Tonight?

Tonight's the night. And it's going to happen. Again and again. It has to happen. Nice night. Macrumors is a great site. I love the forum posts. Bestbuy skus are my favorite. But I'm hungry for something different now.

Bah. I really expected them to come out today - unlike last week where it was mostly hope. Gutted.

Ben nu een week in duitsland geweest, dus even niks gevolgd,

Kan iemand mij vertellen of er nog iets interessants is gebeurt mbt de mbp update.

VXL.

The rumors and wait have frozen??
Does this indicate there will be NO MBP till the iPad has been launched and selling??!!

Tomorrow is a Tuesday, BUT, the rumors have died, so there is no hope for a 2 March 2010 release of NEw MBP (13";)????????:apple: PLEASE.......... its about time.

So it's March the 7th

Yup, still nothing :(, I'm betting we'll be waiting a good while

Do people really replace their computers every 3/4 years? I mean... mine is a late 2008 model and its plenty fast. I'm just trying to understand why people are in such a hurry for updates? Is it because they are buying their first one and they don't want to pay new price for 2 year old hardware? That I can understand. Like, I don't know why Apple doesn't lower prices as hardware gets older and then bring them up when the old hardware gets replaced with new but it is interesting to go back to the Apple site a year later and see a MBP the same price as yours with better stuff. Then your like.. wait it never dropped.

But seriously. 5/6 years from now when I replace mine it will be due. But 3 maybe 4 years? Isn't that kind of soon or do people really replace their computers that soon? I'm not trying to start a fight... its like a honest question. My friends mom still uses a iMac G5 because it hasn't gotten any slower over the years. Though I guess if she tried a new one she would get spoiled and want to replace it. =/

Mines a September 2007 MacBook Pro, and its starting to show its age.

Not always about performance, battery life, screen, warranty running out, spare cash or what not...

Fair enough =D

My computer turned a year old last month and the battery is aging. 190 cycles. 87% health. I do need to cycle it though.

I need to swap from Windows to OSX. Not a fan of Hackintosh.

I think GEO877 has the better of the argument: If there's no MBP refresh by March 9, we won't see any new developments until well into April or early May.

Apple has enough challenges on its hands launching the iPad. They won't muddy up the marketplace waters by adding new MBP hardware into the mix ... especially when they don't have to do so.

There's no upside for Apple to release new hardware in advance of the iPad launch, and the downside is that the iPad marketing effort could be diluted if new hardware appears and significant problems emerge ... which could well be the case with quad-core chips.

The new MBP line will be here when they get here. These waiting threads are nothing but a bunch of people blowing smoke and threatening to go back to a PC which is s threat they will never carry out. They act like they've invested in absolutely no Mac software and they couldn't care one way or the other if they use OS X or Windows. I call BS on this one. If you are true Mac user you will have Mac software that invested in and some that's not on Windows. So to all the people who are dropping these idol threats about getting pissed waiting for Apple and threatening to move on to PC, I say, do it now, why wait? There are a few Core i models right now on the market. :p

At times I've not cared for Apple, but I do see their POV at times, and my only valid gripe is lack of updated video card for the Mac Pro. I have NO plans to go back to Winbloat. And the more I use Windows 7, the more bugs or "What were they smoking when this new problem jumped out?!" that appear are real turnoffs, especially when Microsoft makes certain claims. MS is a complete joke.

At least Apple calls out contracted manufacturers that use immoral tactics like child labor. MS would likely condone it. (they already condone piracy despite claiming to be against it.)

Well it took so long for Apple to announce a date for Ipads, I hope theirs not that delay in the new macbook pros. I mean these Intel's are FOUR YEARS OLD... you would think they'd make a big deal about it..

The iPad is tempting, but I wouldn't want to do real work on it.

And while Flash (the app-creating developing product) is indeed buggy, when the net product produced works, the Flash Player is great and is irrelevant to Apple's claim as to why they don't put Flash on the iPhone or iPad.

Still, Adobe CS5 puts in a nice answer for porting Flash to Apple and that I will make use of.

True, but many PC laptops still use the new technology, and the newest ones using i5s and i7s tend to overheat. (the HP Pavillion might be $1300, but if it dies in under 3 weeks like the dude on Best Buy reported (and assuming that negative review still exists, of course), then the HP laptop isn't with 1/1300th of a cent. And if i7 gets that hot, a 1/2" MBP won't cut it either.)

Yes.

I mean... mine is a late 2008 model and its plenty fast.

So it's a little over 1 year old, not 3 to 4. In another 2 to 3 years you might not think it's plenty fast.

I'm just trying to understand why people are in such a hurry for updates? Is it because they are buying their first one and they don't want to pay new price for 2 year old hardware? That I can understand.

Regardless of whether it's a first system or not, most people don't want to pay a new price for 2-year old technology.

Yes, people do replace systems that often. Heck, Apple would prefer if it were more often than that. When I get on my iBook G4, which was the last model made in 2005 @ 1.42GHz, it is painfully slow compared to my late 2008 MB. After using the MB, which came out 3.5 years later, there's no way I would go back full-time to the iBook.
