Those on Mojave or older: don't upgrade to iOS 16

I can confirm this I swapped out my gpu on my ’12 cmp (fan was dying anyways and was getting annoying) and Mojave installed no problem, as far as newer os’es that requires some special patching

also I can also confirm iOS 16.5 works on itunes even dfu’ed and updated my iPad to 16.5 using iTunes plus every time I jailbreak my phone or pad iTunes pops up all the time to tell me my device needs help

Update for anyone using Mojave I recommend either going back to high sierra or using something like opencore and upgrade, after mostly finishing up installing Monterey on mine it runs faster and smoother than Mojave.

Don't make the same mistake.

Yeah we have to keep an intranet of our workstations on Mojave, because it was the last OS where everything worked. But they're on an intranet quarantined from the internet, and we don't plug anything else into them, respecting a wall of separation between the older stable macs and the new update & break everything every 5 minutes iOS devices for internet & admin tasks. Combining the two worlds... there be dragons.
