my favorite was the time i was unpacking my new epson printer, i hooked it up, and i was about to print when my friend said, "wait, don't you have to download those thingies?"
Me: what thingies?
Friend: You know, the thingies that make it work.
Me: Oh. Drivers. No.

That was pretty funny.

I have a Windows user who always says "thingies", its infruiating:

"Alright mate, how do I do this then?"
"Well you know the, um, thingy? Put it on the left of the other thingy, near the thingy. Then get the thingy..."

He does it all with hand gestures and everything, like you're gonna understand!

I like it how you mention what you have after they mention what they got and because yours is better, they say you won't need half of what you have but on the flipside they probably won't need everything they have either...

Also this exchange was good:
"Yeah but you can't get Office for Mac"
"Yes you can, look it's right here I'll show you"
"But that's not the real Office is it"
"It's made by Microsoft and it's newer than the one on Windows"
"Yeah but its still not real"
(I walk off)

If THAT story doesn't illustrate the stubbornness and ignorance of PC users, NOTHING will. Especially the "but it's still not REAL" part is so illogical it's almost surreal.

Actually, I did get a present.

I did get a present from her for Christmas. It was a Walmart $20 Gift Card. I bought a Point of Grace CD, my favorite group.

Re: Re: I got this story too!

Yeah, I thought the whole exchange was really interesting and funny. By the way, these were Quotes and not actually computers we own. My aunt and uncle were wanting to upgrade and so was I. Yeah, my uncle is always that way. It is kinda funny if ya think about it. I did tell them after they told me they only use their computer for AOL, Word, and Quicken that they most certainly didn't need to buy the system they had looked at and got a quote for.

Exactly!

Yeah, I also heard that before. I had several customers tell me that Mac Office wasn't the real Office because it didn't run on Windows and didn't have Outlook, Access, and Publisher. I think it just proves how much Bill Gates and Microsoft have brainwashed the masses into thinking they must have everything all Microsoft. Maybe the psychologist or sociologist might want to do study on the effects of Bill Gates and Microsoft on people's brains.

It would be far better for them to go second hand if thats all they need to do.

i've brought mine to school just about every day for the last 6 months, buddy.

Slightly of topic, I know, but what do you use it for? I'm a university student in the UK and I have an iBook (yeh, I know that sounds like someone from Apples Anonymous...) but only for the portability so I can take it home easily...

Anyway, back to topic. Perhaps the worst thing is at stores here in the Uk. The biggest computer vendor, PC world, puts the Macs in a little corner out of the way and then tells me that "they don' have any Mac compatible hard drives or Zip drives." Even worse, in Dixons (a high street retailer), a guy comes in and says "I want a thin, light laptop." He is then shown the latest Dell or one of those other black bricks (not an IBM or Sony) which feels much heavier to use and is certaily much thicker than the 15" TiBook. Yep, you guessed it folks, they didn't even have the latest, greatest models.

I use it to make history notes in History (the woman turns the light off a lot to show slide presentations, plus i can't read my own shorthand very well.

i also use it in computer science. i write all my programs on my own computer. saves me the trouble of sending them to myself via email whenever i want to work at home (which i rarely do, but...).

and in calculus i put it out on the desk and put one bud in my ear and listen to tunes during the lectures, as he doesn't mind at all.

iTunes has without a doubt halved my work-rate.

I have a month of exams starting in two days time and all I do is listen/rip/organise/album art!

Just found this pagehere Really usefull for fending off questions:

Recent conversation with PC user friend
PC user: Why do you use Macs? They haven't got any games for them?
Me: They're more stable than PCs, and they've got games for them. Oh yeah, that reminds me - can I borrow Warcraft 3 of you? You can borrow Quake 3 of me.
PC user(clearly stunned by chain of events eg finding out that there are Mac games available and that they can be compatible with PCs and Macs at the same time): What? Um, ok. [hands me Warcraft 3]. What do you mean more stable? My computers only crashed four times this month.
Me: [smug grin] Exactly. Mine hasn't at all.:p

On the same lines, the computer I'm writing this on (an RM Innovator running Windows 2000 professional on a network) has already hung three times in an hour whilst using IE to surf the net:rolleyes:

ah, see, you misinterpreted me. boyfriends, you are with them on equal grounds. who wants a mate/significant other that is stupid? in my experience, only people who are too smart for their own good and slightly sadistic. no, i meant a PC user as like a personal slave/bitch. someone you could like cal into the room when you're bored and command to say something. most of the time, *it* would remain in your basement on a PC with 56K and an 8 year old hewlett packard printer with faulty XP drivers.

I found out two weeks ago that a friend of mine was rebooting his windows box every time he editted the hosts file. I said to him why was he doing that and his reply was "I thought that any network change under Windows required a reboot".
I'm laughing again thinking about what he said. :)
