kind of defines who they are to satisfy mainstream buyers of silly trendy products like the iPad.

Yeah, they're doomed. The leaders in tech innovation and Mac sales records in a recession have no idea what they're doing.

The average user isn't looking for a refresh. They're looking for the Apple Experience they'll get with a Mac. The refresh will come, but not because geeks on Mac forums are pontificating about things they know nothing about (i.e., Apple's market.)

Either be patient and wait it out or just get a PC and deal with buyer's remorse in due course.

somebody needs to send mr. jobs an email and ask him what's taking so long. :D

Ehhh... I respectfully disagree! I think the average person that wants a Macbook is going to buy it when they want it! I don't think they're checking the buyers guide on MacRumors :p

Sure they're losing some sells from people like us. But they'll get by without our money for a few months. Also I don't understand why someone would buy a PC just because they were tired of waiting for a refresh. If you want a MBP buy the current one or wait awhile...

idk...that's just my 2 cents! :D

wise words, my friend.

Haha I typed my reply before I saw this! I agree!! ;)

How about Mac Pro refresh in at least a few months? That is even longer overdue.

The new MBP line will be here when they get here. These waiting threads are nothing but a bunch of people blowing smoke and threatening to go back to a PC which is s threat they will never carry out. They act like they've invested in absolutely no Mac software and they couldn't care one way or the other if they use OS X or Windows. I call BS on this one. If you are true Mac user you will have Mac software that invested in and some that's not on Windows. So to all the people who are dropping these idol threats about getting pissed waiting for Apple and threatening to move on to PC, I say, do it now, why wait? There are a few Core i models right now on the market. :p

not strictly true. as a new switcher to a mac, I found that the mac has 90% of the software i will ever need right out of the box...and as for additional software, all i did was transfer my adobe light room and PS4 licenses across from my windows pc to my mac.

I have a mac and consider myself a true mac user. are you saying that because i refuse to buy rubbish like aperture ( compared to lightroom) that i am not a true mac user?

or should I get an apple tattoo on my forehead to prove my brand loyalty?

this sort of fan boyism is the only 'bump' i have encountered in switching from a pc to a mac and it is amusing at first, but then you realise these people are actually serious!!

I , along side most sensible people buy whichever computer does the tasks we need it to do in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

There's a credit card in my wallet approaching core meltdown waiting for MacBook refreshes. I will buy instantly when they available.

Why oh Why did they post this NOW???
I was about to give up, and hit the apple store on my lunch break.
Now I will be waiting.. Again..

Isn't this a fun game?

I’m in exactly the same spot. It’s miserable! You don’t want to spend your hard earned money on a product that will likely be updated within weeks (days?). If it makes you feel any better though I’ve probably got you beat on the stress level of everything—I need to purchase a laptop so I can still get work done while my wife and I will be in the hospital overseeing the recovery of our soon-to-be firstborn baby girl. We just learned she is going to need surgery directly after her birth and at least 2 weeks of recovery in the icu afterward. :(

You know it’s bad when I’ve started praying for Apple to release these because it’s one less thing I have to be worried about! :)

Not saying their doomed, I'm stating two facts,
1. They look like fools for the hardware that they offer right now, especially at the price. That and the fact they are last in the market to get to i5, i7 CPU's.

2. They are losing money from this delay no question. Not all Mac users are die hards, many are on the fence, and this is pushing them onto the PC lawn. Microsoft made the biggest blunder they could with Vista, and now that they are past that, they are raging back with 7. Best sales out of the gate of any operating system ever. Major consensus is that it's great. People are getting happy with Microsoft again. Vista was the biggest blessing Apple had in the last 5 years. And they used it well, but now 7 is here, and people like it. = Problems for Apple.

You dont need an economics degree to figure that out.

Apple's current product line is selling quite well.

https://www.macrumors.com/2010/02/16/npd-strong-mac-and-ipod-sales-in-march-quarter-so-far/

As an AAPL stockholder, I am satisfied with the way Apple is releasing its new products and pleased by the increase in shareholder value.

You don't need an economics degree to figure that out. :D
