I think it's just the angle of the pic. Look at the MacBook on the left compared to the one on the right, the left has been shot straight on, the right from a higher angle.
But the Thunderbolt Display appears straight on in both pics, regardless of the differing notebook angles. My guess is that the notebook pictures were taken seperately from the TBD, then added in to the same image.

I think you may be right about the angle of the photo. The base does look flatter than the other, creating the illusion that it is lower.
I got bored and created a mockup of what a new Thunderbolt Display may look like, using similar dimensions and curvature of the 27 inch iMac.

...I think this is an embarrassment and I'm slightly disappointed.
Could this mean, no Thunderbolt Display update?
What on earth is going on at Apple? They don't have time, money or don't care about an very ageing Apple display?
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 frames per second... you're gonna see some serious ****!November 5, 1955.
Wow, that's really interesting.
I would love to know how many people are holding there cash,
ready to purchase an updated Thunderbolt Display?
....come on Apple, we're all waiting!![]()

And hopefully will still have a FireWire port.Yup, me too. Doesn't have to be 4K, just an update design to match the skinny iMac (with reduced glare etc.) and USB3.
I've got a feeling we'll see something in the next couple of weeks....
If it is not there for Mac Pro launch.....don't hold your breath.
