I remember last year with the 16 PM (512GB), I was getting bad screen after bad screen, decided to try a 1TB, good screen. May be coincidence though.

Received my third PM today. Probably a GVC screen judging from the green tint when tilting and the cooler shade of white.
My first was a GVC but with bigger green tinting so I decided to return it and got a G9N.
No tinting upon initial inspection so was happy. Hower after an hour or so I noticed my screen was not uniform when true tone kicked in. The upper half was slightly warmer when looking head on. Without TT it was hardly noticable but with it on and scrolling in mail or white website I could see it from time to time.
So ordered another one and this is a LG screen but the green tint is bit less than my first but it has the same advantages as that one too: uniform. When looking off axis the Samsungs are still better, but I rather had good uniformity head on with a small green tilt than the other way around.

The phones I tested in the store all had the same. Green shift was always LG but head on the samsungs had different white balance. Only saw one with absolutely perfect screen.
I still have one on order coming next week but the one I use now is fine for me.

One of my friends is trying to find a 17 Pro Max in stock and he's terrified of getting a bad panel after stumbling into this thread. (Hi Alex lol!) I don't blame him, looks like the Pro Max panels are especially bad compared to the rest. Still no data on whether higher capacity increases the odds of a good panel? I assume not.

I just got a new 17 Pro, coming from a 17 Pro Max. This phone is small. I wanted a smaller phone after having large phones for years but I'm a little shocked by how small it is. I'll have to see if I get used to it.

It has a G9N screen. I detect no green when tilted and if there is any tinting other than that, I'm not seeing it. If i had to say one negative thing about it, it doesn't seem completely even in terms of brightness. It might be a bit brighter on the bottom 1/3 of the screen but it's nothing that I would notice other than staring at a bright white screen.

Glad you got an acceptable one. I thought my GH3 17PM was perfect aside from green shift at an angle. Uneven uniformity rears its ugly head in various brightness settings, turns out it wasn’t as uniform as I’d thought.

My G9P is surprisingly better in comparison. I don’t have any glaring uniformity issues with TT or NS enabled which is usually more common on the Samsung panels. I’ve rarely seen a truly perfect PM screen. Get one that you can tolerate and accept and move on.

I picked up my second 17PM (512GB) today, GH3 again. Horrible green shift (even worse than the first) and the uniformity is also nothing to write home about. Oddly enough, while I checked out the display models waiting for my pick-up, I noticed that nearly all the 17 Pros were flawless, which does seem to confirm that they're the ones getting the better panels throughout.

Wish I hadn't traded in my 16PM, that one was close to perfect on the second try. Off to number 3 it is, I guess.

Appears that the Pro Max is increasing in demand which may explain the widespread usage of LG panels for these. To meet the demand. Basing this off of the pre-order and order stats that are out there.

Funnily enough the PM models have been in stock at my local store since Thursday now, so it's more just sifting through the stock until I get one with a panel that doesn't suck.

Sadly I can't afford the luxury of buying 2 or 3 at once and keeping the one that's actually decent. I should probably start saving for the lottery on the 19 or 20 models once I got a decent 17. :p

Seems like the Pro lottery tickets have dried up in Chicagoland this week. Are the Apple stores holding stock for later when accessories come in?
