How big is it? I thinkmashable described it as like having two iPad airs in portrait side by side - is that about right?

Yeah, it's gigantic. Not like the 6 plus vs the 6 big. It is HUGE!

Glad I have the return period to try this out and see if I can get used to it :(

Edit: here is it with my 12" MacBook. HUGE

So - Hard to use on a chair/lap scenario? Please elaborate more.

Is the IPP really meant for "lay it flat on a table" and that's about it? (other than a stand for it I mean)

It's a Frankenpad. People aren't lying. Honestly Apple could've done without the lte... I really don't see people carrying this thing around with them. I don't even think it can fit in my laptop bag...

Uncomfortable to sit on the sofa and browse with. Haven't been in bed with it yet but can't see it being comfortable.

Laying it on the table is fine but holding it up to view emails, browse the web etc is just uncomfortable. Not the weight or anything. It doesn't feel heavy. It's just uncomfortably big.

Thx for the report - Man...I may be cancelling. A huge chunk of my iPad use is browsing the web on the couch

Wait?!?! I don't understand how people are so shocked by it's size. I'm also a bit surprised that people are buying this version of an iPad for simple browsing and media. Of course it is uncomfortable to hold...it is almost 13 inches!!! They list the dimensions and there are multiple options of smaller versions of iPads. Why buy this if you weren't wanting something BIG?!?!

It seems to me that the iPad Pro is intended to be used mainly with a keyboard or laying flat for drawing and graphics. I bought mine with a keypad to be a more portable version of my laptop. I don't doubt that it is huge, it is supposed to be.

Have not had the time to really try it yet as it is still downloading apps but it's REALLY big, feels almost comically large when you hold it.

I assumed it would be like having two ipad mini's stuck together but it is actually considerably bigger than that

Not complaining mind you just saying it's really big!

It's basically the same size as the Samsung Tab Pro right? I didn't find that to be all that large - just right, in fact. I find the normal iPad a bit too small.

How are the existing apps fitting/running on the Pro? Does it scale them? Do they have issues or artifacts when doing so?

Are you finding the RAM is making a big difference? How many tabs can you have open at once in Safari and switch between (on bust sites) without the tabs having to reload?

Yeah, as someone who also has a 12" rMB, I just don't see me needing this. I think it'd be especially awkward with the case and the pen - much more cumbersome than the svelt rMB. Heck, I no longer even carry around my SP3 that much, since I got the little rMB.

Would be nice to see a few more pics of the two, especially with the cover/keypad attached?

On the bright side - I'm assuming there will be some open-box returns selling for a discount, in the near future?

Browsing the web & general use must be lightning fast/completely fluid & stutter free?

Surely smooth web browsing is a connection thing? I know the latest gen ipads access super fast wifi, but you need an appropriate router to do this.
This is why i also purchased an Air Port Extreme, so i also have this super fast wifi experience.

Good! I want this thing to be huge. I plan on using it 90% for illustration work and for that, bigger is better. I'm bored to death with the size of the regular iPad - I love hearing people shocked that it's such a big device - that makes me confident that I can use it daily as my MacBook Pro replacement for "most" tasks.

I have my Time Capsule, but I tend to only turn it on when I'm using my Mac (which is hardly ever, these days).

I was referring to the 4 gigs of RAM, and fast CPU/GPU.

I'm coming from an iPad 4, don't forget!

:)

Aye, but you also mention web browsing. Im no techie. Far from it. Which is why im also wondering, if i dont upgrade my router, what, if any speed differences on internet browsing there'll be between my ipad2 and ipad pro?

Funny, after this thread I went in expecting a shock, but it's not that big :D

Conditioning ;)

Fits great on my music stand, with a tablet/clamp/thingy. Awesome
