I read (somewhere around here I believe it was) that in Low-Power Mode, then screen refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz. Is this true?

I'm not too crazy about that. I love using Low-Power Mode even when my battery isn't low.
In low power mode it goes between 10hz and 60hz

I’m not sure I’d call it a starter phone, but it‘s a *less* premium phone sure, it suits me though, I’ve been missing a smaller phone for years, very glad I jumped back to one.
😂😂😂
If that helps you sleep at night!! Suuuure😳🙄

Many are amazed about it as the scrolling speed is still 120hz. Going from 60hz to this is still very noticeable. It’s the animations is what the issue is
Yep, I am way too sensitive to 60hz to the point where even using basic Windows tasks I need 120hz. I find it to be the visual equivalent of an SSD upgrade. I can definitely tell even simply moving the cursor if something is 60Hz vs 120+Hz. So I can already tell a difference on my new iPhone.

Or the most probable reason. Apple want's other apps to stink and show his own apps as superior. If you ask me Tim Cook probably thought this would be a good idea.

As always apple have to limit everything

Apple fanboys here used to tell us that apple waited to add 120hz ''in order to make it properly, better than android devices''....Yeah guess what, another example of lazy engineering by Apple...
This article is officially wrong, and should have an update tag. ProMotion is fully supported, and just needs a plist tag so the phone doesnt waste resources on apps that don’t say they need it. Another example of thoughtful engineering by Apple. And I’m chuckling at the hatebois who went off half-cocked (with a few choice comments quoted).

I mean I don’t really care, my dude, as I’ve gotten older I’ve cared less and less about having the “best” and more about the right device for me. If you see the mini as a “starter phone” no skin off my nose, I’m just happy to have a phone that’s comfortable for me and my stubby fingers to use one handed

And now Apple said its a bug and fix is coming shortly.

And this is what android fanboys always end up standing on: a pathetic lie.

As expected from Apple.

It’s battery related issue.

On my iPad Pro, I noticed battery tends to drain faster when I run apps with 120mhz refresh rate all the time (like games)

Apple may open up faster refresh at max to all devs in future but it may be limited to Pro Max because of battery issue.
120Hz works fine on an android phone with less battery capacity, so I really don't think it's a battery issue at all -- promotion is also able to clock a lot slower on static images...

My android phone, using Chrome, starts out at 120Hz, then backs down to 60Hz until I scroll the screen any, then it goes back up to 120Hz. Interesting!

That's dynamic refresh rate at work for others that claim Android is only static 120Hz. Actually prefer the more sane lower limit like 60Hz to avoid any potential degraded user experience compared to 10Hz.

Er, Apple is pretty good at raking in the cash and being the richest tech company in the world. Is it a business after all.
It's all compressed air in the form of stock. Once the price of the stock collapses you're left with nothing.

Nothing other than their tremendous cash pile and huge income stream?

The stock price means nothing to Apple (other than as motivation for the employees). It has cash.

Going to be disappointed if this isn’t a mistake/bug. I didn’t pay over $1000 to not get the full 120Hz for everything.
This is so ***** stupid - a simple setting in the settings app or control center - 120hz - the end - for all those that care for it over battery life. Instead they do this half arsed implementation.

Did Apple not double-check possible bugs that could be related to their most-hyped up feature for the iPhone 13 Pro...?

Unbelievable. Even if this is a simple bug, how does it make it through testing when this is supposed to be one of the major selling points? And if it isn't a bug than I have no words. Apple are so far behind in a lot of areas.

Considering that the documentation for devs was just published, clearly iOS15 was rushed. I mean there’s already a bug that you need an update for when you opened the box. Doesn’t show good confidence on the iOS team. Apple should stop virtue signaling or wanting to be the holier company. Just do a great job delivering your products first, hardware and software.

Yes, Apple is SO bad at it, it’s become the most successful company on earth.

So you’re saying it’s perfectly fine for Apple to have such poor progress for a software of their primary revenue maker, that they couldn’t even have documentation ready at launch. Sounds like you want Apple to fail then.

Time will tell. I actually like a certain part of Apple, and I want them to continue to succeed, and criticism is part of that. I thought Apple had learned about software quality and proper documentations, but I guess they’re still learning.
