@Jimmy Guphanti: You don't like Apple's ways. Therefore you go Windows/Android/Whatever. Congratulations. Just no need to create a thread about it or convince everyone else of your opinion. Do whatever you want and be done with it.

stand against what exactly?
I though it was obvious? Anyway, a stand against the majority of Internet video, being under the control of one, inefficient in mobile, company.
We shouldn't need OMG-Quad core CPU just to watch video on mobile devices flawlessly, when h.264 video was doing that on an underpowered iPhone in 2007.

under control  what are you talking about? adobe simply makes a product and gives it out to the mass. that mass can use it however they wish. that is not control, control would be forcing people to use it which is simply not the case.

flash is improving all the time with the help of companies like google, microsoft and many more so they can implement it and give users a greater web experience. why are you trying to portray adobe to be a big bad villain and apple as the white knight in shining armour

i also love how you admit that the majority of internet video is used via flash, thus making apple's policy inconvenient to iphone/ipad users.

Why do people want to label companies "evil" for this sort of thing? Neither Apple, Adobe, or Google are evil in this respect. Companies are evil when they make nasty stuff (weapons ) for governments, treat employees badly, pollute etc. Wish the hyperbole from both sides would stop.

Flash is less than optimal on my Nexus S. I can't see Apple in such a negative light with their opinions of HTML5.

I'd prefer we got away from the dependence of Flash for content and would prefer an open, cross comptible standard available to all.

YUP. I've never read a review of Flash working fantastically on a mobile device. Flash is just bloated crap. It's ancient technology. I wonder why the same people aren't rooting for RealPlayer on their mobile devices (... yes i went there!)

I remember reading Jobs' open letter about Flash, and how I thought "man, this dude has vision and balls" by literally saying that Flash just sucks and it's not part of the future of technology, and that they have no intention of ever supporting it. HTML5 and all the other current web technologies are. Flash is a crutch. It's a handicap. It's a shortcut to thinking.

The only reason Android, etc, try to get Flash on their devices is to have a "one up" on Apple, but the truth is everytime they do it, it always ****ing sucks.

I think the reason VEVO blocks videos on Mobile Youtube is because they would you rather use their VEVO App.

You can get it here

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vevo/id385815082?mt=8

But, I don't know. I'm probably crazy.

Not crazy, but incorrect. Vevo use the app as a) there's no way to produce a playlist that reliably introduces advertising on HTML5 YouTube and b) because the labels that licence Vevo the rights demand that content protection is in place to make streams comparatively secure - which means RTMPE as a transfer protocol, and means Flash only.

I'm pretty sure Vevo would love to be able to do those two things without the cost of creating and maintaining an extra application, and be subject to Apple arbitrarily deciding to take 30% of sales if offered or random censorship on taste/decency grounds.

But that won't ever, ever happen. If Flash dies off Silverlight will make a comeback. There are significant benefts to a business of using a secure-ish proprietry solution. At least Adobe makes an effort to hit more platforms than it's competitors.

Flash sucks the battery out of every platform it runs on, regardless if it is a phone, tablet and even laptops.

Actually says the guy I was quoting.

I didnt say that at all.
I was pointing out a flaw in his argument. Vegastouch said he doesn't use it much so I was asking why he thought it was so important to add if he doesn't use it that much.

Your reading comprehension needs work.
First of all, i didnt offer an "argument". Was more my opinion and experience. I also didnt say it was important. I didnt come close to saying that. I said it was ok but i dont use flash much but was nice to have.
Then you asked a question that is irrelevant which was:
Why should Apple waste time for something you really don't use that much anyway?

Like i am the only guy they are catering to

A big reason for flash is Games, and that would compete with the App Store.
Another is videos and that would compete with iTunes
Another is streaming music which might compete with iTunes again.

Apple also likes that they can say their iPhone works a certain way and is pretty much guaranteed to not have browser issues related to plugins of any sort for the most part. Flash occasionally crashes and takes out tabs or the whole browser with it. Apple doesn't like things that have the potential to do that.

Just so you don't think I'm a lemming. I'm sure it can be done but they're not going to devote time to something that doesn't benefit Apple's bottom line. Just look how many Flash games get ported to $0.99 apps... They want people to use their store fronts. Its a billion dollar industry for them, literally.

Steve Jobs is very stubborn. Apple was a lagging behind company for years because he refused to be compatible with anything and has always been high priced. If he listened to his customers more, he could rule the mobile phone industry but i guess in being smart, you have no common sense sometimes.

As for HTML5...there may be support for iPhone for it but you dont have it yet as does nobody else and it might be a while til anybody does. The people want flash, so give it to them. But it probably dont work well on Apple products. Go figure!
And your right, Jobs wants you to spend all your money in iTunes and screw his customers who cant transfer their paid for videos anyplace else. Thats always a crowd pleaser.

I hate iTunes and so glad i dont have to use it anymore.

You are completely and utterly 100% *INCORRECT*.

If Apple listened to their customers, they'd have the bloatiest, biggest piece of crap hardware and software on the planet. It's precisely because they don't "listen to customers" that their hardware and software is so fantastic.

Just read *any* thread in these forums, and you'll see dozens of users all wanting completely ridiculous and totally different things. If Apple listened to users there'd be 27,000 different variations of the iPad. iOS would be such a bloated turd, and everything would just completely fail.

I know this for a fact. I develop applications on the side and I always get emails from users. Bottom line: they're stupid. I get hate emails because someone purchased my app and it doesn't do what they wanted. Well, in no way did I ever claim that my app possessed that feature, my app never portrayed itself to even have that functionality, or anything else. The user just clicked "purchase" and never actually read the description. Instead of the user saying "wow, I should have read that better..." they fire off a hate email.

Honestly, when I read most of the threads here, and read how so many people are so upset that Apple doesn't have some random feature, or support some obscure stupid file format, I feel so thankful that Apple doesn't listen to these morons. If Apple did listen to them, we'd all end up with a crappier product.

TL;DR: Joe Consumer is an idiot.

To a degree you are right but c-mon. It took vast complaints from customers for him to give them simple MMS and copy and paste. Sure not EVERYTHING is feasible, but some things arent outrageous either. Simple notifications came after vast complaints and Android taking customers away.

So i am NOT 100% incorrect and some of the things ill assume he cant deliver because of incompatibilty. Now you can say that Apple DID give these things ive mentioned but it took 2-4 years to get it on a phone that by many in here say is "setting the standard".

Im not saying flash is great. Its ok and it works for me and has gotton better when i need it but i dont crave it but there are many who would use it more than i do. I think Apple has issues with Adobe more than it thinks flash isnt worthy.

I want the age of posters to be displayed from now on. That way I can better determine whether that person is just paranoid that they may have to pay for something in their life time.

If you can't afford a $1 game or $1-2 rental for a movie or TV show then I suggest you re-evaluate your career. Go back to school... etc...

If you want to steal music and videos then man up and go to the store and steal it in person. Don't chicken ***** out and sit behind your computer to steal it.

Also, no one wants flash. They may be forced to use it since there wasn't an alternative to it but they certainly don't WANT it. Ask 10 people on the street what flash is. I doubt more than 1 knows what you're talking about.

Apple already does rule the mobile phone industry or have you not been paying attention. And yes he is very stubborn, wasn't apple the first to take out the 3.5 floppy drives from their computers and people called him crazy then not too much longer after that everyone else followed suit? I am pretty sure it took Dell like 5 years after Mac stopped using them.

As for flash not working well with apple products that is why Steve does not want to use it, maybe if it could work well on apply products then he would use it but Adobe cant get it to work well. And no its not apples fault, its Adobes. Maybe if they would make their product work right apple would use it.

As for transferring your paid videos anywhere else, that sounds like you are trying to steal videos and burn them to a DVD to watch them off of iTunes.

Yeah boohoo apple makes it hard to steal videos and rip them to DVDs like you can easily on a pc, that is what you are getting at afterall right?

Last stats i saw, Android had a bigger share of the market so you must not be paying attention.

As for the floppy drive, i dont know when it went away. I dont have an Apple computer because they cost too much and arent compatible with many things. Yeah, thats not Steve's fault

Adobes fault? Sure, and its everybody elses fault that their stuff dont work well with Apples. There are many other companies at fault here, not Apple

Sorry Bro but you would be 100% WRONG about that. I was refering to a guy who in here said he bought many vids in iTunes and i believe he got an Android phone (dont recall which brand) and said he couldnt transfer his videos that he paid for and use them on his phone because it is locked down.

So boohoo for him and anybody else that cant use their videos they bought anywhere but on iTunes or the iPhone. And boohoo to you for assuming i am trying to steal

I have two videos on my iTunes and NO videos on my Vibrant, except for Avatar that is on a Micro card that i can just pop in if i want to watch it.

and excuse me but what is wrong with mentioning samsung

i have the samsung and the iphone 4 btw, instead of doing cheap shots or whatever, care to add anything to this topic? you know, your thoughts on flash and why apple should or should not include it.

And did you expect us to actually believe that you had an open mind based on the title of your thread which presented your conclusion and biasses without having to read your post? Talk about cheap shots about Apple being evil. Please tell us how they are evil. That is a big part of your title, so please tell us how they are evil.

This post is worst than the guy who was complaining so much about the Macbook Air. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOAUI0s8zOE

Look, Apple does not want flash because it is simply too much for the device.

Jeez, when people complained about iOS 4 on iPhone 3G, it got really annoying. At the time, Apple gave them the opportunity to experience something that Apple knew would not be practical, because people wanted it to be compatible with as much iDevices as possible, and wanted to have those FEATURES.

However, the horror of iOS 4 showed the huge slow downs which people did not like. Some people say that a warning would have been nice to warn people of slow downs. Apple then learned that with every iOS they make, they make sure the firmware will run with no issues, or else they either have complaints or they shut down options for devices. That is what Apple has learned with flash on mobile devices. They had to shut down the options, and in return, they decided to use HTML 5, which is more practical.

Apple is not evil. They are simply doing the right thing. However, the right thing might not always be the easiest thing to decide. If they do something wrong, they make sure it gets fixed. Period.

Lol Realplayer, nice.

I think one aspect i have a question about is the separation of Flash' sub categories. Why do sites that don't need interaction like games or on screen layover ads, use flash anymore? There are Flash audio players, video players, videos with box-ads, interactive games, and everything in between.

Why is Flash necessary for anything but games, (and maybe ads in videos but where you can still watch them on mobile ala YouTube/Vevo app.)

Music and video never really needs to be flash right?

There should be separation and Flash only used when absolutely necessary like for interactive games.

How many different versions of the Android on all the phones vs just the iphone OS? The Android is on 4 different carriers and on something over 20 different phones.

The iphone is still the one to beat since you always hear about an iphone killer, you never hear the term Android killer. The numbers are skewed because of this but it you break it all down the iphone is way ahead.

And is Android even a phone? Its an OS no? Try picking one phone with Android on it if you want a better comparison. So we can compare phone vs phone, not phone vs OS. You cant compare an OS to a phone, that is just flawed logic.

So pick the best selling android phone vs the iphone, and it wont even be close.

http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-android-btig-2011-6

Which model has been selling better, the iphone is at 58%

As for Flash, its Adobes fault it runs like crap on osx. And yes those other companies are also at fault for making half assed mac versions. Its funny the mac native programs run just fine now dont they?

If he bought videos you itunes then watch them on itunes, that is like crying you cant watch a bluray movie you bought on a DVD player.
