I think it's just the angle of the pic. Look at the MacBook on the left compared to the one on the right, the left has been shot straight on, the right from a higher angle.

But the Thunderbolt Display appears straight on in both pics, regardless of the differing notebook angles. My guess is that the notebook pictures were taken seperately from the TBD, then added in to the same image.

They are all in the same shot. The TBD is at the same angle, as is the Magic Mouse, the wireless keyboard even the MagSafe cable. You can see the top plain on all devices in the pic whereas you can't in the left pic.

The display (top to bottom) is also a little shorter on the right pic, meaning it has been taken from a different angle.

I think you may be right about the angle of the photo. The base does look flatter than the other, creating the illusion that it is lower.

I got bored and created a mockup of what a new Thunderbolt Display may look like, using similar dimensions and curvature of the 27 inch iMac.

Nice job, looks great!! :)

...can't wait to buy one.........:apple:

Waiting for this update too. Hoping for a smaller body and higher resolution.
Here in the Netherlands, some retailers have a price drop from 1000+ Euro to 900 euro. I hope this is because the new version is nearly there!

I would love to know how many people are holding there cash,
ready to purchase an updated Thunderbolt Display?

....come on Apple, we're all waiting!

Been waiting for this over a year. Found a great deal on a new current tb display and went that route.

Apple lost 1k that I was ready to fork over.

Will say that dang the current one is glossy. And I normally "preferred gloss to matte".

This probably does not mean much, but Amazon Germany is out of stock of ATDs and has a new delivery window within 1-2 months since 2 days.

Obviously this might be random, or Amazon is dropping it. Other online retailers still show it as in stock.

Yup, me too. Doesn't have to be 4K, just an update design to match the skinny iMac (with reduced glare etc.) and USB3.

And hopefully will still have a FireWire port.

What I would love to see as well is a display meant as a "side" display. Same height and such as the iMac but only 1440 wide. This would be great for smaller desks. I could also see a setup with side displays on both sides of an iMac. What I want to toss on the second display doesn't require that large of a display and I imagine others might like this idea as well.

I'm losing faith for 2013. It doesn't make sense if Apple would release this after christmas and before the last day of 2013. Same for the Mac Pro (although the website still mentions december 2013)

If it is not there for Mac Pro launch.....don't hold your breath.

While I agree with you, I also disagree.

Apple already showed us there is no 4k TBD yet.

Why would apple launch a sub par monitor with a machine that surpasses the 27" 1440P?

I have no clue why apple isn't updating the current TBD but my guess is, the current one will live on until apple emplacements higher res in the iMac then pushing out the new thunderbolt at that time.

I would be shocked to see a revised one at this point.
