I’m planning to get a new iPhone this September and leaning towards a Pro Max, although have some concerns around the size. Those who own or used to own one, did you find it OK for daily use? Was it too big?

I’ll be upgrading from iPhone X.
Best way is really to try it out in the store.

I've had the Pro Max sized phones since they were introduced and loved them however this year I can no longer stand the size and want something smaller.

I will however order both the P and PM to see how it goes because of the changes this year, I may end up loving the PM size again.
Respectfully, I’m not a fan of buying two iPhones just to decide which to keep.

It not only delays someone else from getting their iPhone, it’s just a waste to open and return such an expensive item that will be re-sold as refurbished.

If you enjoy the X, then the 15 Pro should satisfy most of your needs. But don’t limit yourself to paying top dollar. There are plenty of good used models out there for half the price. I have a 12 PM and while the sharp edges make it difficult for me to hold for long periods of time, the camera is great and the display is much easier on my aging eyes. I have no desire to upgrade for at least another three years or however long Apple supports software updates.

I feel like the 6.7" pro max is gonna be the perfect size after they balloon it to 6.9" next year.

I have a Pro RN and am moving up to a Pro Max.

Why?

The weight will be coming down a lot, which was a huge factor for me.

I use air pods for long calls, and largely never talk in the car on it (I have car play).

As others said, depends on the size of your hands.
As to the weight it’s just something you get used to. Barring a medical issue I just can’t get on board with the “it’s so heavy I can’t hold it up” that you hear so often.
I started with a 3GS then on to a 6S+, SX Max, 11 Pro Max, and currently a 14 Pro Max. No weight issues.
That being said, going from an X to a Pro Max/Ultra, you’re going to feel it for a while.

I have the 14PM, and while the screen and battery life are excellent it's just a little too big.
Not so much in my hands - but I've realized there's a lot of inconveniences in that size.

For example, it doesn't fit in the chest "phone pocket" of any of my coats.
And in my car, even with a Qi charger that fits it, the camera modules are big enough that it tilts the phone just enough that it doesn't try reliably.

I hate giving up the best camera, but I'll likely go back to the 15 Pro this year from the max.

I’m contemplating the same thing. I’ve always had the normal Pro size and the iPhone X before that. I’m intrigued by the Pro Max/Ultra, but I’m also iffy about the weight and size.

We’ll see. I’m thinking those like us need to definitely go feel one in store or that a friend has before buying.

Yeah, the only problem with the store is that (obviously) you don't get to test it in your real life.
All of the minor annoyances that have turned me off to the size are things that I discovered later, and didn't occur to me in the store.

It’s a phablet. It’s a big phone. Unless you have big hands, it’s hard to do everyday task with one hand. It’s for two hands. It’s not a handy type phone that fits in a pocket perfectly. Once again it’s a phablet.

The only thing that bothers me about my PM is the weight, but Apple is fixing that this year with the titanium upgrade. Other than that, it’s perfect for my needs. I held a Pro in store once and it just felt cramped.

i'm a 13P user and will be sticking with this smaller size. the main thing that makes the PM attractive to me is the bigger battery, but i will be sticking to the Pro size because i often have to one-hand my phone while riding a bicycle. as is, i've almost dropped the phone while one-handing it on a bike many times, and surely the chances of dropping the PM in this situation is higher. so it has to the regular Pro size for me.

I use a Pro Max most of the time but I really hate it. It feels like an anchor. But I need the bigger size most of the time. It’s very Jekyll and Hyde for me.

I had an iPhone X graded to ProMax 14 Happy after almost year

I have a PM and have been getting that size iPhone for the last several launches and I don’t see myself wanting to go back to a smaller phone at this point. The size/weight difference was only really noticeable to me for the first week or so of having the PM (the first time) after that it just became normal and not something I ever thought about.

I have small hands. And I went from Pro size to the Max size. And It feels so much better from a viewing content stand point. I will admit I had to readjust my one handed use because I have small hands. Sometimes I have to use both no matter what. But for me it's more than worth the trade off of having the larger screen real estate. And now when ever I hold someones' smaller phone it feels dinky, lol.

None of the current phones I'm able to reach all corners with my thumb without adjusting my grip so none are really one hand phones to me. I'm going 12P to 15PM/Ultra. I have held the 13PM and 14PM before and its not too large imo.

Only you know if it’s too big for you. If your iPhone X is manageable but too small then id recommend it. It’s heavy. Maybe the new model won’t be with the rumoured titanium body but we’ll see

I’m kinda in the same boat. I will ABSOLUTELY miss the real estate, but this thing is so damn heavy and I hate always having to use two hands. Often, I try to use one, which is brutal on my wrist.

I just recently went back to the Pro Max, after going Pro -> Mini in previous cycles. Overall, the Mini is far and away the perfect iPhone form factor IMO, minus one thing - battery. I would have stuck to the mini, but the lack of "pro" features (Mainly 120hz) and lack of battery forced me away.

For me, the Pro size is already compromised, it is too big to use with one hand comfortably (Comfortably being the key - I can use the pro max with one hand by doing some shifting around - but it is the same shifting I have to do to reach the top corners and the keyboard at the same time on the Pro.) So my logic from that point is that the Max has a bigger display and longer battery, so why compromise on the "medium" sized phone that is already too large, just go with the largest option.

The Max still annoys me on the software side though, basically nothing actually takes advantage of the larger display. And basically no apps support landscape mode anymore (With two column layouts.)

14 Pro Max here and I love it. I came from a Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

My only issue is the weight, which is due to the frame being stainless steel. It's by far the heaviest phone I've ever had. However this may change with the 15 PM, which supposedly will use titanium instead.

Wouldn’t say it’s too big, would say other iPhones are too narrow.
Biggest drawbacks of 14PM are the weight and the sharp edges.
Love the screen.
Let’s see what next week brings with the annual update. If it’s more comfortable to hold and the camera upgrade is substantial then could be tempting!
One more thing, please keep a physical sim slot for travel…
