Watch 10.0.1 update now drains my full Ultra battery over night. Does anyone else have a battery drain problem with the latest update. 10.0 was fine then the update on 09/21 to 10.0.1. I have charged it twice today already.
My Series 7 has the exact same issue. 10.0.1 did not fix it. Wiped it and set up as new. Still a no go. It passed apple diagnostics so not a hardware issue. Battery lasting only a mere 8 hours. Support has not addressed this and my watch is now worthless to me.

Steve wasn’t alive for Watch OS 9, never mind 10. But yes, under Jobs there were products released with bugs including battery drain.

Mine's at 84% after coming off the charger at 7AM, it's 4:30 here now, 10.0.1. About the normal life I got under OS 9 too.

Would agree to consider some reboots first.

same complaints after every watchOS release, and as always, reboot watch and phone, that'll take care of it

he's dead for over 10 years, time to get on with life ... and yea, he was perfect - NOT

So yesterday I noticed when i plugged my watch in using the official cable and Anker multi-socket charger I got a pop up on the watch saying unknown accessory. I’ve always used this combo and never had this message before until watchOS 10.

This morning I noticed my watch had only charged to 96% overnight and after unplugging it the charge fell to 89% within the space of 10 minutes. This got me thinking that maybe they added something in the new update that wasn’t playing well with 3rd party chargers?

So I went through a few drawers and found an old Apple 1A plug charger and put the watch on charge and to my surprise it went all the way up to 100%.

I’m not sure if this has any meaning but I will leave it overnight and let you guys know if this has improved anything 👍

If you're using the official cable, I'm not sure what the problem is. Try plugging it in on something other than the Anker. The apple official cable isn't the problem, for sure.

I installed the watchOS 10 RC last week and apparently it's the same as the final version. I own an AppleWatch Series 5 and so far I was perfectly happy with it, after a full day at the office I easily had 25%ish left of battery life. I would say it lasted up to 16hrs.

But now, with watchOS 10 my battery life is down to less than 12hrs. What is your exeprience? I hoped that they would fix it with the final release, but they haven't.
I had launch day series 5… I updated to watchOS 10 on release day. Today, I took it off the charger at around 9:30am. I went for a walk for about 2 hours then did more walking in the course of the day. By the time I got my series 9, my battery was at 13%, easily the worst day I’ve had with the battery since I got the watch.

Series 9, 45mm- I turned the watch on and paired it etc. this was around 5:30pm. It started with 67%. It’s 9pm now and I’m at 64%.

That’s impressive right there. Always on display has been off for both models.

Series 5 had 79% battery health, even after the update. Truly impressed so far with series 9.

Updated my AWU to OS 10.0.1 Wore fully charged watch when I went to bed at 10 p.m. Woke up at 4:30 a.m and watch was at 75%. So as I slept *while wearing the watch* I get a 25% battery drain?!? I already had a noticeable drain on OS 10 during the day. I think 10.0.1 is even worse.

I have the same problem with my serie 6. 25% remaining after 8 hours without the use of always on.

I have some updates: I noticed that my AirPods and my Apple Watch showed some strange behavior in the Find my-App! The watch wasn’t even visible and the AirPods only showed limited functionality (no search options).

After this I wiped my iPhone, disconnected the AirPods and unpaired the watch. After restoring everything from backup the issue seems to be fixed now! The watch is back in „find my“, the AirPods work and battery consumption is down from about 6% per hour to 2% per hour!

EDIT: Without any change the battery draining suddenly started again… lost about 7% in 10 minutes. And for the first time I noticed some issues with the weather app. It is no longer syncing my locations with my iPhone and I can’t add other places. Maybe this whole battery ******** is in fact a problem with the weather app. Hmm.

This is my suspicion too as l said in a previous post it takes an age for weather complications to show on the watch face when I first take the watch off the charger. Yesterday it took an hour for them to show

This is surely something that will be fixed?

I appreciate that things get worse on older watches etc but this is happening on new watches too.

I have lost 22% in 2 hours thismorning and I’ve hardly used it.

I reported it in this thread and seems nobody noticed. After I started the weather app on my AW (which I very rarely do), battery drained significantly. After force quitting weather app, everything was back fine. Could be seen in the battery graph on the watch: from a sharp fall to a lot smoother curve.
Now migrated to an Ultra 2 and have absolutely no issue with battery drain, though restored from a backup of my old watch. Haven't started the weather app yet and have no weather complications.

When reading the watchOS 10 beta thread, there are numerous problems with the weather app. Maybe this app is buggy as hell and is reading data all the time or so.

My S7 after initially seeing no improvement on 10.0.1 appears to be settling down now: this afternoon I am back to 3-4% an hour. Hopefully it stays this way now!

Okay guys I charged my watch with an old Apple 1A usb plug last night, when I woke up it had charged to 100% (instead of showing as 96% when using an Anker plug) and I've had the watch on my wrist for an hour and have only lost 2%!

Now the only other thing I have done is reset my default city for weather by removing and re-adding it.

This could also be something Apple have fixed behind the scenes with the weather app/complications? Let me know how you guys are faring today!

EDIT: Okay so 2 hours off the charger and I'm still at 93% battery. dare I say the issue is... fixed??

Pretty bad experience so far. Watch died around 6pm. And I used to go to bed around 11pm and it was kicking and alive. I’m going to give it a couple more days to see if it was a wrinkle or something more.

One possible culprit: unlocking the Mac with your watch. Are you guys sitting long hours next to your Mac? Are you unlocking with watch. Unlock wasnt working for me after the watch update; had to disable/enable on Mac side.

Also noticed my Bluetooth mouse is more jittery/erratic. As if there’s a lot of Bluetooth transmission going around.

If watch dies early today too, I’ll disable the Mac unlock with watch feature tomorrow and see what happens.
Interesting thought. I have been letting my watch SE 1st get unlock my Mac, and I do sit next to it. I am struck by how much the watch vibrates when it unlocks the Mac, so its gotta be using some energy. Thought it was cool when I first discovered it, but maybe I will disable that. Im still on watchOS 9.6.2., so am not seeing the terrible drain people are reporting on watchOS 10.

BTW, for those who haven't upgraded to 10 yet and still have an iPhone without iOS 17, I read a post on Reddit this morning of a guy with an S4 series watch on 9.6.2. He was getting good battery life already but claims that updating it to 9.6.3 improved his battery life.
