Quick question: what would be a predicted cut off point to say we wont see an Imac this year?
Ill take the bait.
What's your theory about this:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/connieg...esigns-for-imac-mac-pro-in-works-due-in-2013/
notably:
"Cook doesnt mention the iMac, and David Pogues reference in the New York Times to an update to the iMac in 2013 is incorrect, Apple said "
How can you both explain no 2012 iMac but a 2013 iMac ?
Really? There always has been an annual iMac release? I think you are forgetting they have not always existed. There always will be an annual iMac release? I think you fail to realize that eventually they will be replaced by something else.
Recent rumors are nothing more than rumors, sorry. They are interesting to read and speculate on, sure. However, they are not FACT. These rumors are not gospel my friend. Why do you take them as such? I think it is often a matter of believing what one wants to believe because it feels good. I guess I cannot blame you there but it still is what it is - dreaming.
If you had read earlier posts in this thread you'd know I did not start it to stir up a hornet's nest. I started it to encourage those wondering if they should buy now to use their own judgement and keep in mind that the rumors are just that - rumors. I have said so explicitly more than once here. People come here sometimes seeking advice and all they have been getting for a very long time is "wait or you are stupid, etc."
Well, back in May I got that advice myself here and I didn't buy it. Instead I bought the iMac I am presently typing this on. Good thing I didn't listen to the soothsayers who were so very sure about "imminent" release then or I'd still be using a noisy, ugly, windows, dual core, crappy screen, PC.
I have also never stated that everyone should not wait. I think for plenty of people waiting makes sense, including waiting until next year. There are plenty of people that can afford to wait considering what they are using currently. Some of the time these decisions center more around want than they do need.
Some people just can't bear to hear there might not be a new iMac this year and I am sorry but the fact is, there might not be one. Yes, there "might" be one but there also might not be one. People who need a computer now need to keep that in mind versus blindly accepting rumor as gospel. That is what I've been saying. That is what this thread is about.
The latest "rumor" is a retracted statement from a Faux News reporter. Maybe it actually means something but what are the odds? That organization isn't exactly known for the quality of its reporting.
...I am sorry but the fact is, there might not be one
I find it amazing that some people are not believing Dirtyharry about the matter of not regretting his/her purchase of an imac in May no matter what comes out whenever. This is almost half a year of enjoyable computing on an imac which presumably does everything wanted of it, and which will be perfectly adequate for quite some time to come.
The inability to believe Dirtyharry when he is stating something quite clearly about himself suggests strongly that the hostility towards him has become very personal. He may or may not be correct in his prediction - he acknowledges that himself.
The intensity of hostility expressed here by some suggests that they believe that Dirtyharry somehow has the power to prevent a new iMac by his opinions - very irrational indeed.
Can't blame them 100% though - 'want' is the only model Apple panders to now.
There is a golden Internet rule that I forgot to follow, and I feel shamefull now.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. - George Carlin

Cool. We'll see in a couple of months.
And by the way, this quote...
...is a contradiction.
well the stereotype on these forums is bickering. Lets face it, most of the people here are only tough behind a screen and go overboard because of their compromised real life social life hehe
Not it is not. It is a fact that two possibilities exist. Therefore it is a fact that either one of them exists. Is that clearer for you?
I keep waiting for your argument in support of the position that the sun will not rise tomorrow.

You're Dirtyharry undercover ... or you are about to regret your 2011 iMac purchase just like him![]()
By your logic if people regret buying an iMac because a new model comes out a year and a half later then anyone would have to be nervous about buying a 2012 iMac with the all new 2013 Haswell in the offing!
maybe its time to put this thread to rest. I mean it´s obvious dirtyharry has his own way of reasoning and his own facts are more powerful than those of people around him. Nothing that is written here is gonna do anything else than keep putting gas on the same fire. just let the thread die would be a better idea.

Did I press a wrong button ?![]()

Well, who knew? lol
What you should be ashamed of is sinking to insults when you run out of ideas.
But I tried SO many times Harry. I just gave up, when you refused to dignify any of my arguments, that I actually put time into, with a proper reply.
Maybe this can show you what this thread has evolved to.

Dirtyharry50 singing like Frank Sinatra : "Regrets, I've had a few ... and one of them, was old specs iMacs"
LOL poor DiryHarry all he wanted was a new computer but he had to go and buy the old one
I think it's clear that a new iMac will be announced at this weeks events, no?
No. The banners don't give any indication of this and there is no history to suggest that it will happen now given that none of the past iPhone events have ever included other Mac Hardware.I think it's clear that a new iMac will be announced at this weeks events, no?
Something newer will not make this any less awesome than it is. I will get something newer later on when I actually need it.
With Haswell due out at the beginning of 2013... My guess is that only the laptops are getting Ivy Bridge, then next year, the Mac Pro will be updated with Ivy Bridge-E while the rest of the line gets Haswell. It only makes sense.
So you're planning to buy the new iMac when it comes out ? Told you, you are regretting ...
