Remember us free software fans who back in the 90s warned everyone about DRM and how insidious it is and how it will keep you from using your own software on your devices eventually?
Well, here we are. A stupid bug is keeping us from running even free applications.
I don't like the future we ended up in.
EDIT: I bought Apple devices and didn't follow my own advice, I know. I'm just grumbling about stupid this all is. It's so unnecessary.

Why? If you read the comments, people on iOS 12 and my iPad is on 13.4.1 and had the issues. Is nothing to do with 13.5.Was planning on updating my devices this weekend but I'll wait until this problem gets resolved for now.
It never happens to me until yesterday. That’s funny, it’s not happening to me.
You realize it’s just an API? For it to work you need to download an app that supports it AND then turn it on? 🙄I haven’t updated to 13.5 and still have the issue. I don’t really want the contact tracing on my iPhone.
Go over to Android or some other competitor then. You will soon realise that Apple, although making occasional errors, are still well ahead of the pack in terms of reliability and innovation. Forgive their rare issues and rejoice that you are still enjoying the best eco system available.I just had this happen to me with YouTube today!!! Sucks! Another iOS bug. Apple used to have hardware that worked well because it cared so much about software. If Apple doesn’t watch out, it will lose its dominance like Blackberry once did. Someone will come along and make great software that works with the hardware in an ecosystem and Apple’s lead will vanish overnight. I cannot wait for the day!!! So sick of Cook’s Apple. Make Apple Great Again. Hire a “product person” as CEO!!!
Well sorry for stating the completely obvious, but ther slogan was never "it just works, 100% of the time without fail" for sevaral reasonsToo much time spent on the wrong things....
Apple needs to get back to the "It Just Works" days, narrow its focus, and make its products more reliable.
Do a feature/development freeze for 90 days and focus solely on bug fixes in iOS 13. We don't need iOS 14 right now in my opinion.
Ok this made no sense to me, the youtube app is free. or did you mean sharing of premium (ie payed) content via the app?Happened to me with YouTube on iPad. Offloading the app fixed it. Not a big deal.

iTunes? I thought that was deprecated and replaced some time agoMeanwhile, iTunes 12.6.5.3 is still broken on Apple's side.
It is such a cliché...iTunes? I thought that was deprecated and replaced some time ago
It’s happening with my kid’s iPad.What’s the point of sharing free apps with family members?

I also believe it is a permissions issue, which I believe is on the App Store end.I don't think this is DRM ... I think it's a kernel permissions issue ... the 'shared' being used in the error seems like the device user doesn't have permissions to run an app or the app permissions has changed (either on device or from the App Store server) after a recent update.
Well, that is interesting. iOS was first released in 2007, so either that Senior Advisor was lying about working with iOS for over 30 years, or this story is made up. The procedure described is totally unacceptable to any user, and would destroy any evidence, making the bug impossible to reproduce.Folks, here's the official word from Apple. First, Apple has never heard of this issue and they talk to billions of people every hour. This is literally the first time the Senior Advisor has EVER heard of an issue with apps opening and the Senior Advisor has been working on iOS for over 30 years. So, what you need to do to resolve this is perform a hard reboot of your phone. If the issue persists, you'll need to Erase all Content and Settings and set-up the phone is new (DO NOT restore from backup). If the issue persists, you'll need to plug your device into a computer and do a fresh installation of the OS and NOT restore from backup. If the issue still persists, you'll need to collect some logs by running sysdiagnose with Mail logging enabled. Once that is finished, you'll upload the zipped file to Apple and it will be escalated to Engineering. Engineering will get back to you within 24-48 hr.
What about your chat history?Happened to me when trying to run WhatsApp. Just uninstalled, reinstalled, then good to go. I've had this before in the past when running stuff my wife purchased (or other way around). Uninstalling-reinstalling worked for us. Kinda sad to still see this around.
