I'd like the opposite... An iPad Air 3 with the thickness of the Air 1 but the battery life of the iPad 4.
Same. Given the power efficiencies, an iPad Air 3 as thick as the Air 1 will probably have better battery life than the 4. :p

I hope there will at least be one ipad with the iphone 6 style design. But perhaps that will be just for the ipad mini 4. But if they update the air 2. At least i hope for a new soc update allowing ps4/xbox one graphics capabilities.
That would be great , after that they should release the apple tv4 with the same soc.

But it is questionable.
I don' t see apple releasing an ipad pro with the same soc as the air 3.
So the ipad pro will be getting a A9x. What will the air 3 get? A regular A9? I don' t see the regular A9 beating the powerfull A8x in the air 2. Perhaps it will be more energy efficient with the same performance. But that' s it. Perhaps force touch will be the advantage of the air3?

I can. :apple: will probably aim to make the A9 a worthy successor to the A8X, so they can put it into the iPad. Here's what I think they will have this year:

A8X on the iPad Mini 4: 1.4GHz, onboard memory
A9 on the iPhone 6S: 1.4GHz, onboard memory
A9 on the iPad Air 3: 1.5GHz, external memory
A9X on the iPad Pro: 1.5GHz, improved GPU and maybe improved CPU, 4GB external memory

A7 is more powerful than A6X while being smaller and more power efficient. Why can't you see it? One year is a lifetime in terms of CPU chips.

There will eventually be an iPad Air 3 even if they choose not to update it this Oct. I believe they'd still be updating it this Oct though even when the Air 2 is plenty fast. Might just be a slight bump in speed and battery life and shift the focus this year to the iPad mini 4 + iPad Pro.

i dont think so - my only 6-7 hr if brightness 70% if brightness 100% with video watching and apps
not catching 10 hr like you said , that impossible

Since last full charge I have 19% battery life left.
11hr56min usage
9 days 17hours standby

2/3rds of the usage is Candy Crush :)

Really torn between ipad air3, Sony tablet z4 or new surface. I own everything apple, thus the ipad makes sense. However I do have a nexus 7 and with lollipop, finally got used to android. What i wish was for the ipad
to get a keyboard case like the surface or z4, tried a number of third party keyboard cases with the ipad air and was so not really impressed.
Decisions
Think I may wait till surface 4 and hopefully ipad air 3 drop this fall before I make my mind up

I do think there will be an iPad Air 3, it might be announced alongside the rumoured iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 in October, or if Apple need more time to talk about the Pro it could be announced in September (but i doubt it) OR maybe the iPad Pro isn't even real and has just been something that Apple has experimented with.

I have the iPad Air 2 and with IOS 9 it looks like all the features will be there, so if nothing different is done with the iPad Pro then i might just stick with the Air 2. The multitasking feature is what I'm more excited about at the moment.

ipad air 2 still weight lift - i m waiting for less than a lbs ipad ,

How are you NOT getting 10 hours? 100% brightness and watching non-native videos or gaming full time? 10 hours is my absolute minimum.

I think the best I ever had on two iPad Air 2's was 9.5 hours of usage. I'm currently at 42% with 5.5 hours of usage so it'll be close but I doubt I'll get to 10 hours. That is nearly 100% Safari usage (during this sessions since last charge) @ 40-45% brightness (based off looking at the slider).

I am thinking that this year will be a minor revision of the Air. They did a minor revision of the mini last year so it is due for a major revision in the Fall. What with introducing the iPad Pro also in the Fall it seems there is enough to make a good presentation.

Of course there will be an iPad Air 3. The lack of leaks means absolutely nothing. Especially when you consider that the leaks that have come out are for the Mini 4 which is said to take on the looks of the Air 2. The Mini 4 wouldn't be taking on the look of the Air 2 if the Air 3 was changing looks. So there's nothing to leak since the hardware shell isn't changing. The processor and memory configs most definitely will change though.

I feel there will be an Air 3 regardless of leaks or not. Probably just a minor spec bump in nothing else. Hardware sales is how Apple makes money so not updating it only hurts them.

if ipad air 3 weight same as ipad pro , i wont get a air , go streight for pro ...

Will there be an iPad Air 3? -- Yes.
Main selling point: Force touch.
Air 2 owners: this was such a major update (love mine!). No need to worry about an iPad "Air 3".
Wait for a similarly big jump (maybe in 2016).

I'd like them to take care of the screen vibration problems caused by the overly thin chassis. If they just did that I'd probably bite.

I think there will be an Air 3, whether they call it that or not is a different question.

The way I see it is there will be:
1) iPad Pro (or bigger iPad) which will be the new, talked about unveiling.
2) iPad Air 3, with minor improvements (processor, camera), akin to the iPad 3 -> iPad 4.
3) iPad Mini 4, with enough improvements to bring it more in line with the Air line. Basically not just a colour change like last time!
