I'm really drawn into the Whisperer War, now that we're half way through it with #159. I can't wait for the price of the books to come down to see how it will all go down. Lots of questions remain about the Whisperers and Lydia, plus the relationship between the communities in the new order with Alexandria under attack and Negan out of his cell.

We also lost a major symbol in #159 mostly in time for the return of the TV show.

I began reading the comics over the Christmas holidays and have been able to binge read all the way up to the current issue over the past 6 weeks. I must say, the comics are totally addictive. It's going to be tough now that I have to wait for new issues to come out. I like both the show and the comics and I must say it is confusing to me why Kirkman decided to make some of the changes he made to the show.

Okay, so this is a question about the show, but it requires knowledge of the comic so I think this is the most appropriate place to post it.

What are you all's thoughts about where the show is headed at the end of the Negan arc? Obviously, from what we know in the comic, there is a pretty significant time jump after Negan and the Saviors are defeated, a couple of years from what I remember, and then we begin the Whisperer War. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like it would be difficult to make that transition in the television show. It would seem more likely to me that they would keep the timeline stable and not do a time jump, but I think the time jump is required for us to fully understand the relationship dynamic and the character changes that we are seeing with Negan.

Now that I have read the original source material I find it fascinating to ponder where they are going to take the show. Clearly, they have shown no allegiance to the source material based on some of the major changes they have made.

I think they've got a whole season ahead of them before they think of how they are going to approach the time jump. As you say though, they do not have to follow the exact same arc. They have introduced many unique story elements that could give them new stories to tell in the bridge between the fall of Negan and the Whisperer War.

Speaking of the Whisperer War, I love how they win it, but also at the same time lose both the Hilltop and Alexandria. Time to mix it up again.
