Today I’ve been testing the link to the phone.

I’ve turned off WiFi and Bluetooth on the watch and battery drain on my series 6 has gone from 10% an hour down to 1.4%.

Widgets are on. But not really updating without the link. I previously tried deleting them with no joy.

I suspected it was an over sync type thing as my phone is also running out by the end of the day.

Also, I work from home with my HomePods always playing music and the watch music app seems to always show the progress of the current song. Never really did that before.

My wife has poor battery life when working from home. But when in the office her battery is fine.

Those with issues. Do you play music on one of your other devices?

Could it be this?

Watch OS 10.1 beta has just been released and I’m installing it right now. let’s see and hope they’ve fixed the battery drain and weather app problems
So here we are a few hours later with watchOS 10.1 beta. And the battery drain is even worse now. Lost over 40% in 6.5 hours! Did nothing with the watch.

I’m so pissed right now. I did everything. Reset the iPhone, configured the watch as a new watch, tried several things with the weather app, used different watch faces…

I’ll throw this damn watch away.

I have the impression that the battery life on my Ultra 1 take a hit. It's diifficult to have two days of battery life now

This is the exact same for me, my phone is also suffering. For now I have just left my watch drain and I'm not charging it again until they fix it. Not only does it mess my phone battery but it can't be good for the watch's battery health getting drained so quickly over and over.

As long as you have made the decision not to use it until Apple gets their act together, you might want to consider charging it to 50% and turning it off. That way, the battery health won't suffer as much as letting it drain all the way and storing it.

new U2 currently at 53% after 36 hours.

Simple desk usage, various notifications on, normal power mode, sleep tracking on, AOD off

No recent workouts :shame: lol

WatchOS 10.0.1 and reading some other threads I hesitate to update to 0.2

Weather complication working smoothly.

Update:

”last charged to 100% on Mon 922pm”

Currently at 19% after 60 hours.

same usage pattern with another sleep cycle (two total).

(battery was showing 29% when I went to sleep around 1230am)

Add me to the list of people who have seen WatchOS 10 (and iOS 17) absolutely destroy the battery.

Barely used the watch today and 28% remaining. Always used to be way above that before.
And all of a sudden today battery life seems back to normal. Only 20% down by 4pm

Has anyone who has deleted widgets on their watch added them back and not had their battery life destroyed again?

My series 9 watch battery was terrible for days but it seems to be fine now. Been off charge since 7:15am and it’s currently 4:17pm and has 81% battery left. This time yesterday it was at about 48%

After about 1.5 weeks on OS10 I’ve settled in on having to charge every 1.5 days (vs 2.5 days on OS9). My watch setup and usage hasn’t changed and I’ve lost about a day.

OS10 sucks. I want 9 back!!!!

I deleted all and a few hours later (about 24 hours ago) added two back and things were fine. Today I'm down about 2% an hour since taking the watch off the charger, which is great.

I changed from the precipitation widget, to the conditions weather one. Maybe it was that.

I’m pretty sure there’s something to the theory that the watch is failing and retrying to get weather, and just looping and killing battery.

Series 7 here. Off the charger at 8am. It’s now 6.30pm and 68%. It’s better but not what I was used to.

My AW seems to be creeping back into draining super fast. It's already down to 92% since taking off the charger this morning 0640 PST. It's now almost 1000 pst

Totally normal after an update!

After a day of WiFi and Bluetooth off my battery performed better than os9 which is to be expected with no comms.

My phone battery is also behaving much like iOS 16.

It seems normal. This leads me to believe the drain is down to some over active syncing going on.

The most frustrating thing is Apple are never held accountable for this sort of issue. It happens so often with new OS releases that it almost feels like it's a deliberate ploy to make people who don't know any better upgrade to a new model.

So this is an odd coincidence. My iphone 15 PM IOS17.0.2 and AW Series 7 AWOS 10.0.2 seemed to be insync today with it's battery drain. Both are now at 79%. ANd they both seemed to be draining at the same rate.
